One thing I loved about the trailer is that it was amazing at the same time as it didn't show or give away too much. Tip of the iceberg like Goyer said.

My only complaint is that his hair is a bit long, maybe the cut it a bit shorter for the sequel. Also sort of pissed about the f35s. The military would use f22s.

Aren't the F-35's phasing in? Or am I thinking ahead of myself?

I don't even get the slightest hint of the Donner vibe which is really funny cause there are some people at the SHH forums who won't even give this film a chance cause its supposedly a rehash of the first two Superman films.

No they are but they dont have the air superiority that the f22s have. The f35 is being used because most f22s have been cut but then even most of those are being cut. we're short on both, but the f22 is more expensive, so the f35 is being pushed as the better plane, it isn't. simple as that. If aliens attack I'm jumping in an f22.

Oh yes. And it pisses me off. :o

SONY moving AFTER EARTH up a week to May 31st.
Did that MOS trailer scare some movie companies ? ;)

MOS would have smashed that film into the ground. It looks pretty dull.

How could be a shortage of warplanes? I find that phrase hilarious!

I would not say it looked dull. I actually think it looked a bit interesting, compared to M Night's previous few films. I would have waited until DVD to see it though.

AFTER EARTH was just moved up. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=103179

Perhaps getting out of the way of MOS.

Would moving "Man of Steel" up a week make sense now? It would get 2 weeks of free play before "Monsters U" and WWZ hit.

Obviously it is not going to happen (I just want the movie to get here already :yay: ), just asking if it would make sense. Or would the lack of a big event movie for 2 whole lull weeks of summer make the anticipation and last week marketing blitz for MoS into a bigger deal.

EDIT: Also, anyone think that "This is the End" may move to June 7th? Only "The Internship" is on that weekend currently, and that movie seems to have much less buzz than almost any other movie releasing this summer.

Does anyone get a Donner vibe watching the new trailer ? cause I DON'T.
I grew up with the first 2 Donner films. Hell, I sight seeing Donner's first film when i was 5, as the reason I became fascinated with film.
But to say that this re-interpretation is basically a remake of Superman 1 and 2 just seems to me, to be a unsubstantial argument, and quite honestly, seems to be a over-reaching point of view.
Nolan is helping Synder do exactly what he did with Batman
Where there elements in Nolan's film that were reflective of past incarnations ? Yes, but very few. Could Joker's hit me scene be reminiscent of Jack Nicholson's line in Burton's film ? Yes.
What i am trying to say is, while there may be "familiar" elements of previous incarnations of Superman in Man of Steel, calling MOS a remake of Donner's first two films, is such a fallacy.

Nope it is like comparing apples and oranges, when I see the Donner movies of Superman and Krypton I see a regal magestic setting and characters, so far seeing MOS I see a midevil/crusades type of setting and characters.

You wanna know what really scares me? I mean what truely scares me? The fact I might actually love this film more than The Christopher Reeve films. He was my Superman and I feel that once I see this movie I will never look at those films ever again in the same light and you know that frightens me in a weird way I guess, more so because I grew up with those films, grew up playing outside as Christopher Reeve while in a Superman costume, grew up going to the same video store and renting the VHS Superman II over and over and over again. So I guess I fear that I wouldnt be able to enjoy those old movies again, however I try to tell myself that I can enjoy them both. Plus in the next 25-30 years they will probably remake Superman again and the youth growing up with Cavill will probably have the same arguements about whomever gets recast again as Superman. I am sure when Reeve was cast people who grew up and loved George Reeves felt the same way.

However I am going to give this film a real real chance, its a fresh slate for all Superman fans I believe especially after the "casting wars of 2006" on here and on other sites. Sure this movie will never get all people to agree but if we can "believe" while enjoying "our versions" of the perfect Superman then why can't we all enjoy this film. I truely believe Christopher Reeve and Dana Reeve would give this film it's blessing, I would be curious to see if Christopher Reeve's oldest son has said anything regarding MOS.

No sir I don't either. Great points btw.

I just don't see it. There is vitually no discernible plot from the trailer other than 'they crash, they try not to die'. There appears to only be the two characters - Will Smith and his Son. Even the visuals aren't particularly unique or anything.

I'd say at this point, it looks the least like an M Night movie of anything he's done, but not in a good way... like just less interesting than even his previous movies have been.

I dunno, maybe they are just bad trailers and there actually is a lot more to the film.

I've been thinking for a while now that something like that might happen with at least one movie close to MOS. I bet we'll see at least one more move away from MOS. :word:

Very possible. As a artist, i think M Night is a much better producer than director. I feel the main problem with some of his films, (putting the shock endings/ elements aside) is that he tries to cram all these themes, elements, and ideas, into one film, and the final product feels jumbled and disorganized.

I just remembered that After Earth and This is the End are both from Sony. Watch them move This is the End from 12th to 7th now. Now if only MU moved away from MOS and my BO prediction would be very very possible. :oldrazz:
