She's entitled to whatever opinion she has, however the main point I take issue with; she subscribes to the idea (that many people and unfotunately WB share) that DC is at a loss somehow because they are failing to create a DCU universe. When their one property in Batman pretty much nearly matches your big worldbeating team up movie, and when your next mega franchise (in MoS) is potentially just as successful as the TDK trilogy...they could easily get to the point where they could rotate batman/superman films every 2 years and get a billion each time easily. That's how far ahead Batman/Superman are in terms of world popularity. There is no one that marvel has except Spider-man that has the same amount of international recognisation, so they don't even need the JL to "win".

I also hate how she thinks that there is a battle between marvel fans and dc fans and the winner are the ones with the highest grossing movies, surely if we were all part of that imaginary battle, gross would matter if i had a financial stake in it...which i don't. I would have thought actual film quality would be the important factor.

That's why i hate her reasoning, because it's exactly that line of thinking that will get WB to rush any potential JL films and other properties and we could have a terrible mess on our hands...and more importantly it could hurt what could be a perfect Superman Trilogy.

End Rant...so any new TV spots on the horizon?

Agreed on everything.
She's clueless.

Also agreed. I hate the constant Marvel vs DC battle some people stubbornly insist on. It makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Agreed.

I just look at all comicbook movies as comicbook movies to be honest. Some of them I like and some I don't.

I generally try to avoid negative reviews like that. I think most of us here will naturally pick up on any flaws the film might have without any outside assistance. Reading/watching negative (and even highly positive) reviews can take away from the moviegoing experience because our brains will have already formed an opinion about something we've yet to see. Even if you disagree with certain points covered in a bad review, a part of your mind will be affected by it in some way. It might even influence you to find fault with something you may have been perfectly fine with had you not been exposed to some silly hack's critique. The fresh approach, in my opinion, is usually the best way to go.

:up::up: Well said, awesome post.

It's not the negativity that bothers me, actually i welcome negative reviews (especially after I watch the film in question) it always adds perspective to your experience, and it always allows you to start up a dialog on the films merits or lack thereof.

It's just the constant need to draw lines in the sand that annoys me, I'm a child of the 80's it still amazes me that these films exist, It amazes me even more that some of them are actually good, let alone that enough are good to actually debate in arbitary terms of Marvel/DC :funny:

Folks, please keep the Iron Man 3 discussion to a minimum, and if you have a long extensive post about it, do it in the Iron Man 3 threads where it belongs. Use spoiler tags if discussing certain spoiler as aspects since not everyone has seen the film yet also.

Agreed.

Same.

I mean, I prefer the DCU and the JL, and Superman and Batman will always be my no.1 and no.2.

But I also love Spiderman. I enjoy a lot of X-Men stories. I've enjoyed most of what they've done with the The Avengers films so far, and I'll pretty much go and see any movie that is superhero/comic related.

And I don't go around putting down Marvel and worrying about DC 'winning'.

It's just so crazy. I've actually heard people say they haven't seen any of the new Batman films because they are a Marvel fan...

I mean, how does that make any sense?

So I'm a little bit miffed, I'm sat watching the football (Soccer) on Sky Sports and they showed a trailer for Pacific Rim during the ads, it's just Rim's not out until July yet Man of Steel is out in June. What the hell is with that?

It must the same reason that WB can't get a quality poster done. That last one could have been gorgeous. But the cape attachment is TOTALLY OFF (I'm surprised no ones really mentioned that.) and the shield has to have the gold put in it by fans. Wth?!

yeah me too...I had seen the crappy pics that some dude had taken by taking a picture of the book. So I bought the book last night on my phone and took screen grabs. Now all the pics I posted have been making the rounds and no credit is being given to me or the Hype for getting them first but instead all credit is given to CBM

That's really unfortunate they are that way. But I greatly appreciate you taking the time to do that! Were there any good pics from the superpowers book?

I’ve seen the movie. I’ve seen it, that’s one of the perks of getting to work at DC Comics is that we get to see these kinds of things. It’s an amazing re-imaging of Superman. There’s stuff in there that you’ve never seen in a Superman movie before. The special effects are incredible, but it’s got a lot of heart. It really brought me to tears actually, a couple of times in the movie and that doesn’t happen a lot.

Quote from Jim Lee. Sounding good guys!

Most of you who complain about the rivalry are just perpetuating the stereotype that it exists. :o

Can I just say that if Krypton looks like the artwork in the kids book then, well....:wow:

Especially considering that's the part of the film that WETA has stated they're handling. Just wow. Can't wait.

Exactly. I can't wait to get the tie-in book with all the concept art, even if they did delay it a week to avoid spoilers.

Did they? Kinda prefer that to be honest, my willpower will be none-existent when we're that close to release.

Awesome. I hope it effects me the same way, I want tears rolling down my face dammit!

Yeah, it went from being scheduled for June 14th and now pushed back to the 18th along with the novelization.

Yeah, it occurs to me that I'm gonna be weeping through this movie. It's like becoming a concern for me. No other movie, or character for that matter, could do this to me. I'm almost considering going and seeing it alone first for this reason. Less embarrassing.

To show emotions should never be embarrassing.
