Guys question: a friend of mine is writing an article and he's focusing on the Planet a krypton not blowing up rumour now other than these two article pieces:

In the Empire column it's not a direct quote but the article is describing Krypton in this film and it says: An impossibly large ancient sun is about to consume them all.

Also this quote from Zack:

Ahh I can't remember I'm sure it was in one of his recent interviews, only thing I can find is this "I really wanted my Krypton to be this kind of special place that's immersive and totally different from Earth, but not unbelievable. And ancient. I really wanted to give this ancient feeling to Krypton. I love technology that's rusty because it's so old. It's so advanced, but it's so old. That was the kind of world that I tried to create. A dying world that's ancient and torn apart."

Does anyone know of any others confirming Kryptons destruction?
They show something blowing up in the trailer, and the Early Years books states that Krypton is destroyed.

Does MOS have anymore Magazine issues coming up? Or is that it?

Plus one of the toy boxes said it was destroyed, and Michael Shannon has been quoted as saying it's destroyed as well. They could all be lying, however, but that seems strange. It's not really something that lends itself to a movie "twist".

PS, WHEN ARE WE GETTING THIS DAMN TV SPOT?!?!?!??!?!?!

The whole glasses as a disguise is even worse, but most fans roll with it, otherwise you can't enjoy the character completely.

It's called suspension of disbelief. It was a very real and psychological term/thing like 200 years ago. Now it's just the term that people use to describe something like seeing a guy fly in a movie. You'll be fine. They aren't there to make a movie that makes you wonder why he flies. They're there to convince you he can fly, in spite of your logic.

Jor-El himself confirmed it:

ahem...as I was saying...my name is Jor El, of Krypton, as my planet dies I send 2 you my son, Kal. So he may live. He will arrive June 14

Plus the Man of Steel Junior Novelization shows Kal-El’s rocket being shot away from an exploding Krypton: http://comicbook.com/blog/2013/05/05/man-of-steel-rumor-control-krypton-survives-not-so-fast/

Eh, I'm not sure why but I have no problems with the glasses disguise even though it is ridiculous but I really don't like the Jorel conversation thing. It makes it too much like he's still alive.

Thanks guys

Any idea when Shannon said that or do you have the quote by any chance?

What TV spot? A new one?

It was an interview within the last month, I believe.

There was a TV spot with the NBA playoffs that had this quote from Jor-El:

"You've grown stronger here than I ever could have imagined. The only way to know how strong, is to Keep. Testing. Your. Limits!" - Jor El.

All I can say is - AWESOME!!! :-)

I agree, I was just giving an example, we can't expect everything to be 100% realistic. :word:

Thanks I found the Shannon quote

Oh wow sounds cool

That quotes got me thinking is that holo Jor El OR is Jor El still alive on Zods ship as a prisoner? Might explain why Lara appeared to be dying alone on Krypton if so

^ now i'm confused! What Shannen quote? I thought it was Russel Crowe's???

No, we certainly can't. And that's why we gotta let it go. I agree with you 100%. The mere insinuation that a pair of glasses would throw everyone off is an insult to human intelligence and frankly, a cheap cop out (because he doesn't wear a mask).

But that's why we do it. We love supes, so we let all that dumb sh** go :yay:

The Shannon quote was for something else.

I was talking about the Crowe quote from the new TV spot

Did I miss something? Was there a new TV Spot? If so, did it have new footage?

ggaaahhhh now I have to read Secret Origin... ::sighs::

It's a bit uneven and a bit too derivative at times, but ultimately it's a great read. Especially the two first volumes about his Smallville days.
