I am probably wrong her, but isn't the S meaning in the comics one of the following.

A. The house of El

B. The symbol for the sun of krypton "Sol"

Two things:

Krypton's sun is called Rao. Sol is Earth's sun :woot:

Second, the Crest of El, according tho this film, stands for "hope". My reasoning for this is that it's a stylized iconographic representation of two hands holding each other, be they two hands from the same person folded in prayer (i.e. "asking for hope") or two different hands holding each other, i.e. conferring hope upon each other.

I'm glad they showed that interrogation scene. At least Superman doesn't look uptight for the whole film.

I still wish the suit was lightened a bit, but overall its going to be a great film :D

Are these Zod's bullets? And if they're not, Supes is probably leaving just so that the helicopters don't destroy Metropolis.

All I can say is, WOW. The trailer literally blew me away. I had to hold back tears when Costner said "You are my son," and when the main theme kicked in (Zimmer, FTW!), I just about jumped up and fist pumped the air. I'm LOVING everything I'm seeing in this movie. Cavill looks and sounds fantastic, Adams, Crowe, Costner, Lane, Zurer, Shannon and everyone else look like they're knocking it out of the park as well. People can complain about Snyder all they want, but he looks like he's done a spectacular job here. Now, I know we still need to see the movie to be sure, but this looks stunning. June 14 can't come fast enough.

glad its not just me. That was so POWERFUL!

Men with broken hearts are pathetic?
Men who left their partners for 5 years without saying goodbye and then getting upset when she gets with someone else are kind of pathetic...:o

It doesn't look like a 100% emotional reason - there definitely seems to be a physical urgency to that shot as well, and he's getting emotional because of the pressure.

I think MOS will have something for most modern superman fans to enjoy. At the same time, it will lack the magic Donner's films had. Pretty much every comic movie today lacks that magic as well.

BTW, its nice to see some respect being shown for what Donner/Reeve brought to the table, instead of nitpicking it to death.

From me, there will always be respect for that film. I feel the same way about Burton's two Batman films, even while saying that Nolan's trilogy is the definitive for this viewer....

Yeah, such a simple line and yet the delivery just tugs at your heartstrings. People give Costner a lot of crap for some of his past films (Robin Hood, Waterworld) but in the right role, the man is amazing (Dances with Wolves, JFK, Mr. Brooks and hopefully, Man of Steel).

Men with broken hearts are pathetic?

The way Returns developed that whole story line in the film was extremely underdeveloped. I didn't like it. And I'm not hating on Returns, I think it's a decent film.

I think it's A LOT more but YouTube is having trouble processing it. Because it was 301 for about 8 hours, then around 200.000 then it jumped to 1.8 million and now it's still there while the video has almost 40.000 likes which is a bit more than 1/3 of what the first trailer has which has 31 million views. :word:

Btw, I don't know if people talked about it yet but in this shot:

With Superman doing his faster than speeding bullet routine, there seems to be someone else flying into the jet, Faora or Zod based on the all black suit. Maybe to protect a fellow Kryptonian? I doubt it but still interesting. What a great shot. Thank you ZACK SNYDER!

I also think this movie is going to really put Snyder on the map. Every shot looks like a masterpiece of lighting, composition and framing.

He should already be on the map for such things.

Anyway I respect Grace's opinion. But if this new trailer didnt impress her, nothing will. Grace wants a light hearted happy go lucky Superman and this isn't that

Young Clark [upset]: Can I still pretend I'm your son?
Pa Kent: You are my son! [hugs Clark]

Young Bruce [upset]: I miss them so much.
Alfred: So do I. So do I. [hugs Bruce]

Very similarly framed scenes both at crucial moments in the character's history.

after watching the new MOS trailer, SR no longer exists to me..............:o

THIS is how you do a Superman movie.

Even though I had to wait 7 years, from all that I've seen and heard so far, the wait for MOS will be well worth it.

When this trailer hits the theaters, it will definitely make a statement. This time..........Superman HAS RETURNED!!

Anyone have any idea what films the trailer will be attached to in the UK? Considering Oblivion is already in cinemas here.

For what it's worth, the Man of Steel trailer thread has just under 20,000 upvotes on reddit, whereas the Star Trek trailer only has 6500.

The most upvotes an Iron Man 3 trailer received was 16,000.

The reaction to this trailer across the internet leads me to believe this could be a $1 billion+ movie.

I don't want to tempt fate but I think WBs definitely has a hit on their hands

star trek 2009 was very popular. a optimistic bright movie. ST2 looks boring. dark hahahah?

Wasn't there rumours if a scene where the military fire at Zod but Superman flys in the way and takes the shot, which then leads to Zod going crazy on them

I understand people wanting a lighter movie but at this point I just want a good movie. The Donner movie or sorta movies never did much for me eventhough I like parts of them and I didn't like Returns so I'm not going to be too picky. As long asMan of Steel is agood film I will be happy.

The MoS words hold about 3x more context imo.
That bat stuff comes off kinda flat for me, as do most emotional beats in that first movie.
