I seriously hope that tomorrow's viewings for our two members will help clear up some crazy rumors and speculations going around for the film.

Williams review in infact legit, I was DMd by 2 media guys and we discussed. Williams view is not what I see though and they as well. He sees Supes 1 as nostalgic and with 'charms' while MoS is straight to the point like BB and TDK cutting the 'charms' to get to the point. Williams views it in contrast to Supes 1. the other guys viewed it on its own and better than any Comicbook film bar TDK

Maybe he thought the 3 proceeding Superman films were just, you know........NOT VERY GOOD?

Can you even compare the original superman to anything that comes out in today's day and age? What are you comparing?

It is like comparing any of the Dark Knight Trilogy to the Adam West Batman movie in 66

The Adam West movie was far superior in every way.

Batman
Robin
Joker
Penguin
Catwoman
Riddler

All well done and fleshed out. My only complaint... Burt Ward is too old for the part.

Ugh ... 10 days left.

I need that leaked score NOW!!!

I REALLY roll my eyes over typical, standard, always-the-same lines being used for ALL films:

Robert Workman ‏@TheDCD 3m
So, the verdict on Man of Steel...flawed, but still the best Superman movie in like 30 years. That's saying something.

This really says nothing. Just your typical, never-will-be-avoided, non-saying Bull-**** statement that doesn't make for anything clever. ALL movies have flaws! People talk about The Dark Knight being perfect. It wasn't perfect. But it was just about as close as it could get, for what it wanted to represent. But it wasn't "perfect". Hence, it had flaws. If a movie was not flawed in any ways, that would mean perfection, and it just doesn't exist. So pack the above statement away. It's useless. Let's move on.

Besides. Stating that MOS is the best superman film in 30 years could also be rewritten in to this: "MOS is the best superman movie since the first Donner film"... I'm sorry, but that won't be good enough. It had better be way better in everything it sorts out to do, than that of Superman 1. And no! That is in no way too much to ask. Otherwise, they might as well pack up and quit. It's that simple. MOS not only has to be way better than S1. It also needs to be one of the absolute best of all superhero films! I will accept nothing less with MOS than what was brought to the screen with Batman Begins. It has to be at least on par with that one - and it should go beyond that as well. Yup. I said that ****.

I disagree. If any Batman film was as close to perfection for what a Batman film SHOULD represent, it Batman Begins, followed VERY closely by the 1989 film.

TDK is a great film but, besides The Joker and Two-Face, it is a ****** Batman adaptation.

I have it'll leak sometime tomorrow. I mean, tomorrow is the 4th and it'll be 10 more days until the film is released. Or maybe it's me wanting for it to be like the timeline for TDKR score to release haha.

:up::up::up:

I hope this makes sense. I think it's inevitable to get some folks (most likely in my generation and younger I'm 27) that like the Donner films but never saw them in the theater, so we don't have the much of a connection to them as say some older folks who remember seeing them as kids or adults in the theater. I think it's harder for the later to let that experience go, and since we never had that experience when we were kids, we are even more ready to finally experience it. So when someone says it's an 8/10 and the best superman movie in 30 years, or say it doesn't have the the charm that S:TM, I don't mind so much. I mean yeah, I grew up with Reeve as my Superman, but he's not really my superman, he's my parents superman. IDK I could be wrong.

I'll hold you to that. :cwink:

That's just bull-****. It hurts just reading that!:csad: Superman 2! W_T_F! MOS needs to be at least as good as batman begins, and TONS better in every area than that of Superman 1! Anything less will be a ****ing failure! Comparing it to Supes-2 frightens me. And that should frighten Us all.

He is not really comparing SM II to MOS rather he is just trying to say that this is the first time since 1981 that fans will not be disappointed by a Superman film. I don't know how old you are, but I'm 40 :wow: so I remember the magical joy of seeing SM: The Movie and SM II on the big screen when I was 5 and 8. Believe me SM II was a well received film at the time. I know revisionist history has not been kind to it, but I distinctly remember how popular it was with kids and adults alike. I also remember the bitter disappointment of seeing SM III, SM IV, and SR. So the wait for another great Superman film has been a long time coming. All this Workman guy is saying is that after years of disappointments we are finally getting a Superman film we can enjoy again. :woot:

You're not wrong ... the VAST majority of people who see this film have no connection to Chris Reeve Superman, sadly he's just a name at this point for them ... so if Henry Cavill owns the role, he'll be Superman to this generation ... and 30 years from now when they do another series, people will be like ... so and so won't be 'Henry Cavill'. It's just how it works. Nostalgia is a POWERFUL thing. We all are guilty of falling into that trap in every aspect of life.

Of course, we're also all victim of the 'everything happening now is the greatest ever' haha

This is exactly what I was trying to get at in my previous post. I'm 27I'm still waiting for that experience.

Funny how not everyone felt that way in 1989.

So true. I remember going to see it when I was in highschool. After coming out of the theatre, I remember feeling so deflated haha. On the bus trip home which was packed with people that had just left the cinema, I vividly remember people saying how much they thought it sucked. I was so depressed lol.
I think nostalgia plays a big part in why people think Batman 89 is so great, and most likely Superman TM and Superman 2, though I'm still a fan of those films, cellophane S shield and all lol

I hope they explain why Kryptonians look like humans and speak English....

I think the best news to take from these early reactions is we haven't heard one "meh".

It is like comparing any of the Dark Knight Trilogy to the Adam West Batman movie in 66

Comparing how each medium told the origin story of the characters, moreover you could compare the tone and direction that they took.

Batman: Mask of the Phantasm disagrees with you.

MOTP is as close to definitive as they come, a solid origin, good action, a sense of fantasy that manages to AVOID overpowering the crime drama structure. And a fleshed out fantasy and strong female character.

I think that if it were longer and bigger budget it would probably be more captivating than TDK.

Because if they looked like the Predator and spoke Klingon I don't think many would flock to see it.

Hopefully (as long as the timeline is like TDKR) we'll get the soundtrack today. Also for me TDK is everything a Batman film should be, the Nolan's took aspects from various comics and adapted it to their vision. Far far better than pandering to the fans with multiple big Batman moments.
