I'm afraid I disagree. IF MoS makes 550/600 mill+ worldwide, is well recieved by the public and critics, then as much as it pains me to say, look out for JL soon after..I dont think WB is expecting anything close to TdK or TdkR numbers. I think they just want, or are expecting, a good BO like I mentioned above and a hunger for more DC films. And, that film looks like it will be JL. They seem to be he11 bent on making it next.
I'd rather have a WF film myself.:o

WB needs a billion dollar frnchise in summer 2015 .The Choices they have is JL or MOS 2 or none at all.
MOS perfomance will determine which will be the choice. If the perfomance of MOS pionts to the sequel having a high likelihood of hitting a billion-then Wb will undoubtedly choose it instead of JL in 2015 as its easier to pull off.IF not then they will choose Jl .

Realistically though Jl has better odds to the be the choice.

Or just won't, because he doesn't want to freak people out. PS. I second the motion of a slow-mo superspeed scene, in which he's obviously moving quickly, but the environment and cape are in slow-mo. Preferably around a serious moment like this:

Should Superman fly with Lois somewhere in the movie? Not for rescuing her from someone/something bad, just flying with her.

I know we have to pretend Man Of Steel is the first Superman movie ever, but it was something i was thinking about yesterday.

^ That seems like stuff that would work better for a sequel. We already have Supes origin, Krypton's fall, Zod's plans, the Lois subplot of finding Clark, etc. Why bog down the narrative with something we've seen before? Adding a flying scene in the sequel can further the romantic aspects. Besides, with all its flaws, I rather enjoyed the flying scene in Returns. Short and to the point, with no poetry. ;)

I would like to see something like him saving a person from an explosion at superspeed. The device/car/whatever starts exploding. maybe its a by-product of the fight, that doesn't matter.
Anyway, Supes stops, and turns to see what the sound is and sees a person in extreme danger.
He starts moving toward them at superspeed and everything around him slows to a halt. He flys in and pulls the person out as the edge of the blastwave is just inches from him/her.

And here’s Snyder on the approach they took when it came to making you believe a man could fly…

“It’s a more violent experience. It’s raw. It takes effort to do it, and that’s what we were really going for. It’s almost like there’s this kind of Right Stuff quality to it. He’s constantly booming around, accelerating. You think he’s going as fast as he can and then it’s like ‘Yeeaahh!’ He’s always got an extra gear he can use.”
This quote combined with the footages from the three trailers made me wonder if Snyder & co have been taking notes from Philip Kaufmann's adaptation of Tom Wolfe's The Right Stuff? LOL. Here's the scene from the film when Chuck Yeager broke the sound barrier - masterful film-making:

Btw, I love The Right Stuff.

Not only has the look of Superman been updated for the film, but his abilities have been given a jumpstart too, specifically flying.

I'm not sure how I feel about this...I always thought that flying for Superman should be effortlessly

it's not bashing it just a fact whedon has a very bland visual style very similar to bryan singer

this shot right here is more beautiful than any thing i saw in avengers

Sorry, but the moment you state your opinion as a fact, you lose all credibility.

Maybe he means the flying fast aspect of it

well if he's just learning how to fly and what not then it would make sense for him to not really have full control over it, in an origin movie (which this is) we should see him just going full out with it and then later seeing what happens with it (such as the sonic boom it can create in a populated area)

DC Comics have revealed something today....I kinda hope that now he's back in the comics we can sorta get him into the movies as well.....who do I speak of??

........Hank Henshaw :D

We haven't seen Clark Kent fly (in ordinary clothes), so Superman can fly only when he is wearing the Suit ?

Does Suit grant him power of flight ?

Now, that I think about it, we never saw Chris Reeve's Clark Kent fly either, it was always shown as Superman flying.

Reading Synder's quote, I didn't know what he meant by The Right Stuff. That video clip was awesome, if they can create that same sense of speed, without making him just a freaking blur like past incarnations...well, that would be very special.

lol i guess you thought wrong. seriously though, this sounds really great. spot on for the kind of film they're trying to do here. im a supes fan from birth and i cant wait (despite not being a Snyder fan).

well of course he means the flying aspect of flying....I don't like that it's a violent experience and that it takes effort to fly. I have always loved the easy goes it take offs. I now wonder if we will get that in the movie

This is probably the first thing about the film I do not like. I love the effortless take offs

I don't think it counts as bashing if you're just stating the truth.

For example, saying "Tom Welling is sh**ty actor" is not bashing.

i agree with it but that example is still an opinion. so yeah its bashing. sorry.

but with a 200 mill dollar budget and weta to back it up...

Doesn't really work well with everything else. If he can move that fast, way doesn't he do it all the time?

Wouldn't everything he did be effortless then?

I meant the fast part of flying...ie turns and bends that kind of stuff, I could be wrong lol.....I'm sure well get those light take offs to

The film adaption of The Right Stuff came out in 1983, it is superb. It's about a group of test pilots out of Edward Air Force base, and also those in Mercury Space Program. A lot of superb flying scenes and non-flying scenes.

not really...flying should just come natural to him. I really want to see Superman hover

Oh and you can bet that the REAL budget is much higher than 175-200. 500 million WW would be a major disappointment from the studios perspective. Don't feel like breaking down the economics of it, but a simple google search will illustrate why MoS needs to make 700m plus to be considered a success. 600 million would be like breaking even and would have a negative effect on all future DC projects.

I get you Rowsdower. cheers.

If has never come more natural then super speed or strength. Superman doesn't come out of the womb flying and most of the time it is one of the final things he learns, if not the final.

I understand what you mean....a powered forceful blastoff can be cool for certain times....but a light levitation and effortless flight is sense of wonderment, alieness, and awe.
