Okay, so I found the page from the art book that should clear up the confusion.

It seems pretty clear to me: "Jor-El realized the importance of cutting ties [with Kal-El], even though the act required [BLACKOUT]him and his wife Lara to die[/BLACKOUT]."

Exactly. Did someone actually legit say it was a spoiler for the movie?

I find it somewhat stupid to label those that would be unhappy with the decision to keep Jor-El alive as comic book purists that can't accept liberties. There is a difference between taking good liberties and taking stupid unnecessary liberties that completely alter the core of the character. Superman's parents being dead is just as important to his character as Uncle Ben and the Waynes being dead is important to Spider-Man and Batman.

I'm noticing more and more people get labelled as purists whenever they have any reason to why they don't like a deviation even when it is justified. This false accusation is now almost entirely used when fans that like liberties taken can't back up their opinions with good arguments. Therefore, any fan that dislikes the liberties taken is labelled a purist for the labellers to have a reason to ignore what's being said. "Oh, you're a purist so I don't have to listen to you."

I think few pages back when someone posted the Jor-El lives, they were joking around.

Would anyone miss me if I was banned for the next few months?
Sometimes I have a deep contempt for your posts, sometimes you make me so freakin mad I could scream but there is this thing between us that I can't explain...

He said he doesnt
die on krypton. that doesnt mean that maybe he doesnt die on black zero trying to stop zod.

TDKR and Iron Man 3 have proven that no matter how good a movie can look, the impossible can still happen even if the film looks like it will be 100% perfect.

Heck, Iron Man 3 proved that it is possible to walk in theatres not even knowing who the main villain is.

I thought Rises was disappointing but not Iron Man 3, it was a million times better than the last one and I thought it was good.

hmm...interesting, does it mean that Jor-El will be the likely casualty of the Civil War? For going against General Zod's wishes? I mean after all, he does say "Jor-El: I won't betray you/Zod: You already have." Hence, he wouldn't be part of the people who died because of Krypton being exploded?

Plus he did just say that the S stands for hope...so maybe he was trying to be the symbol of hope to Krypton, what Kal-El is to Earth during the Metropolis Battle?

I thought Rises always looked underwhelming. None of the trailers, not even the much touted third and final (Nokia) trailers wowed me. Of course, i was in denial about how absolutely awesome the film would be then that I elected to put my emotions of disappointment deeply in my psych and acted like the footage was good.

"Jor-El: I won't betray you/Zod: You already have." Jor-El doesn't say this.

The quote (from the 4th trailer) is as follows:
Superman: I won't betray them.
Zod: You already have.

could be...

If the Jor-El rumor is true, as long as the story is good, what is the freaking problem? A minority of narrow-minded fans will always cry a river every time there's something they don't like, it happened with TDKR and STID despite both being good films.

And even if Jor-El
is alive for most of the movie, maybe he will die by the end of it.
Anyway, is not the end of the world if Goyer, Nolan and Snyder changed some aspects of the Superman mythology. In the comics, we have seen changes to the mythos through the decades, is part of keeping things fresh and relevant.

Change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future.

I saw things that bugged me in the trailers too. However, I thought the movie would've won me over on those things much like how the Joker facepaint did. Heck, I remember saying to myself that in the worst case scenario, it will be a great stand-alone film even f it's not a good sequel or Batman film. It really shocked me that it was made by Christopher Nolan.

But that's a different topic for a different thread.

I thought the trailers were great and I was really excited for the film after loving Inception and TDK. Not bad or anything but certainly not a good film in my estimation.

Oh ****, does this mean I'm going to I'm going to feel the same way about MOS?:csad:

The quote (from the 4th trailer) is as follows:

The voice is too deep to sound like Superman's, and it sounds more Russell Crowe tbh. It also sounds like he's saying "you" instead of "them." The only thing is why would Zod care about someone betraying another person not named General Zod.

I could be wrong though.

Scroll up and you will see a post where I address this exact argument (post #130).
