Wheeeee

She won't fly it would just make everything she has done not make sense and make her way too OP, basically have Superman's core power set plus magic weapons plus combat skill.

I like how they're depicting her very atheltically with that spin in the air and then landing on her feet running. That doesn't indicate flight to me.
this makes absolutely no sense. Superman and other Kyrptonians are OP. Who cares? They all have weaknesses. funny how the only female in the JL so far has to be lesser than to make a male special. And how would it fit the character better wh n she flys in everything else? The is zero logic in that.

Gal should fly like that as WW without her boots.

And I fortunately didn't see the WW trailer in front of Dr Strange. But then I don't remember seeing any trailers in front of the movie. They all just seemed to be commercials.

Why would she show her flying in BvS when they already said they weren't going to show her full power set? They might as well shown her going all God mode then too since it was a 15 feet monster. She flys in superhero girls for crying out loud. Every other character has their powers from the comics and she shouldn't? Makes no sense.

It didn't look like she had full flight in the trailer to me. While I preferred her to fly before we saw her in BvS, I'm ok with what they've done. She still appears extremely powerful. I'm more worried about her having an actual personality.

I've never liked the idea of Wonder Woman being able to fly. What's the point of invisible jet if you can fly?

She doesn't have powered shoes. She's literally suspended in air absorbing a lightning blast, which is hovering.

Gadot herself confirmed her version of Wonder Woman just doesn't fly.

Don't kid yourself into thinking this is the only time that happened. The most famous incarnation of the character from the TV show couldn't fly nor could the one in her first animated film. Also it wasn't displayed n her first outing why does she suddenly just start flying out of nowhere? Most likely if she was (which I doubt) it's from a magical amulet or assist in some way like the the shoes in the pic being a gift from Hermes or something.

She doesn't even fly in every comic book incarnation. She didn't in Azzarello's run until Hermes granted her the ability to do so.

Anyway, I've been rewatching the trailer, it looks to me like she does one of her high jumps to avoid being caught in an explosion when that building goes to hell and does the energy bubble thing with her bracelets:

Not sure what creates the blue lighting, though... probably whatever she is blocking.

I wasn't even talking about every comic, just every thing she is currently in, rebirth, superhero girls, etc. she wasn't flying when she started in comics and neither was superman, but most associate them both with flying. We can all point to various runs where she didn't do this or that, but just like with the bullet blocking with her bracers, people associate that power with Wonder Woman. It may be a generational thing because of the tv show and the invisible jet, but I've always associated the power of flight with her, so do many others. There is no point in regressing her powers. That lightning block and hovering happens in real time, it wasn't a leap then slow mo blast blocking. We can recognize when they do slo mo and it didn't look like that at all. There is an image that happens real fast and it is her hovering in the air before the lightning appeared.

I hope she doesn't fly. Just give her the ability to jump high. That makes her even more badass in my opinion. She is the tank while Superman is a fighter jet. She is on the ground packing serious firepower but still extremely agile and jumps and leaps when needed.

They probably didn't want to give Wonder Woman flight to make Superman's power-set more unique as well as giving her a more mythological feel than a superheroic one. She's still the better fighter and tactician. It's also why they made J'onn less strong and nixed his heat vision in the DCAU to focus on his telepathy and shapeshifting.

I didn't even know that she could fly in any incarnation, so it don't bother me none.

As to the movie, I think this looks just fantastic! Even more than being able to fly or jump high, I think one of the best examples of her powers, of her reflexes, is just before that Amazon swinging through the air obviously dies.

Diana is actually following the course of the bullet as it flies past her. Now yes, we all know she's fast enough to intercept bullets with her wrist guards, but in slow motion, to see her watching that bullet fly past just brings it home that she is something more than human.

And curious too. That's probably the first bullet she's ever seen - as well as the damage it can do.

I'm super pumped for this movie! Maybe it does take three tries, but I hope this will get DC on track.

the trailer YT views over 4m in the first 24 hours. now, approaching the 48th hour, it's a bit over 7.7m.

not caring about other movies to check for comparison. but I guess, a certain degree of hype for this film is there.

Wonder Woman flying has nothing to do with Superman. It wouldn't take anyone away from either character. Superman had a whole movie about him fighting people with his powers. Wonder Woman and Batman have similar combat fighting skills. When the green lanterns come to the JL they will fly. What separates WW is that she's WW. We don't know what powers they gave her until we see the movie but that scene looking like she is flying.

It was #1 trending too. this movie will be wildly successful, more than some give it credit for. All you have to do is look at the coverage.

I'm on the jumping bandwagon. She jumped high, and maybe had a little lift from the roof being blown up underneath her. I agree that flight should be strictly Superman, because if we make their powers too similar then how unique are they..?

Love that analogy.

Also why is it so hard to believe she just jumps high enough to give the impression she is defying gravity? Hulk does it all the time...:loco:

Because hulk doesn't hover for a period of time, he just bounces like a ball. And flings himself around. He certainly doesn't float straight up to block an attack. How is that even equatable?

What worries me is the ending, and how they intend to tie it into the long absence. "I used to want to save the world [and don't anymore]." To yet again use Superman's vapid BVS death as the big catalyst for moral awakening in JL, if they're going that way. It feels phony that someone who was trained as a warrior, who should at least be familiar with the old wars of history or those involving her people, would find just one adventure dispiriting enough to disconnect herself for that long

If Diana has only ever known 5,000 years of peace, prosperity and love on Themyscira before her WW1 adventures, then I don't think it's *that* shocking that witnessing the deaths and atrocities of WW1 would have a significant, life-changing impact on her.

BUT, on the other hand, unless we canonically hear anything different, I'm always going to pretend that Diana was involved in some way in "keeping the peace" for the 100 years until the events of DoJ. Even for Wonder Woman, stopping WW2 would have been an impossible challenge, but that doesn't mean that she wasn't covertly working to keep the Nazi occultists from getting their hands on magical / mystical artefacts that could have significantly changed the outcome of the war.

I'm happy to believe that Diana's job as an antiquities dealer is just a cover to let her travel around the world to locate, identify and, if necessary, destroy various artefacts which, if they fell into the wrong hands, could lead to death and destruction. Sure, maybe it's not the same as running (flying) around punching bad guys in the face, but it's still a form of heroism.

And Diana may have armoured up from time to time. After all, when she was in Gotham / Metropolis, she apparently had her armour and weapons with her which indicated that she travelled with them (although how they fit in her small carry on that she took with her from the plane is another question - a magical bag like Mary Poppins).
