After seeing the reaction from people about IM3, I'm more convinced than ever that MoS will be the one summer film this year in which mostly everyone loves and agrees on. The film that's easy to love and I think that could possibly translate well for it in the box office, it might not break records in the opening weekend but i think it will definitely have some strong legs and people will want to rewatch and bring their friends along.

Not that it means it will be a better film (it now has to work a lot harder to top IM3 for me) but it could make a hell of a lot more money than I previously thought.

The ship looks huge. too huge for a scout ship. its much bigger than what I think of a scout ship being. why not just send a probe.
I agree with the other posters in thinking it held pioneers.

Interesting..The only problem I have with the idea of kryptonian pioneers in Earth's past is what happened to them? From what we know about kryptonians, once they reach earth, they pretty much live forever compared to us. at least after they've absorbed a sufficient amount of sunlight they do.

The ship from what we can tell, doesn't looked crashed to the point that it would have killed anyone when it came down, but who knows.

Now if goyer wants to explain that they went mad and died from sensory overload after landing, or simply built another ship from the remaining parts and left, then great. I just hope it isn't mentioned how superman will live thousands of years and the reasons why the pioneers are no longer around isnt touched upon.

EDIT. It could be something as simple as they went mad while still in space from sensory overload and killed each other, then the ship, on auto pilot, landed on its on.
If they died from sensory overload, why didnt Kalel die as well when he arrived without an helmet.?
I personally think the sensory overload isnt as fatal as people think-
its just a nuisance to kryptonians learning to use their powers.

Not sure why IM3 convinces you of this?

well if Jorel had intended for it to be used by Kalel later on,it makes sense itd be that big.
After all he did put the suit in it,and gave him a key.

Iron Man 3 will be more popular. However, it feels like a great film that could have been made at pretty much any recent time. MOS looks like it's a lightning-in-the-bottle film that's made during Superman's 75th anniversary, with great writers and producers, and evidently, a strong directorial vision. But I feel that I will enjoy both.

I'm guessing Kal-El discovers the source of his power at the FOS. Hence when in the trailer it goes "they will join you in the sun", he looks up at the sun and basks in its rays. Like "OH, all along, it was you this whole time"

There was a telling moment – we put him in the Christopher Reeve costume, because we didn’t have a suit yet, we just had the old spandex suit. He stepped out of the trailer and no one laughed. It’s the difference between being Superman and dressing up like Superman.

Is there a photo of this anywhere? I'd love to see that.

Better film is a matter of opinion, it can be different for different people.

But IM 3 is looking set to dominate the summer Box Office collections this year, it has also got a great reception from critics and a very good Tomatometer rating so far.

MOS will find it hard to beat the Tomatometer rating and the Box Office collections of IM 3.

I am just hoping that general audience (and critics) like MOS and that it make about 700 mil worldwide, but it won't be easy.

I know. Its sounding more and more like it. I would prefer Jor-el not know what was gonna happen, or what Kal would need once he was on earth.
He would know that kal would have superpowers because of our sun, but thats it.
It's just a nitpick. It doesn't change a thing about how I feel or my excitement for mos.

well, MoS is a reboot, IM 3 is his third film, 4th if you want to count Avengers. It's suppose to make more. If it didnt, then something would be bad wrong. I expect IM 1 numbers for MoS's BO. More than that is icing on the cake.

I think IM numbers are quite likely and those numbers may stop WB from plcaing a JLmovie over MOS 2.
BUT I think it will take TDK numbers to guarantee we get MOS 2 in 2015 instead of a JL.hopefully in that time they get it together and pump out a WW and Flash movie

This is definitely true. I think Joss Whedon is an excellent writer and storyteller. But Zack Snyder really does wipe the floor with him when it comes to visionary directing. Every single shot in that MOS trailer looks 10X better in terms of composition, art, and framing then anything in the Avengers. As great as the Avengers was I couldn't escape the 'TV movie' type feel throughout most of it.
Can we stop the Whedon bashing Please?

Dude read what I said. I love Joss Whedon. Firefly and Buffy are 2 of my fav shows. And I said Avengers was awesome. His directing just pales in comparison to Snyder though. Just compare those anamorphic shots in the MOS trailers to anything in the Avengers. Or shots like this:

Yeah true, his visuals aren't as good as his writing/directing. Snyder on the other hand has some great visuals, but his writing is nowhere as good as Whedon IMO. That said, I'm perfectly content with Whedon doing Marvel and Snyder doing DC. It's all good to me :woot:

I read what you said .
"TV Movie Feel " isnt a compliment Smallville.

If we’re placing requests, I could do without the…

-Nolan
-Singer
-Routh
-Welling
-DC
-Marvel
-chocolate
-vanilla

…bashing.

:cwink:

it's not bashing it just a fact whedon has a very bland visual style very similar to bryan singer

this shot right here is more beautiful than any thing i saw in avengers

So moderate BO intake equals a JL greenlight, but TDK numbers equals a fast-tracked MOS sequel?

pretty much sounds like it.:yay:
I'm not so sure. Didn't Goyer say in the AMA that the entire DC film universe is riding on the success of MOS. I'm pretty sure the higher the BO of MOS, the more likely JL will happen sooner rather than later.

This is not what I want of course. I hate how everyone here considers Nolans Batman films sacred from JL contamination but for MOS it's free reign. I really hope that behind the scenes Snyder still has his conviction he had from the start that this will be it's own thing like Nolans films. He's just saving face for WB reps at the moment. But if MOS is a success he'll pitch a sequel concept and justify it out that less legwork would be required to get started right away than even attempt to tackle JL which could really kill their entire properties for years if a colossal failure.

Am I the only one who thinks Jor-El didn't say GO BE A GOD TO THEM? I think Lara was telling Jor-El that "He'll be an outcast...little Kal-El" which he responds with "How? He'll be a God to them"....Or am I going crazy?

The success of MOS dtermines whether WB goes ahead with creating other non-Bat Dc movies and it determines how. Thats what he means

If Mos is a TDK level success they dont need to rush out a JL movie anymore. They can take their time to work on it while MOS would be able to serve as their 2015 tentpole instead facing against Star wars and Avengers 2.

Whereas a decent BO means the opposite.

I share the same sentiments.
