We mustn't be afraid to dream a little bigger darling. But I don't dare imagine it. It would be amazing. Gardner has so much potential.

Seth Rogan...no just no. I (sometimes) like him but he would be a horrible Gardner.

You had MaCduffie and some other writers doing their damnedest to try and rehabilitate the Timmverse Superman though in the JLU episodes, and they succeeded quite a bit in my eyes.

I still maintain that Hereafter is one of the greatest Superman stories ever written.

Part John Carter, part Silver Age Superman, part Planet of the Apes.

My favorite JL Episode by far.

Post GL: REBIRTH, my go to actor for Guy has been Gerard Butler. Guy has to be a badass to leaven his *****ey nature some. I used to dislike home lots but the last 10-15 years has made me like him.

On RT, 95% of critics liked it while 87% of the audience liked it. It's also got a 9 rating on IMDB. It's gotten good reviews but I haven't seen it yet to judge it for myself.

How good, is the pilot of Gotham?

The visuals are the best thing about it. But there are also several good performances from some of the actors, as well as stories which inter-cut with each other which show promise.

Once again TDKR is referenced in relation to this movie.I know Snyder said the movie wont be based on TDKR but I have a small,,small doubt

Too bad I never watched it.I just gave up on the animated series when I saw the Worlds finest movie.
Dear God was that a slap to Superman

What makes it my favorite version of Superman? That's an easy question to answer. Its because its the longest version of the movie which exists to the public. Its a very different viewing experience to any other version of the movie.
Fair enough.

I don't know about you but for me I always considered the original theatrical release that I saw in all its freshness and unvarnished experience as being the best version. The original sound mix was missing in the majority of home video releases. The 2006 DVD version contained Michael Thau's fx of sound effects which while good, but not as effective as the original IMO.

I'm sure that you're aware that there was another cut called the KCOP cut, based on the KCOP station in LA that aired it in the early '90s. One scene included Superman's return to the Fortress to speak to Jor-El after his first night heroic and Otis feeding the babies. These eventually came out in the 2001 special edition DVD.

KCOP cut was longer, including alonger Krypton sequence, the young Lois Lane in Smallville, longer post-reveal flight sequence, longer Air Force 1 sequence, after Superman fixed the dam, there was a sequence where he watches Indians on a reservation celebrate the water they're receiving, and telling Jimmy to snap photos of the dam. Remember the scene of Lois in car interviewing an Indian chief (real life Chief Tug Smith)? Oh well, he was reduced to bit part like Bo Rucker (the pimp).:hehe:

To summarised the known versions of Superman (1978):
The Theatrical version with original sound
The Salkind International Cut
The KCOP cut
The 2001 special edition.

So back to BvS, you and I are going to look forward to see it, that I have no doubt about it despite your pessimism!:cwink:

You should make the effort. while I have issues with most of JUSTICE LEAGUE's run HEREAFTER is a good Superman story and the TWILIGHT two parter (New Gods and Apokalips episode with great Darkseid vs Superman moments that make up for STAS), THE JUSTICE LORDS two parter (fascist, but good intentioned alternate Universe JL crosses over to JL's world and the ramifications are felt all through the rest of the series and especially JLU) and the STARCROSSED 3 parter (Thanagar invades Earth) were very good. Then when JUSTICE LEAGUE UNLIMITED starts, whoa nelly... It's a whole new ball game with better writing, better animation and better handling of Superman. Not only that but the level of voice talent is also pretty damned good. The next season is shorter but just as good. You really should check it out or at least look up some YouTube clips. For a Superman fan it's all worth it just for the "World made of cardboard" speech and moment in the final JLU episode. It's great stuff and despite my dislike of most of the rest of JL what I just listed is deservedly well liked by many.

Harry Lennix: I think you can depend on the acting -- you've got Amy Adams, of course. You've got Henry [Cavill]. I don't think there are any surprises with regard to that.

Really? Cavill is not even a good actor. He's very average. I hope he realizes that there are a number of new actors added to this sequel and not just the MOS cast lol.

I just posted this elsewhere, and I am not sure if that was the right place, so here it is: Guys. I actually just joined to address something I find so insanely wrong, yet so universally accepted, that I had to chime in. Everyone on this page keeps talking about the Comic Con footage as if it won't be in the movie. It is absolutely 100% in the movie and I gotta say... it's insane to think otherwise. The comment they made referred to NOT releasing it BEFOREHAND. Not that they spent 200,000 on a clip that isn't in the movie! Please pull your heads out, this in the biggest nonsense ever, and frankly I am sick of everyone saying it as if it's true. Anyone dumb enough to wager, I'd be happy to make a real monetary bet. I can't take the smug 'all because of a scene that won't be in the movie!' It's in the movie. It's from the movie. Stop this, it's embarrassing.

In your opinion of course...

Of course. But im going by the few movies ive seen from him. The one with Bruce Willis, Immortals, MOS. The guy is not a good actor. MOS is so far the best performance and it was very average. He fits Superman physically better than anyone so i cut him some slack. And he's a nice guy.

I agree that it's in the movie. But calm down. You're over-exaggerating. Ive heard only a couple of posters say it may not be in the movie. Dont be embarrassing.

I don't think he's had a quality script he can really sink his teeth into yet. I mean honestly in MoS he never had more than six or seven words to say at a time; seriously, it feels like he had maybe 20 in the entire film. That's why I cut him some slack. Yeah he was a little wooden at times, but his performance as Superman was, at worst, serviceable. He's got a good on screen presence and nearly unbeatable physicality.
I give a B overall. Lots of mysterious set ups.
That's promising. I really enjoy Agents of SHIELD, and that first episode was a C at best. Good to know Gotham hit the ground running in the first episode.

I agree with that for sure. He really hasn't had a good script at all, and i felt bad when a poster came on here saying that they heard Cavill saying something in an interview, like MOS was the best script he ever got his hands on. That's sad.

He was serviceable sure. That's because he's a genuine humble guy and it's easy for him to bring that into the role of Clark Kent, and he looks fit for it. But that's the only reason. So far his acting has been mediocre or bad in everything ive seen from him. He lacks dynamics. Wooden. But maybe he needs a better script.

Agreed on the visuals; best looking Gotham so far IMO. Hopefully they keep it up with the big, sweeping cityscape shots.

The Wayne murder(s)...meh. At least there was blood, but still was a bit underwhelming to me.

I like the nods and easter eggs throughout; waiting for someone to actually, finally call Carmine Falcone the "Roman" at some point.

There's potential...digging Cobblepot so far.

I thought Henry Cavill's acting in MOS was great. That is my opinion. I didn't think he was wooden at all.

Oh well, we can agree to disagree...

I'll say this, there was enough that worked for me in his performance to make me excited to see how he grows into the role in the next film.
