So what film do you think MoS needs to beat to be the best comic book film? :)

In my own lowly opinion for me MOS would have to beat TDK. In my opinion thats the best CBM to date.

It would need to beat The Dark Knight in the general public ... but at times I slightly prefer Batman Begins.

I'm not expecting this to be better than either of those, so if it somehow is for me, that's just great.

If it's just 'very good' as one person mentioned from collection of people ... I can live with that.

Regardless, it doesn't matter ... nothing can be done now ... bring on June 14th.

I'm highly biased in favour of Dark Knight, I don't think that perfect storm of casting and story will happen again in a long time with a comic book movie, but I'm not looking for it to be the best comic book film, that's highly subjective...I just want to walk in as casual a Superman fan as possible (which I am), and walk out a Superman fanboy. That's all anyone could ever hope to achieve in terms of audience reaction. That sort of feeling where you come out of the movie with an urge to tie a towel around you and thrust your arms forward as you pretend to fly...only to realise you are 27...not 7 anymore.

I was overjoyed with BB, although my friends and I got kind of drunk at a BBQ before we went to see it, not really knowing it was going to be serious and not campy like the previous 2 films, so I had to go back the next day to see it again, just to make sure.

TDK is my favorite CBM, and I hold it pretty high up there as one of my favorite any type of movies, so idk if MOS can top it, then again it'd be like comparing apples and oranges I think.

If MOS is along the lines of BB I will be more than ecstatic.

I dont think it will be better, but, I hope its just as good as spiderman II, TDK, watchmen, Iron man 1.
EDIT: and oh yeah, the Avengers in action.

 Yes! Exactly my feeling walking out of BB & TDK. Excellent post.

I go back and forth between BB and TDK... I like them both for different reasons. I could also throw TDKR in there too; some of the things they did there almost push it over the top for me.

But MOS doesn't really need to "beat" any of them to be great. It simply needs to be great.

My friend who has seen Man of Steel puts it join 2nd with Batman Begins on his all time list of top CBM's from the modern era. (The Dark Knight, Batman Begins/Man of Steel, The Dark Knight Rises, Iron Man, X-Men: First Class, The Avengers, Captain America, Thor, Superman Returns)

I don't think MOS will necessarily be the best comic book movie but I do think it will be the closest to perfection CBM we've gotten so far. It looks as if they managed to find the perfect blend between fantasy and realism, and in between each type of tone done in CBM's throughout history. It looks like they truly have created a universe where anything can happen, from crime dramas like TDK to things like Star Trek.

for me, Spider-Man 2 and TDK are the 2 best comic book movies.

so, MOS will have to top those, and I have a feeling it will.

of course, that could also be due to my bias towards Superman.

I can't take anyone serious that doesnt have howard the duck up there...:oldrazz:
But seriously, I do like that he liked it so much.

Damn this movie better rock because like always everyone has their hopes set extremely high!

A little TOO high if you ask me, It's one thing to be excited...another to set expectations to unattainable levels.

If it can make my top 4 or 5, I will be happy, very happy.

It needs to be the greatest thing since sliced bread or I won't be happy. :o

I have more emotions invested in this because I'm a Superman fan foremost!!

that's why I really, really, really, really, really, really, really want MOS to do good critically and BO-wise!!

I'm trying to keep my expectations at: "This will be a capable movie."

I learned my lesson with SR. Yeah I am extremely excited, but I have that little voice in my head constantly nagging me, telling me I'll be let down. It's a defense mechanism I have built in. :woot:

I honestly think we'll be good. The trailers are just too damn good for this to be just an ok film. Yeah, I know studios sometimes give you a different film than what you saw in the trailers, but I dont think thats the case this time.

I do think folks hoping for the best CB film ever *MAY be setting themselves up for a slight letdown. I'd love for it to be the best one ever tho. Its a tall order to ask it to beat spidey II, TdK, Iron Man.
