LOL

Part of me still wishes that movie had been made just to see what a bizarre spectacle it would have been. It would have become Burton's Plan 9 From Outer Space.

It would have been one giant gothic trainwreck lol.

Assuming that they're going down the "Birthright" route for this film's plot, I really hope to see this version of Clark/Superman 'earn' the public's trust and admiration for him by throughout the film, climaxing in them finally accepting him as one of their own when they realize that he really is a hero at the end of the film.

One of the problems that I had with both STM and SR was that Superman was accepted too quickly by the public. There should have been some doubt and mistrust played in him and it makes a scene where we see people clapping for him that much more powerful when you've seen as to how much Superman has gone through in order to earn that from them.

I don't see it as a problem, because people running away in terror screaming at the sight of Superman catching Lois and the helicopter would have ruined the scene.

It's not that I want them to run away at first seeing Superman.

I just don't think that it'd be entirely realistic for everyone to be so accepting of him when he's first introduced.

There could be those who appreciate him right off the bat, while others who are hesitant to downright mistrustful of him.

When it's revealed that he's an alien, then that'll further feed the paranoia of the populace against him.

But when all is said and done, I want everyone to be clapping for Superman and such.

And there'd also be those on some forum somewhere or on youtube vids of him like "ROFL RED PANTIES SO GHEY"
Whether we like it or not lol

I kinda think the publics reaction to Superman would be similar to what we saw in the film contact.
You would have all kinds of kooks forming new religions based around him. Others would have their set beliefs challenged, and the political, business and military world would try their best to use him for their advantage.

I think there would be fear, but an acceptance because he does good things with his abilities.

Probably, but imho, it would be realistic for the public to be divided when it came towards their perception of him at the start of his debut.

The public's trust is something that he should have to work for in the film.

Yea the entire public wouldn't accept him initially.
And like another poster said, religious fanatics would claim him to be their god.
Or even a demon in disguise.

I don't think the entire public will ever accept him completely and the governments never will, accepting at best a tenuous acceptance of his assistance; no matter how "good" Superman can demonstrate his intentions are, he would always be a high level security threat in whatever nation he resides.
That would be realistic. This idea that Superman would initially be seen as a threat and then suddenly accepted after proving his intentions, is unrealistic.
Sure, most people will eventually cheer for him but no government power can, unless they are being totally irresponsible.

and i find it to be an interesting theory on how kryptonians could be introduced to the story.I thought it was a Great approach.Heres a snippet from it.

With that said, how better to tie the character of Superman to our present than by relating our unexplained history on Earth to the history of Krypton? What if a group of ancient Kryptonians found a way to come to Earth and act as Gods among mortals (see egyptian God of Sun “Ra” for example or the various Gods based upon the Sun which would power these Kryptonian deities)? This scenario could easily be weaved into a story about how the prideful majority of Krypton frowned against this practice of ruling over a primitive Earth and eventually punished these Kryptonians who pretended to be Gods for sharing tidbits of technology and culture with the likes of earthlings. That could be an explanation to why all of a sudden these “Gods” disappeared from Earth leaving nothing of their presence other than colorful hieroglyphics and amazing temples (example Egyptian and Mayan ruins).

This could also tie into a “Birthright” story line where Clark is travelling the globe, almost like an Indiana Jones of sorts unlocking his Kryptonian past through remnants left behind around the world reporting as a travelling journalist on these wondrous sites. This could also explain why Kal-el’s parents knew to send him to Earth and why Zod eventually shows up, knowing that he could rule as a God following in the footsteps of those earlier Kryptonians before him (which he could be a descendant of perhaps?) What if Clark was content with not being a public figure until Zod shows himself first, claiming to be a returning deity who will rule the world picking up where the ancient Gods left off. At first they are unaware of eachother, but Zod could fill Kal-el in on his heritage as he tries to convince him to rule along side of him. Clark could then realize Zods true intentions to be Earth's dictator. This could be the motivation for Clark to rise up and take up the mantle of Superman.

Reminds me of Smallville.

I think if there's a sex scene with Lois, Supes should peek out from under a blanket, grab a condom out of a drawer then wink at the camera.
lol

Sounds interesting, and it could work if done right, but seems like it came from the new Thor movie.

ugh, no.

I'm sure the movie will be Birthright but with the fake Kryptonian invasion replaced with Zod declaring war ala Last Son.

I think it would be great to see a fortress similar to the Fortress seen in Superman: TAS.

As long as it looks cool and isn't the crystal fortress, then I'm happy.

I liked the Fortress in all star superman. The key was especially cool.

That'd be awesome, I like that one especially simply cause basically its a cave rather than something hes built.

do you guys think it's possible to create a good superman game that's true to his powers? I can't see how you can fit his power sit to a control scheme without seriously de-powering him.

Superman 64 was the greatest game ever, right Clint?

Yes.

I think it's okay if they de-power him a bit. I just don't want them to fall into the old pattern of making up new powers as they go along. Rebuilding-Great-Wall-of-China Vision... (shudder)
