All Things Superman: An Open Discussion - Part 4

I have some more ideas for a Superman origin story set in a realistic world:

• As stated before, when Superman first appears helping people, he is feared because of his power.
• Superman realizes that the people he protects are afraid of him, so he must earn their trust, so they know they have nothing to fear.
• Many reporters want the scoop on this godlike man, so Superman decides to give an interview to explain his intentions and so forth to the world, and the reporter he chooses is Lois Lane of the Daily Planet. The reason for this choice (in the context of the film) would actually be given in the film, but I haven't decided it yet.

What do you guys think?

I'd say it needs to be a LOT more complicated than him giving a press conference.

People should start to trust him (and even then, not unanimously) when they see him fighting, risking his life, for their freedom. When they can see in his actions over the course of the movie that he is not malicious, that he is here to help.

The new info for filming is this: Mon 8/15 for movie trailer footage 1pm-8pm in Plano & the streets will be closed and simultaneious shooting of hospital scenes in Sandwich on Pleasant. Plano tentavely extended filming 8/22-9/2 w/ the helicopter scenes on 8/25 and backup heliciopter scenes on 8/27, D'town Chicago 9/9-9/11 for exterior shots, crew and ppl that work in city said Superman, Zod and Faora will show up during Plano filming. Ok, that about covers it.

Hopefully the "battle" scenes we'll see will be with SUPERMAN and the the villains, rather than young clark .... im sure its the first, so yeah would be amazing to see the suit in a different light

I hope to see some awesome pics myself...although I plan to try and not know what is going on in the film before I see it. I have followed too many movies in the past and known every scene before I saw it. I want Man of Steel to be a surprise! I hope I can resist!

Once, MOS moves to Vancouver to shoot I think the pics won't come in as much!

It would be a combination of both. He keeps saving people and holds press conferences to earn the public's trust.

Filming began May 2nd. We got our first look at Batman last month.

We won't see a full shot until filming in Vancouver is my guess since HC will dressed up in the glasses an Clark Kent gear!

Not really a fan of Supes granting interviews, holding press conferences, addressing the UN, etc. I think having him be something of an enigma to the general public is more dramatically interesting. Plus, it makes the personal moments with the Kents or Lois – when the guard is down - more significant.

Moreover, in this age of slippery politicians, despots and televangelists, who’s going to be convinced by what someone says? Supes is a man of action. His consistently noble deeds are what win people over – not anything he might express in an interview.

Also, it should be an ongoing theme in future sequels. There should always be this sort of small contingent that think he's evil or distrust him (but not in a Jonah Jameson way; more in a religious/racial hatred sort of a way). And he should always be working to gain trust. That's realistic.

Well, I actually wouldn't bank on Nolan NOT being involved at least as a Producer of a potential Worlds Finest film that involves Bale and Cavill.

Resist! U must! It aggravates me seeing these spies from the sets of films leaking footage from a shoot like some of the stuff that is happening with TDKRises. It's lame.

Dunno if this has been posted, but here it is:

'True Blood' star Joe Manganiello depressed after missing out on 'Superman' role

I think he probably could've made a pretty good Superman, even though Henry Cavill is a good cast.

Joe was my second choice. His enthusiasm for the part really appealed to me, and has the superhero vibe about him though Cavill is the better actor.

Here is hoping that if Bizzaro is used, which I think can be done, that Joe is cast in the role.
