All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - Part 4

I guess we won't be seeing Cavill saving Frisky out of a tree...he's no Superman of mine :hehe:

I guess my question is how big a part does General Zod have in the film? I think Michael Shannon is a great pick to play him. I just hope it's not a bit part.

He and Faora are the villains of the movie... think it's safe to assume he has a pretty big part...

I think Batman4ever referring to STM like Zod where he is only in the beginning and don't show back up till SII.

Well the difference between then and now's situation is that STM and SII was written as one BIG film that was eventually split up into two parts, so technically, Zod was written to come back in the same film only for it to be separated into another film.

Since MOS is not being filmed or written that way, then I doubt Zod's role in this will be like STM's one.

Yes, i know that. Yet it could be like BB where will get a different villain working up to the show-down with Zod in the second. In BB we got the Scare Crow and had to wait for the sequel to see the Joker even thou in Batman (89) he was the first villain for Batman. That said I do think your right Zod will be battling Supes in MOS. Yet, seems hard to intrudes Supes to the world and have a big battle with Zod! Maybe this is how the world will fall in love with Superman as the wolds protector! DAMN I CANT WAIT!!!!! ;)

I wonder if Zod is the Scarecrow equivalent in the film with a hidden villain amongst the cast as the big bad.

I think Zod and Faora are it. I do however hope that a strong presence of Brainiac is felt. You know, just in case a sequel happens.

I'd swear that the performance and arc are as important.

If you want to be nitpicky then my point was exactly that. His arc served the purpose in the film as did his performance. I saw nothing wrong with Cillian Murphy's performance or the arc he had.

If you did then that's your opinion. I thought both arc and performance were absolutely fine.

Let's have Lois tasing Zod so he screams like a school girl out of the movie?

Again you seem to be dead-set on coming across as someone who doesn't understand comparisons so I'm going to just let you be. I forget that sometimes having a discussion isn't enough unless there's some form of criticism aimed at Nolan's Batman films.

I think Zod will play a major role in this movie unless there is another BIGGER villain they haven't told us about yet

There are already two major villains with Zod and Faora. Adding a third on a similar or larger scale may lead to overkill a la Spider-Man 3, Batman & Robin.
Maybe someone behind the scenes? Like a Brainiac or Luthor?
I'm still kinda shocked by Meloni not playing General Lane and instead it being some 'Colonel Hardy.'
Remember Meloni has previously said he was cast as a General?
Perhaps Snyder and co. realized that General Lane as a villain would have caused to many movie critics to point out the similarities between him and a certain Thunderbolt Ross. Interestingly, we have a whole new generation comic fans growing up with Gen Lane as a villain, something us pre Crisis and post Crisis Superman fans never experienced.

I can see how Meloni's character's title can change especially if he's just a supporting character. And I for one would love to see the US military vs Superman at first, as in they aren't sure they can trust him but then by the end of the movie or close to the end they know that he is there to protect us, not harm us

According to Plano Area Chamber of Commerce executive Richard Healy, "They're going to be blowing stuff up." Healy also states at some time during the filming soldiers will repel from a helicopter onto the set. Whatever weapons they will be shooting, Healy also added that brass shell casings would be left on the streets.

Watching superman the movie. Cavill has some very big boots to fill.

That's because contrary to belief, feet are more in proportion to height than other areas. He is a few inches shorter, so would have a smaller foot size.
