LAWL.

Yeah I remember the Chuck thing. But didn't he himself say that he wasn't right for it anyway? :oldrazz:
If I remember right it was more Superman wasn't right for him. I think he gave the same ol' "Where's the drama in it?" chestnut.

Levi is a better fit for Plastic Man than Superman.

I thought Clint's first evil act was making The Bridges of MadisonCounty?

No, it was singing a duet with merle haggard for the theme song to bronco billy.

Don't forget about Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. That movie made me want to cave my head in with a mallet.

I think it's funny that on this forum it is not done to speak any bad about Cavill and Snyder, but on the homepage from the SHH site is an articla about Cavill talking the movie and in the reactions on that article i hear lots of doubts about Cavill and Snyder.

Soooo, apparently i'm not alone with my idea that this movie can blow in our faces.

I just stopped watching SR on dvd and frankly i see nothing what's wrong with that movie.

The people who post on the SHH homepage articles are almost as bad as the infamous idiot troll talkbackers on AICN IMO. :whatever:

That kind of comments section attracts stupidity. It's perfect for the "I have an ill-informed knee-jerk reaction opinion and I need to get it out in the most angry, poorly considered way possible" crowd.

That goes for most "public" comment sections. Let it be Youtube, IMDB, SHH, AICN, ____ etc

Its a cesspool is what it is.

Wow....there have not been any fake Superman rumors in the last couple of days, what could be happening?

Does anyone know if it would be realistically possible for MOS's release date to be moved to a earlier time given that Snyder made comments about the release date not having been locked while others have stated that due to the legal issues that MOS would HAVE to come out before 2013?

The film has to be released before 2013 before rights to Superman revert to the heirs. The only way the date could be moved is forward. Christmas 2012 was put as the tentative release date as that is the latest it could come and tbh I would expect it no earlier than that.

Um, ok as someone who is not ingrained with the Superman culture, what is the problem with the rights to Superman reverting to "the heirs" and why don't they have the rights now?

instead of constantly using green kryptonite, they should get into red, black, blue, gold, purple, various kinds of kryptonite with different effects.. see the smallville show for reference..

have some women in the film besides only lois-- Lana Lang, Cat Grant, Lori Lemaris, Chloe Sullivan, etc. I don't want to see a rehash of the first two films romantic tension, and I don't want to see the "Returns" conceit of giving Superman a love-child..

..no more Lex real-estate terrorism plots!

Darkseid, Metallo, Mongul, Toyman, more diverse villains are needed..

It's quite long and complicated, but Variety explains some of it here. Also, Snyder said that legal issues didn't affect the story of his movie, though it did make WB have to release a Superman movie before 2013.

Superman co-creator's family given rights

Siegels now control character's Krypton origins

By MARC GRASER

Posted: Thurs., Aug. 13, 2009, 4:34pm PT

Warner Bros. and DC Comics have lost a little more control over the Man of Steel.

In an ongoing Federal court battle over Superman, Judge Stephen Larson ruled Wednesday that the family of the superhero's co-creator, Jerry Siegel, has "successfully recaptured" rights to additional works, including the first two weeks of the daily Superman newspaper comic-strips, as well as portions of early Action Comics and Superman comic-books.

The ruling is based on the court's finding that these were not "works-made-for-hire" under the Copyright Act.

This means the Siegels -- repped by Marc Toberoff of Toberoff & Associates -- now control depictions of Superman's origins from the planet Krypton, his parents Jor-El and Lora, Superman as the infant Kal-El, the launching of the infant Superman into space by his parents as Krypton explodes and his landing on Earth in a fiery crash.

The first Superman story was published in 1938 in Action Comics No. 1. For $130, Jerry Siegel and co-creator Joel Shuster signed a release in favor of DC's predecessor, Detective Comics, and a 1974 court decision ruled they signed away their copyrights forever.

In 2008, the same court order ruled on summary judgment that the Siegels had successfully recaptured (as of 1999) Siegel's copyright in Action Comics No. 1, giving them rights to the Superman character, including his costume, his alter-ego as reporter Clark Kent, the feisty reporter Lois Lane, their jobs at the Daily Planet newspaper working for a gruff editor, and the love triangle among Clark/Superman and Lois.

While ownership of the Man of Steel is one point of all this legal activity, the real issue is money and how much Warner Bros. and DC owe the Siegels from profits they collected from Superman since 1999, when the heirs' recapture of Siegel's copyright became effective.

DC owns other elements like Superman's ability to fly, the term kryptonite, the Lex Luthor and Jimmy Olsen characters, Superman's powers and expanded origins.

In a statement, Warner Bros. and DC said, "Warner and DC Comics are pleased that the court has affirmed that the vast majority of key elements associated with the Superman character that were developed after Action Comics No. 1 are not part of the copyrights that the plaintiffs have recaptured and therefore remain solely owned by DC Comics."

The Shuster estate originally did not participate with the Siegels' case because Shuster has no spouse or children. But his estate later won a ruling of a recapture identical to the Siegels, which will be effective in 2013. At that point, the Siegels and Shusters will own the entire copyright to Action Comics No. 1. That will give them the chance to set up Superman pics, TV shows and other projects at another studio.

If they want to get a new "Superman" or even "Justice League" pic featuring the superhero, Warner Bros. and DC will be forced to go into production by 2011.

btw here is a video of the early days of Siegel and Shuster and Superman:

So since the official press release said the films title is "Man of Steel" whens the forum name gonna change?

ugh, I was hoping Zod would be nowhere near this. Why are Superman movies always so damn repetitive?

Repetitive? Out of all the five Superman films, not including this one, he's only been in one Superman film. One!!!

As long as they keep him as different as possible from Superman II Zod, and do a really good job with his character, I don't mind one bit if he's in this movie.

Two.

Okay, you got me there.

To be fair, though, he wasn't even really a main villain in the first film, and his total screen time in that film only amounted to about 1-2 minutes, so that doesn't necessarily count.

Let see how repetitive this movie will be after watch it in the theaters. I have a feeling that people will be surprised about how different those characters will be portrayed on the story.
