MU is Pixar besides. Anything Pixar is a knockout punch at the box office. They could make a movie about spit and it would still bring in the cash flow. I'm saying this as a big TS fan.

Coming this summer! Lovable Morty the SpitWad. When he comes out of your mouth, THE ADVENTURE REALLY BEGINS!

Featuring the voice talents of Morgan Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch!

When it comes to MOS's second weekend, I'll only say this, nothing is impossible. MOS could open close at the current projections (say 120) and have only a 40-45% drop (say it does 70) while MU could slightly underperform based on projections (say it does 65) leaving MOS in a close victory. Of course it is an unlikely scenario (most probably is MU between 70-80 and MOS at about 50-60) but I wont act like it's not and couldn't happen either. TASM did way more than I (and most others) expected and I never in a million years would predict that TA and Skyfall would make as much as they did.

That smiley is fantastic.

Common sense.

Welp, that just rationalizes everything. :o

Pixar seems to have lost a bit of their magic as of late. I think made clear by their sequelitis at the moment. First Cars 2, now Monsters University, then Finding Dory. Damnit, if they're just gonna cash-in their previous successes at least do Incredibles 2!!

Assuming MoS reviews well, yes word of mouth is what is going to get the people who weren't convinced or who wait until rental to see it in theaters. When they hold reviews that's a good sign it's pretty decent.

World War Z reviews are already up and it's getting beat up, and it comes out a week after Man of Steel.

The "World War Z" reviews at RT show us the actual problem with RT reviews. A movie can be bad, but as long as the review is leaning positive, it will have a positive tomatometer.

Here are 2 blurbs from the WWZ reviews on RT:

More an action blockbuster than a horror squelcher, it contains spectacular crowd scenes that have a Hieronymus Bosch quality, but the film lacks strong meat - of the emotional and bloody zombie-cannibal sort.

World War Z is just not quite creative or original enough.

And these are both Positive reviews.

Morgan freeman's character is the grumpy grandpa spitwad with a heart of gold.

Random quotes from Grandpa Spitwad

"I'm gettin' too old for this spit!"

"You know, Morty... you're a spitting image of your father."

:funny: @ DorneyDave

Morgan Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch, PERFECT CASTING!

Careful someone from Pixar may be browsing this thread. Think of MOS 2. We don't need SpitWad to topple it. I could just see the headlines now, "Spitwad devours Superman and spits him out."

MOS 2 is going to devour everything in it's path that isn't called Star Wars or The Avengers (or Avatar :p) :word:

edit: come to think of it, I might reconsider on The Avengers part in a week.

I think Toy Story 3 was the only legitimate sequel besides Toy Story 2 from Pixar. Cars 2 was pathetic. I expect Monsters University and Finding Dory to be the same. No point in having a sequel unless there is a real story to tell. Pixar used to understand that, but now they just do as Disney wants.

Really? This thread has devolved into saliva puns? Where do you guys come up with this spit?

There will be a lovable sidekick named Louie the Loogie.

Pixar, I expect our checks in the mail today.

That just gave me an idea to pitch to Pixar.

An average man named Steve (Fred Willard) is duped into swallowing a poison pill named Toxus (John Ratzenburger). As the evil pill, which has big white eyes and a mouth, works its way through Steve's digestive tract, it's up to two unlikely heroes to save him: a wisecracking wad of saliva named Drooly (Ellen Degeneres) and a dumb-as-a-rock-but-goodhearted ball of phlegm named Mucus (Larry the Cable Guy).

This summer... SPIT HAPPENS.

That sounds similar to our Pixar spit idea. Yours would be Dreamworks. :o

Damn, someone beat me to it with the Pixar spit movie, lol. You guys are too quick.

Yes to all of that, I agree. Haven't been "feelin'" PIXAR for a while now, I've liked more from Dreamworks of late.

I've read some heavy spoilers.

There will be some interesting discussions after people watch this film.

^ Disney releases SUBS, about a young submarine who just wants to fit in, and must stop war from happening. Pixar makes Bug's Life 2, about Abba's reign of tyranny after he mind gets altered by drugs. Actually, I'd watch the second flick ;)
