Anyone going to their LCS for FCBD? I'll definitely grab that Superman book (reprint of Last Son #1 if I'm not mistaken).

I've never read it myself. So I went ahead and just ordered it on Amazon. I will have it on Tuesday. Can't wait to read it!

Nice! I was going to do the same after having checked local book and comics stores without luck. Then, on Monday after my last exam, I found a packaged set of the original issues in the back of my local comics store. It was a very pleasant surprise.

You didn't enjoy seeing all the super secrets we didn't know about Spider-Man or Peter Parker like his ability to skateboard and be a *****e at the same time. :o
:lmao: All I'm going to say is that I'm glad that some people got a version they liked. I'm sticking with the originals (the first two).

Anyway I'm using the banner as a screensaver on my phone.

I just bought birthright the other day and read it all, simply amazing every bit as good as most of those classic Batman graphic novels. Love the representation of supes, love the representation of the twisted mind of lex luthor

My favorite origin story!
Now I feel like reading it again! :hrt:

I'm about halfway through reading Birthright for the first time and, wow, I am just shocked by how awesome it has been so far and also by how extensive its influence seems to be on Man of Steel. I know it seemed to be a big influence based on discussions here, but I never realized how extensive it would be. For instance, in addition to the big things regularly discussed around here, the dialogue between Clark and Pa Kent about him being the answer to the question of "Are we alone in the universe?" is in there (except with Ma Kent) as is the Kents' UFO sightings/aliens billboard. Pretty awesome.

it's really great, isn't it? tell us what you think when you finish it :D

I prefer the first two Raimi films as well.
I dont go over to the Spider Man boards because of the contempt they show Raimi there .

I read Birthright but I'm having trouble remembering. Is that the one with "soul vision"?

Batman and Superman get the same thing. Batman 89 has always had its detractors but they became much more vocal when Chris Nolan came along, and Superman: The Movie seemed to have a pretty good reputation until it was way overexposed in 2006 with Superman Returns, The Superman II Donner cut, and Smallville and the comics incorporating aspects of the Donner movies into continuity.

Yea, sucks goyer never ever mentions it.

Pa Kent's early insecurities about clark wanting to embrace his other life was really poignant.

I wouldn't call I SEE SPIDEY a dude lol...
Buddy, just let it go. Help the forum become a better place, state your opinion and if you get targeted be the bigger person and let it go, if your opinion has bases, then you have nothing to argue about, don't drag things out.

As the citizens of San Angeles in Demolition Man used to say: Be Well :)

but how the hell do you use the three seashells!!! :argh:

Lets face it, we are using this thread as a lounge thread of sorts.

I'm re-reading it too. For some reason, the only arc I can clearly remember is Secret Identity, and that's not even really Superman... At least the New 52 is clearer in my head, except when I start confusing it with Earth One ::sighs::

I didnt like Earth One.

awwwnnn. I did. I was very happy they continued it. I really want to see where they'll go with Lex and the whole "Superman problem" :wow:

But I can see why its tone might be jarring to some fans. He really is a different take on Clark, his past, and his attitude and views on life.

I actually read Birthright finally for the first time last night (haven't slept in over 24 hours straight :wow:) and it was a breathtaking read. I loved the idea of Clark/Superman being able to see through different spectrums, especially lifeforce, because to me that made Clark almost a better man than he already was before. The Kryptonian meaning for the symbol as "hope", Kobe Asuru educating Clark on honoring your forebears, it was a really, really well done story all around.

Birthright has been my favorite version of his origin from the moment I read it, I'm really glad that it thus far appears to be the story with the most influence on the film.

Yeah I love Superman Earth One but its not as good as Batman Year One which is one of my top 5 of all time. It was better than Batman Earth One though. I think I'd take a Birthright over Batman Year One though, but I'd take nothing over Kingdom Come.

chill, i was kidding. however i would put birthright over batman year one for real

Indeed; though I was never a fan of Earth One's Superman to begin with since that version of Superman came off as being the most reluctant in a Peter Parker-like style when it came to embracing his abilities to help people and we never once saw him actually "helping" someone with his powers before he placed the costume on.

I dunno, if that was the poster, people would still complain. I can guarantee you that.

Not as much as the people who complained for the current poster. I mean that was bad...beyond the need to complain for the sake of doing so.

That didn't bother me and if they were gonna do another Superman origin it was right to do something different. I do think Superman Earth One is like a bit like marmite. It's strange because I didn't like it when I first read it but have read it several times since then and it's definitely one of my favourite Superman origin stories. I actually think people will appreciate it more once there's like a full collection of Superman Earth One books out cause there's a lot if unanswered questions from the first book that I'm hoping he tackles in the third.

Dude I wasn't saying you we're wrong I just disagreed you're entitled to your own opinion. I would put Birthright above most things :woot:
