seriously...i hope they add "The" to the title. "Man of Steel" doesn't sound quite as epic or official as "The Man of Steel"...

Autumn Frost: A Man of Steel Story.

Or they will probably just go with "From the studio that brought you The Departed" and call it a day.

Man of Steel Based on The Graphic Novel Superman by Jerry Siegel

Assuming that MOS turns out to be an success and begins a whole new franchise for Superman on the big screen, I'm hoping that when it comes to the selection of Villains, that we get to see Lex and Brainiac in the second film, followed by Darkseid in the third and final one, and when you really think about it, it would follow the method that Nolan's franchise has taken when it's come to selecting their villains.

1. Batman Begins: Ra's Al Ghul and Scarecrow

2. MOS: General Zod and Faora

3. TDK: The Joker and Two Face

4. MOS Sequel: Lex and Brainiac

5. TDKR: Bane

6. MOS Third Film: Darkseid

The First films of the franchises introduces a intelligent and formidable antagonist towards the hero, while the second films introduces the archenemy of the protagonist backed by another well known Villain from the protagonist's rogue gallery, and the final film of the series introduces the most physically strongest villain from the characters rogue gallery.

I'm hoping Snyder doesn't go with the new 'depowered Superman' DC approach.

Or Man Of Marshmallow might be more apt :(

Well considering that the story for MOS was created a couple of years before the relaunch, I don't think it'll go there, and if the new comic reboot turns out to be a big flop, then I doubt that they'll ever want to go there.

"The Man of Steel or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying About the Suit and Love the Movie."
:oldrazz:

I think it is better with "The" just think about it:

The Man of Steel
The Dark Knight
The Caped Crusader
The Boy Wonder
The Scarlet Speedster
The First Avenger

It just makes it sound so much better.

I'm a Superman noob, but what significance does the tornado have on him? It's a tornado...and he isn't Superman yet. Does it help him realize his powers or something?

Pretty much. If I remember right in Secret Origins it's when he first learns to fly.

Ah, OK. That would make sense. I assume he finds out the rest by helping with the wreckage. (X-Ray vision, strength, ect)

This could be the event where he realises he wants to help people.

You can refer to him as the man of steel, but Man of Steel bereft of "the" looks better from a motion picture perspective. It definitely works for The Dark Knight though.

Three words: The + Dark + Knight = fine
Three words (again): Man+of+Steel = fine
Four words? The+Man+of+Steel = fail

That's just my opinion though. :yay:

I think the "The" in the title puts more significance on him being THE Man of Steel. There is no other. When you leave it out it could be hinting that he is ONE of the many Men of Steel, or the only one. The "The" makes it a definite.

I, actually, like the title simply as Man of Steel, it sounds cleaner (don't ask me why) and better. :yay:

Would have made more sense if you said three syllables, but that falls apart with pretty much every other example.

I didn't know that Kryptonians needed to develop the ability to want to help people.

:oldrazz:

In Superman for All Seasons, a tornado causes a great amount of damage in Smallville, and Clark feesl guilty about not being able to stop it. He then makes the decision to use his powers to help people.

See, with all the others your right, it does sound better, and I can't even imagine titles like 'First Avenger' or 'Dark Knight' having worked on their own.

But it's different with 'Man of Steel'. That works.

When you look at it from a purely asthetic point of view, 'Man of Steel' on it's own will look better on posters. It's almost more symmetrical if you know what I mean.

And to me it just sounds better too.

It's short, simple, powerful.
