I dont remember a bus-incident in Birthright?

Maybe he saves a loaded school bus from an approaching tornado...or maybe the bus gets caught on the bridge when it starts to flood.
Floods and tonadoes usually go hand in hand.

Yep, I'm sure it'll just be part of one of his first rescue-sequences possibly the tornado-thing.
It did sound like the bus would actually go into the river though.

So if they were to do a "save the bus on a bridge", would that be automatically viewed as a nod to Donner?

No doubt, some will. But most? I doubt it.
I'm sure that there would be a HUGE uprising on these boards. You would see a lot of "UGH, not another Donner nod!" and then there will be those that will ban the movie just because of "the nod".

BTW, has a set pics thread been opened yet? If not, could you start one, please?

I went back to find the image of the bus on the street that we saw from this morning, but its gone.

Where was it, SupermanHomePage?

I think there is just as much Superman: For All Seasons influence in this move as there is Birthright. Just my opinion.

God, I hope so. For All Seasons portrays one of the more "grounded" and likeable versions of Clark and Smallville IMO. It's got a really comfortable feel-good townsfolk-atmosphere going.

Mixed with elements of Birthright and Secret Origin, then that sounds like a really interesting origin/Smallville-approach.

I am fairly certain I saw an "Otto's Barbershop" store front in one of those Plano set pictures or videos. I believe that Otto's was the barbershop Clark goes to in Superman: For All Seasons and his hair breaks the scissors.

Hmmm. Wonder if the studio told them to. Not sure. Cool though. I can't believe we're at that point where it's ACTUALLY filming. :yay:

Could be. I'd bet real money it was on both sites earlier.

Yep, I noticed that too, but I couldnt make out the sign.
Not sure I like the sizzors actually breaking, but it makes for a better (funnier) live-action scene.

I didn't know they were using Birthright as a basis for the film. I mean I heard the rumors about it like a million years ago, but also heard they were using elements of the Byrne stuff as well.

Fill me in here, I guess

You wonder if they are looking at any of the ideas that were being thrown around for the "Superman Returns" sequel but with Zod and company.

These Kryptonians “wouldn’t necessarily be evil right off the bat”, says Dougherty, “That’s too easy and cliché. I don’t think people just show up and they’re evil. In my mind, if the Kryptonians really were a space-faring race – which they obviously were – then it would only make sense that there would’ve been colonies and off-planet missions. So yeah, the possibility of other Kryptonians making their way to Earth seemed like a pretty big one in my mind.

“I think it’d be interesting to see how these other Kryptonians show up, land and have all these powers and [have to learn] how to adapt to them – when Clark got to grow up with [the powers]. Ya know… if you woke up with super powers tomorrow I think you’d have a pretty tough time adjusting to them”.

Superman quickly finds out that our visitor is also a Kryptonian survivor who has been traveling the known galaxies and was able to detect Kryptonian technology thanks to our new green/black satellite that has started to orbit the Earth.Superman finally has found a Kryptonian buddy and starts showing him around the planet, a planet full of problems, disease, famine, crime and nations at war with each other.

Our new Kryptonian friend asks Superman why, with all his power, is he not changing the world for the better. Why is he not getting rid of famine, disease and war? Of course fans know that Superman has always been told, or better said instructed, not to interfere with Earth's development. Superman explains that he is not allowed to interfere but his Krypto buddy tells him that with their powers they are required to "interfere," Superman disagrees.

Krypto buddy decides to take charge and starts "interfering" from day one. One of the first things that he does is get involved in a political mess that is heating up between two third world nations.War breaks out between these two nations but before any real battle breaks our Krypto buddy interferes and lays waste to these two Armies. He declares to the world that he will not allow anymore wars and/or the destruction of our planet. He is declaring a "War Free" planet and for those who disagree he will have to deal with them. The major nations of the planet applaud his actions and all agree to an immediate worldwide peace. In return he promises to share technology, fight hunger, famine and disease.

The population of the world rejoices and any small pockets of resistance is quickly squashed by Krypto buddy or even the world governments.Superman has now become a pariah, the way the world sees it, he has been here for years and had kept technology that could have saved many of the worlds problems.

Anyone else read Flashpoint: Project Superman #2?

General Lane kills Krypto. :cmad:

It also sounds like Mike was watching too many episodes of "V" :p

I think some of the destruction pics would make sense for his arrival in the spaceship?

Interesting, especially this part...
"It turns out their needs for Metropolis exteriors have whittled down," Mr. Moskal said. While WB's are still tweaking many creative aspects, it seems there was far more digital work and perhaps less of a need for practical on-the-scene filming."

i don't mind that...i wanna see metropolis, not chicago. i actually don't like that they're using chicago. i've seen that city enough, i hope it's unrecognizable
