Trust me simple is best. You won't even question it when it's done right. Clark Kent will just blend right into the Daily Planet cast. Cavill doesn't even need to overact it with the bumbling stupor.
The Clark Kent disguise really can work though. Trust me, you'll see. You've gotta kind've put your mind into the mindset of people living in this world. If you see someone who might even have a passing resemblance to Superman (and there are plenty of people that are doppelgangers for famous celebs) you aren't going to immediately think it's him. Especially if he is wearing glasses and seems to have a job and his own life.What youre suggesting isnt simple though-its just to pretend that the diguise cld work and ignore the plotholes.Which is fine for a non serious take with Superman but this isnt one.By setting in a realistic world they cant get away with it anymore.They cant just ignore the plotholes and I dont believ theyd do so.I believ theyd probbaly fix it.
I see no reason why explaining that No one recongnises Clark because of his alien suit is complex.Sure it wld be different but so what?If it can avoid the cringe-worthy disguise explantion we got in smallville tv show its more than what it.
I would also add that both Nolan and Raimi claim S:TM as an Inspiration For Batman Begins and Spider Man , I think even Favreau mentioned S:TM in regards to IM1.Oh it's definitely subjective and dependent on one's taste. I just think that Superman '78 falls into that genre of so called "classic". It is after all still showing almost every December - highly watchable family fare.

I have no worries about Shannon, it just depend on the materials that he has to work with. I wouldn't swap him for Ledger any day since Ledger made Joker as his unique take.

He doesnt have a passing resmblance.He looks just like him.And as long as they have the same face a natural disguise wont work.So no piont pretending it will-just present it as a supernatural disguise and everyone will accept it as part of the SUPER in Superman.
MOS being a masterpiece won't make S:TM any less great. If anything, it will PROVE how adaptable and meaningful Superman is across various generations and incarnations. It will signify that the character is bigger than any one franchise, and that Superman is capable of breaking new ground yet again. This isn't like Burton vs Nolan. This is like Bond vs Bond.
