So its the worst film of the year? Behind Movie 43? Behind Grown Ups 2? If it misfired on 'all cylinders' as you say, why is it at a 56% RT score, and a 7.7 IMDB score? Obviously many people, including fans and critics, saw that it did some things right.

You will be hard pressed to find a rotten tomatoes review that completely bashes it. Even the biggest troll of all the critics, Rex Reed, gave the film 2/4 stars.

Its polarizing because its different. Simple as that. You either accept the first real new take on the big Screen Superman in 35 years, or you dont. Exaggerating the films flaws doesnt count. People love to exaggerate the flaws of Man of Steel because it wasnt what they expected or wanted.

Not to mention an 8.0 audience score on Metacritic. But I'm sure those blinded by their hate of this movie will just ignore that.

I think we need to accept that the current debate is not going to be resolved with reason. Like Tobias in the BO thread, it's best to ignore, report, and/or move on.

It's a shame to me that something as simple as a movie can cause someone to be fired up enough to try to hurt others who enjoy the film, but if we take it for what it really is, senseless ramblings, and continue being happy with our own opinion, we'll be fine.

Superman and the Mole Men had more creative action then MOS :p

Sigh.

So when is the 75th anniversary panel?

Grant Morrison and Henry Cavill at the same table. Drool.

I stupidly have my hopes up for an announcement for another DC live-action movie this week. It probably won't be the case, so that panel had better at least get me a MoS2 announcement!

So is MoS2 actually confirmed or is it in the same 'we may do it' boat that SR got when it hit theaters?

Hopefully Grant slips him a copy of All-Star Superman. It kinda bums me out when Henry says his main source material was a Mark Millar comic and what is arguably one of the trashiest runs in Supes' history (Death of...).

No confirmation that I've heard of. Goyer has been said to have signed on for more projects, but no "official" confirmation. It's closer than a SR sequel was at this time in my opinion.

I read that the young red-head girl from Castle will be at the 75th panel. Like seriously? She is not worthy.

I'll just say this, it's much more likely we are getting a sequel to MOS than back in 2007 when Returns sequel talk was being thrown around.

MOS is in a much better position than Superman Returns.

They announced the release dates to ASM for the next decade. Just give us a release date for the next MOS film and I'll be happy.

I just don't want to get my hopes up after what happened last time :csad:
I was one of the few actually looking forward to what Singer would do with the second film.

I really don't think they're in a position not to give us a sequel.

It didn't make a bajillion dollars in the first hour like they expected is enough reason to not want to try again for any fickle investor.

Pretty much this. Their big money-makers (Harry Potter and TDK) are finished. MOS proved it's profitable. They really don't have much choice.

I think you would lose even more money and damage the future of DC films by putting a sequel indefinitely on hold.

Plus after The two hobbit films what potential franchise does Warner have until they reboot Batman again ?
Mos will end up making 700 million or close to and they will also gain profitability in DVD sales.
And people saying a sequel won't happen because of the mixed critical reception, just look at the transformers series.
If a film makes a profit and the general public likes a film, whether critics do or not, that film will most likely get a sequel.

They could just toss him into the JL movie they so desperately want to do. Though I personally don't want Cavil's Superman to be in the JL movie but I know what I want won't happen.

Maybe they reworked the overall budget for a sequel. Instead of increasing it, maybe they keep it the same. Maybe they're able to renegotiate better financial deals with the producers so that the sequel is more cost effective.

Will the sequel be with Dune Entertainment and Syncopy I wonder.

My money's on Syncopy just because of Nolan's previous involvement. I only expect to see him as an executive producer (which means he introduced the people doing the heavy lifting), but WB would get to use his name again.

If I were Dune, I'd kill to get involved though because of the potential follow-up projects for other properties.

Y'know I do still wonder if Zod was too much for this film.

Consider this. What if in MOS we just had Superman coming out and dealing with the military and public perception, making it much more tonally consistent with the first half of what we got. They could have used a lot more 'less is more' philosophy with his powers using more practical effects like what Nolan had built with Inception. Making it really keep with the realistic tone. But we still got the lengthy Krypton opening establishing Zod. And then as an after-credits sequence we saw Zod's Phantom Zone satellite smash into debris. Imagine how psyched we'd all be for Zod in the sequel at that point. I realize this makes it literally follow S:TM and SII, but obviously this would be the 21st century update. I dunno. Something to think about.

I'm one of the people that really dug the movie, but I can see where some may say that they tried to force too much in. There were a lot of expectations that Goyer/Snyder felt that they needed to meet. They needed the krypton origin, they needed a physical threat (SR critiques), they needed to show Clark growing up, etc.

I do feel like they could have released MoS as a two-part movie, because it kind of seems like it. Part Two would pickup when Zod gets to Earth.
