Haha, the art book makes it clear that [BLACKOUT]both Jor-El and Lara perish on Krypton.[/BLACKOUT]

I think Zod makes some sort of threat or insult about snuffing out baby Kal's life because he is a common animal or something (having not been genetically designed) and Jor-El retorts that his infant son is already twice the man that Zod is.

If the Kryptonians on the scout ship were alive when it came to Earth, you have to wonder why they appear to be dead now - they would have had Kal-El's powers under our sun. I think they may have died before arriving here and the ship could have crash-landed.

In the prequel comics, Dev-Em killed all of the other scouts, except Kara, while they were still in space. He then diverted the ship to our Solar system. When Kara woke up, she confronts Dev-Em, and they battle on the ship while their powers develop under our sun. the ship crashes into Earth, and a figure walks away from the crash.

it's not clear who survived. however, it shows a local tribe who witnessed the crash. they make cave paintings of the ship crashing as well as the S symbol. that suggests they either explored the wreckage of the ship and saw Kara and/or the S symbol inside. or Kara was alive and interacted with the tribe in some way.
