As much as I love S:TM, I'm not that stubborn to think that it's impossible for another superman film to be better. Then again that also opens up the possibility in my eyes that it could be worse than SR.

As for whether this can dethrone TDK. I think for me personally, as Superman is my favorite character, it will. I think as a superhero film it definitely will. I mean in terms of what a superhero film can be. I honestly think Snyder is going to aim for spectacle exceeding what we saw last year in Avengers. I'm ready for this to be my film.

That new banner is awesome.Suit looks so otherwordly which supports my old theory.

My theory is that is that it turns out the Alien nature of the Superman suit causes to be so mesmerising to humans that they cant recongnise the face behind the suit.Thats why no one ever recongnises superman and clark have the same face.Simple sweet

this is one of the best looking pics of him as superman. i know i will get yelled at for being nitpicky, but why is the backdrop of the s symbol silver?

That's easy. Its the color pallet.

The banner (and a lot of the promotional artwork) is duo chromatic, meaning it consists of only two hues. In this case, it is Red and Blue*. The cape, the S and his skin are all red hued. The suit, the background and the negative space on the S are blue. If they had put even a desaturated yellow there, it would look really awkward and throw off the whole piece.

So why make is blue and not a desaturated red? Contrast. The S stands out so strong because it is a really saturated red (warm color) against a desaturated blue (cool color). If you put a desaturated red there, the S itself wouldn't stand out as much.

*I'm assuming I don't have to explain why a Superman poster would be red, blue (and white). :-P

With what I'm seeing in the trailers and TV Spots, it just seems to be something quite special. It, to me, has an aura that seems to put it above the norm of CB films. BUT, that could just be great marketing lol. June can't come soon enough.

Naw. It cannot dislodge '78 Superman. That Superman was a product of its time and the kind of hype & excitement it generated before and long after the end of it theatrical run will be unmatched with a few exceptions like Star Wars/ESB/ROTJ. Also Superman '78 carried certain charms that most movie these day will not be able to replicate - see Christopher Reeve's.

MOS maycome close to TDK but I do not think that it will top the quality of TDK unless Michael Shannon & Antje Traue turned in bravo performances as Zod & Faora respectively much like Heath Ledger's Joker.

I see what you're saying. 78 Supes has that charm to it. Nothing has beaten it yet in my eyes. But that's not to say that nothing will. But one thing is for sure... I don't think I will ever think any less of it. EVER

And yes... Chris Reeve is a BIG reason for the love of that film. Even Donner thinks that the film may not have been as good without Reeve.

That wldnt fly in the realistic world though or plotwise-I mean how wld that fool smallville residents for instance?
No i think supermans disguise will be expalined as being some application of kryptonian tech or powers-else it will thrown out.
