MoS probably won't be a 2012 film. It could be ready for 2012 release, but I don't see it atm.
Plus, MOS will be WB's next big superhero-franchise post Batman. Then it just wouldnt make sense to have it open the same year as the final Batman-flick. But an entire year does seem like a long wait though.
Also leaves a lot of time for sound design, a critical component to movies most people forget about. Also leaves time to really evaluate choices. I almost always side on movies needing more time to explore as many options as possible.Uh, if MOS does get released late next year to box-office success and critical & audience raves -- it will be a great one-two punch for WB. Particularly since the HP series is ended and with the Nolan-Batman series ending next year.
The thing is, MOS went filming with a December 2012 release in mind before WB initially settled on June 14, 2013. From what the mods have heard, the production is still aiming to have the movie completed before the end of next year. I don't see how editing on set and sending finished scenes for CGI rendering is rushing through it. After the completed scenes are fully rendered and the movie wraps shooting, it gives Snyder more time to arrange, trim and refine the movie to his liking. (That can't be a bad thing.)
It means one of several things: 1) WB really likes what they see and wants to have it out sooner or later, 2) Snyder doesn't want to slow down and rather get the movie done in the original timeframe, or 3) One of WB's other holiday 2012 movies is behind schedule and they want MOS as a placeholder in case they want to swap it out.
Anything's possible.

And notice you haven't heard a peep from Peter Jackson's Facebook page, the same one WB set up to send out exclusive content, video, pics, etc. The one that "Jackson himself" (aka one of his underlings) is running. Plus you just saw what happens when info gets leaked early before the head honchos have time to spin it their way. They lie, i.e. the Khan leak. Just food for thought, kiddos.
Think about how severe and swift the reaction was from the studio on the story, where there is smoke there is fire. There is so much more to that story that was held back. It can be proved they were discussing it internally, and that is all that was presented in the article, discussing scenarios. Why would they bother even acknowledging it, if there wasn't some truth to it.
So... editorially... why not include a "we stand by our original story/sources" along with WB's denial?
Normally that would be a good point, but its not "advantageous" to us at this point.
Will you do that when/if WB pushes up the MOS date? Or will WB send a cease-and-desist letter even after the fact?
There was no cease, we didn't take it down because it all of a sudden wasn't true..
They will probably break it four weeks from now and call it an exclusive.

I can picture DHD's headlines:
"WB to move 'Hobbit' to Dec. 2013, move 'Man of Steel' into Dec. '12 spot?"
followed by:
"TOLDJA EXCLUSIVE: WB to release 'Man of Steel' Christmas Day 2012, 'Hobbit' nabs Dec. 2013 and 2014 dates instead."
whats interesting is that there was meant to be a Hobbit teaser with Sherlock. it looks like there wont be any teaser. maybe they couldnt finish the effects. maybe they didnt want Hobbit and TDKR together.
i forgot TinTin is not realesed in US. its a 3D movie.I wouldn't go that far. There still might be a Hobbit teaser. Elijah Wood speculated (and for some reason, some decided to put words in his mouth to make it sound definitive) it could be in front of Tintin.
