How did the crowd feel about Terrance Stamp's Zod?

Everyone seemed to think he was a total badass. And they cheered when Kal threw him into the Times Square sign, used his heat vision via the mirror to momentarily toast him, crush his hand, etc. You get the idea!

I know I thought Terence Stamp was incredible as Zod. It amazes me that, if Donner would have finished the film, he would have been an even more despicable character.

^ Critics are human too, with nostalgia biases. There's never been a full reboot before, so some people might take the changes in tone better than others. Besides I'm sure the old Transformers tainted your vision of.. OKAY, bad example :D

Everyone needs to calm down a bit. Making generalizations on both sides is quite frankly ridiculous. Condemning reviewers for their opinions is silly and so is generalizing all posters as this hive mind lynch mob.

I recommend everyone to have their wits about them and conduct themselves civilly. That goes for everyone!

I love that people are apparently so insecure over this movie and how people respond to it, that once AGAIN old Superman movies are being nitpicked.

Dude has every right to love SII more than MOS, just much as most of you have the right to decide that MOS will be the greatest thing ever without having watched it, as abused as that right has become.

It's a common theme when new films come out. The same happened with the Burton films.

However, I will say that S:TM and SII are both very, very dated. And I know I never really liked them growing up. I thought they were a bit campy and a bit boring. They're very stylized and I'm just not a huge fan of that style, which is why I think I always had issues with the Raimi Spider-man films.

So on that token, I'm not surprised to see people criticize them. I've honestly never understood the love for them. If I were ranking top comic films, neither of the Superman films would be in my top ten.

People need to get some humor in their lives, jokes about the beard are perfectly fine with me.

...have you ever eaten with one?

That's a good rule of thumb. Though I KNEW IM3 wouldn't be as good as the 93 percent fresh it had early on. That movie was reviewed for ages before it came out. Why doesn't WB just lift the embargo?

Remember when BB came out and people said
Batman 89 was still the best ? They still do

Because it's just what they do ... it's the same as it was with TDKR.

Um, Justice League if it gets made, will have Henry Cavill. They're not going to have 2 actors playing Superman at the same time.

just repeating what Snyder said in a video interview...

...never say never...

These posts make me wish I was around when SII came out.

I cant wait to see my crowd reactions..I wanna see folks cheer and shout at the screen.
I also saw S:II in the theater..it was a very good time.

I would love to see Robocop on the big screen.

Anyway so the early reviews are positive, I guess that matters to some a lot (too much) so yay?

Jokes about the beard are great, but when someone seriously considers it a problem with the film, that's a bit odd to say the least.

One thing we ought to bear in mind is that critics tend to much tougher on movies than the average theater-goer. So if critics think MOS is good, the audience is probably going to think it's great.

Get them to say why. That's usually where they come unstuck.
Some people just refuse to have their opinions disputed and they take offence, like it's a personal attack on them as individuals. lol

No it's not because that is their opinion.

Things that don't bother you might bother someone else. That ending monologue by Gordon in TDK bothered me, I thought it was cheesy and kind of dumb but most seemed to love it.

Nah, be happy you're young! But it was fun seeing SII(and RAIDERS and ESB etc.) in the movies when they were released. But we had the big disappointments too. I can't even begin to tell you how how dejected people were when SUPERMAN III was released.

^ To be fair, that was Lester's doing. But Donner had the turning back the world ending-twice ;)
It's crazy to look back and think of everything that went wrong behind the scenes. Never knew about all of that until a few years ago.
Eh...you had to be there I guess. I saw SUPERMAN II opening night in '81(yeah, I'm old), and the crowd went wild when Superman threw the cellophane S. In fact, the crowd went wild every time Superman did anything to hurt the villains, and went ape **** when he went back to the diner and took out the bully. SUPERMAN II was one of the biggest crowd pleasing movies I've ever seen in a theater(and I saw it five times that summer, all with the same audience reaction). It still remains one of my favorite movie going experiences.
If I like MOS even half as much, I'll be happy. :)
I love going the movies when they first come out just for reactions like that. So I get how you feel. That being said, what was the point of it? It disappeared within seconds. I saw it as a kid (way after theatrical release. '90 maybe?) and didn't think anything of of it, but later I was all :hehe:. WTF?

I think I'm gonna check out of this thread until after the movie comes out

In line getting chic-fil-a for cosmic and I. About to meet this doot :wow:

I'm thinking about trying to do the same. The Captain America thread seems like a good option for me...if I can pull myself away from you guys.

Having a problem with what you perceive as cheesy dialogue isn't the same thing as having a problem with the notion that an alien with powers and highly advanced technology could find a way to erm.. shave his face. To me, if something that trivial bothers you, why are you watching a superhero film in the first place. It's a fantasy. My thoughts.
