Its because its so generic. It felt like the Avengers music to me... it serves its purpose but its not memorable once it is over.

How was it generic? Slow build up, unusual time signature, tribal drums, heroic undertones.

I don't comprehend the dislike for it here. It seems to be getting overwhelmingly positive feedback everywhere else. Frankly, I don't think the casual fan is going to dwell on Williams' score.

Yup no Daily Planet and no Daily Planet Clark Kent either.

Because that comes at the end. I think it is pretty apparent now that he starts working there as a cover, at the end of the film. Probably going to be his first day.

so what is that first shot. looks like a battle on krypton. maybe showing zod in battle before he is sent to the phantom zone.

Good piece of world building, this. Not in your face, but it's there to see. Lex Luthor exists in this movie and is taking all of these events in.

Does an unusual time signature, slow build, and tribal drums scream "Superman" to you? Because it doesn't to me.

And its not because I'm just hung up on William's score... I love a lot of the DCAU scores for Superman.

Its very generic. You could throw it in any superhero movie, including the Avengers, and it would work. It doesn't stand out.

Nah... Avengers was memorable, this? we'll see as time goes on but my initial reaction is...meh.

I disagree that the music is like The Avengers music, I litterally can't remember anything about the music in that film. This music is already better than that. Again it's not OMG Amazing or anything but I like it.

I agree with JMC that it grows on you.

Just going through IMDb and just learned that we'll be seeing young versions of Lana Lang, Pete Ross and Whitney Fordham in Smallville. Works for me. Be cool to see Lana and Pete grown up later as they do get married in the comics don't they? Doesn't need to be too much focus on them though.

Also I can get behind Clark starting Day 1 at the Daily Planet at the end of the film. Hopefully he'll be the mild-mannered reporter Clark Kent and not the Donner stumbling Kent we've been accustomed to. I suppose at least Dean Cain's Clark Kent wasn't like that however. Maybe we'll also see a shirt rip at the end with some mention that say Toyman is creating havoc or something.

I had heard that somewhere but obviously I wasn't sure. If they did show a shot of DP Clark in the trailer it would have definitley been out of place anyways.

Indeed. They know they didn't make the movie, no matter how WB markets it.

This is very much Snyder's baby.

Agreed. Snyder deserves majority of the praise. Goyer, Roven and The Nolans all played their roles but they didn't direct the film.

That movie didn't look like anything Snyder or Nolan made before. In fact, it didn't even look like a Superman flick...in a good way.

I think it is hilarious that the final shot was him punching Zod in mid-air and there was a giant mechanical spider.

At least you know they were able to use that money they spent all those years ago.

Lois was following Clark here as an unknown guy, a ghost saving people while on his way, so I was wondering if, in her reports, he will call him
The Blur.

:pal:

Hard to top Williams.

Jenny Olsen had a little cameo in the trailer. No perry though right?

Yeah. Tough for me to love it.

Impossible to top Williams. But it doesn't need to.

I am sure Perry is in the scene with the little shot of Jenny, but I don't think he is visible. So yep, not in the trailer. Still so much to see from this film.

Thank you Kane! I'm glad to not be alone.

Again, I'm not just hung up on Williams. I like a lot of the DCAU themes for Superman, and they don't copy Williams. This just isn't doing anything for me.

It screams 'new' to me, which is exactly what it should sound like. I said this before it shares elements of the Williams theme but it's almost like an inverted version of that theme. It suits the tone of the film not the character. I'm not sure exactly what it is you were hoping for, it's very hard for movie themes to make the kind of mark you want these days given the amount of big blockbuster films around.

Personally, the score featured in the trailer is an acquired taste. At first, I was kinda baffled by it but learned to like it.
