You and I pretty much agree. Did not like SM-The Movie or SM2. Even as a kid I found them to be very boring. But that's not saying others don't love them. If a critic hates MOS oh well doesn't mean I will hate it.

Wow. One of the very few people I've seen that disliked SM2.
As a kid, I loved all those movies growing up, and 10-11 yrs later I realized I only liked the first one, or parts of the first one.

And of course MOS will have haters once its out, and even the possibility of myself recognizing a few flaws, but I'll probably enjoy it overall.


Edit: I totally realized you're talking about Superman. Not Spider-Man 1 and 2. SM and SM2.....haha my bad.

What do you guys think of MOS Smallville/various scenes being told in flashbacks? I kind of hoped the story would be told in the order of infancy to becoming an adult and eventually Superman.

That is the scene where Jor-El has just told them that Krypton's core is going to collapse within days. They basically say if that is Krypton's fate then so be it. In Jor-El's head this confirms his need to send Kal-El away to Earth, free of Krypton's flaws.

Zod is obviously listening in and agrees with Jor-El. Which is why he decides he needs to take command of the running of Krypton to save his race.

The prevailing wisdom from both critics and audiences was Superman II was a better film than Superman when it opened in 1980 (overseas) and 1981 (in the US).

Also the little matter of him being entitled to his views without ridicule.

This is so true! t: I so vividly remember when SM II came out in 1981 and how everyone I talked to loved it and thought it superior to the first one. I was an 8 year old child, but I had a large circle of people of all ages who I would get opinions from. SM II was a very popular film and a big event when it came out. It was always a topic of conversation for a long time and I even remember feeling alone in my opinion that SM: The Movie was better. I loved both films (still do), but I slightly preferred the sentimentality of the first. When I got a little older I would read critic reviews of SM II and most agreed that SM II was a better ride than SM: The Movie. So this idea that SM II was always considered crap is not really based on the facts.
