Wow. So next year is gonna be jammed with the big guns TDKR, ASM, MOS, Skyfall, and Avengers.

MoS probably won't be a 2012 film. It could be ready for 2012 release, but I don't see it atm.

I agree. I think if anything they should push it back to a very good mid July 2013 slot.

WB's will want to give Snyder, and the editing team and the SVFX, and CGI guys as much post production time as possible to make this Supes film look and feel great!

They don't want another Superman Returns and they sure as heck don't want another rushed mess like Green Lantern!

Plus, MOS will be WB's next big superhero-franchise post Batman. Then it just wouldnt make sense to have it open the same year as the final Batman-flick. But an entire year does seem like a long wait though.

Uh, if MOS does get released late next year to box-office success and critical & audience raves -- it will be a great one-two punch for WB. Particularly since the HP series is ended and with the Nolan-Batman series ending next year.

The thing is, MOS went filming with a December 2012 release in mind before WB initially settled on June 14, 2013. From what the mods have heard, the production is still aiming to have the movie completed before the end of next year. I don't see how editing on set and sending finished scenes for CGI rendering is rushing through it. After the completed scenes are fully rendered and the movie wraps shooting, it gives Snyder more time to arrange, trim and refine the movie to his liking. (That can't be a bad thing.)

It means one of several things: 1) WB really likes what they see and wants to have it out sooner or later, 2) Snyder doesn't want to slow down and rather get the movie done in the original timeframe, or 3) One of WB's other holiday 2012 movies is behind schedule and they want MOS as a placeholder in case they want to swap it out.

Anything's possible.

Also leaves a lot of time for sound design, a critical component to movies most people forget about. Also leaves time to really evaluate choices. I almost always side on movies needing more time to explore as many options as possible.

Think about how severe and swift the reaction was from the studio on the story, where there is smoke there is fire. There is so much more to that story that was held back. It can be proved they were discussing it internally, and that is all that was presented in the article, discussing scenarios. Why would they bother even acknowledging it, if there wasn't some truth to it. See Khan in Star Trek.

Well if it really was going to be MOS moved forward and The Hobbit pushed back, how late could we get the official confirmation from the studio?

At what point does the date become set in stone?

I'll just say this.

How often does the head of marketing to a multi-billion-dollar film studio directly respond to information originating from an independently-run movie-news site mere hours after publication? Especially when you factor in how many film-centric sites exist on the interwebs. Thus why bother rebutting any claims if the info in question is bogus.

And notice you haven't heard a peep from Peter Jackson's Facebook page, the same one WB set up to send out exclusive content, video, pics, etc. The one that "Jackson himself" (aka one of his underlings) is running. Plus you just saw what happens when info gets leaked early before the head honchos have time to spin it their way. They lie, i.e. the Khan leak. Just food for thought, kiddos.

Yeah. Take POTC 4, for example. It started shooting less than a year before it's release date, but the director edited on set and sent finished scenes over to ILM for rendering. When the movie came out, it didn't feel rushed or incomplete at all. Plus, Spielberg has been editing his movies on set too.

I don't know if Snyder has done this before (editing scenes as they're being shot), but it seems pretty efficient.

So The Hobbit may be delayed after all, and the studio lied to save face? It's not like they haven't lied before.

So... editorially... why not include a "we stand by our original story/sources" along with WB's denial?

So since this it was rumoured that Hobbit isn't been pushed back why do people still think Man of Steel is coming 2012?

Normally that would be a good point, but its not "advantageous" to us at this point.

Will you do that when/if WB pushes up the MOS date? Or will WB send a cease-and-desist letter even after the fact?

We are free to write about anything we want, and we have very good sources, within WB. We can repost at any time, we are being patient.

There was no cease, we didn't take it down because it all of a sudden wasn't true..

Ah, got it.

I wonder why Nikki Finke a la TOLDJA hasn't posted anything about this. You'd figure she and/or Mike Fleming would pry this open...

They will probably break it four weeks from now and call it an exclusive.

:woot:

I can picture DHD's headlines:

"WB to move 'Hobbit' to Dec. 2013, move 'Man of Steel' into Dec. '12 spot?"

followed by:

"TOLDJA EXCLUSIVE: WB to release 'Man of Steel' Christmas Day 2012, 'Hobbit' nabs Dec. 2013 and 2014 dates instead."

Regardless. If WB's moves the release date of MOS, it should be to XMas week or to July 2013.

Those are two better release dates overall than that June one IMO.

I have heard different things regarding what cameras Snyder and his DOP are using for shooting. Are they using some IMAX cameras for some scenes?

whats interesting is that there was meant to be a Hobbit teaser with Sherlock. it looks like there wont be any teaser. maybe they couldnt finish the effects. maybe they didnt want Hobbit and TDKR together.

As long as post will not be rushed when it comes perfecting the sound, editing, and SFX and CGI renderings for a Dec 2012 release, than I will be all for it.

That's an IF....

I wouldn't go that far. There still might be a Hobbit teaser. Elijah Wood speculated (and for some reason, some decided to put words in his mouth to make it sound definitive) it could be in front of Tintin.

i forgot TinTin is not realesed in US. its a 3D movie.

p.s.: TinTin is a fun movie. everyone should watch it. we need a Peter Jackson sequel :awesome:

That would EPIC and cool.

hell, I'd say, that if Snyder and Crew are able to finish their product efficiently in time for a late 2012 release, then just have it released then instead of just waiting 6 extra months.
