The Zod thing has nothing to do with today, that's obvious. But the very nature of the video, with the static and the threatening voice, and the ultimatum... Especially the fact that the static, and the "You are not alone" messages were randomly playing on billboards, and in times square today... It could make people uneasy because people are dumb.
When people are angry, upset and afraid, they lash out at easy targets.
