The new trailer is fantastic! I love the period setting and the wonderful visual differences between the war and Themyscara, plus the tone feels like a good balance of serious with humour running through it, and the action looks awesome, WW moves like the comic pages come to life! :wow:

No, there's not, and she gets what she deserves. She managed to sound awkward in BvS (she worked in the party scene though, where she probably just got to be herself), despite having so little to do, and it continues here. There's no other superhero actor that can't even deliver simple lines like that.

So there's a clear reason why many people all over are criticizing her acting, and the reason is her.

YOUR OPINION... not a fact fella!

She has a way to go to beatn Hemsworth as Thor in my opinion... he is more wooden than Groot!

Lead actors? off the top of my head: RDJ,Ruffallo,Cumberbatch,Affleck,Miller,Pratt,McAvoy,Fassbender,Jackman,Reynolds,Evans,Hemsworth,Garfield,Lawrence,Scarlett,Saldana,Boseman,Larson.

I dont think Gadot is terrible or anything but she isnt nearly as good as most on that list

As I've just posted fella –*Hemsworth is shockingly bad (in my opinion) as Thor.
Reynolds makes me cringe too.
The others are all capable actors, excellent in most cases. The only other I have a problem with now... and it's not really down to him - is Chris Evans... god his Steve/Cap has gotten soooooo dull after TFA!

Wow, OK. You're certainly in the minority there.

lol wut?

I'm most certain that Jenkins' WW will be nothing like MOS, BvS and Suicide Squad. The only point that I'm unsure about is how dark (as in the story treatment unless Geoff John jazzed up the screenplay) Jenkins will go for WW. The trailer doesn't tell much how the film will flow, except for the Etta Candy portions most of the other sequences seem serious.

I get the impression that some of you have never saw a Jenkins film. Jenkins' previous film (Monster) and TV works dealt with subject matters that didn't lend to any form of light heartiness and escapisms.

I didn't know so many people disliked Hemsworth as Thor. Nothing wrong with his acting, IMO.

I think the operative word for the tone coming across is balanced. I think we're seeing in the trailers that she'll address the horrors of war and mankind's self-destructive tendencies. I think that will be balanced with the paradise and isolated utopia that is Themyscira. I think we'll get serious tone, respectful of the topics being explored, but lots of levity to make the movie entertaining. Movies shouldn't be light or dark. They should be balanced, and I'm feeling that way more on this one than BvS or Suicide Squad.

Like I said - my opinion. I genuinely find his acting terrible as Thor...
Maybe i'm not alone as the two Thor movies are amongst the lowest performing MCU movies.

The Thor movies are kind of awful, yes. Altough I like the first one for the most part.

The present-day framing (“I used to want to save the world”) suggests that the flashback events are being remembered with some degree of melancholy. Also: even if Trevor survives the adventure, he’d be long dead in present day. So, yeah - not entirely lighthearted/nostalgic escapism.

So many movie critics and acting experts here :whatever:
Good thing that in the real world people love the trailer and Gal.

Lol, so you're going to whine about an opinion not being specifically written out like that (despite that everyone knows we're discussion opinions) after you wrote "...there are worse actors and actresses in other movies of this genre that don't seem to get half the flak Gal does". That sentence is also written as a fact. You're being a hypocrite.

You're free to think that Gadot is worse than Hemsworth, but you can't have missed that it's a real minority opinion. To step away from my own opinions; Gadot has never been praised for her acting in any reviews I've seen, while Hemsworth has in several roles. I don't see how my initial opinion, which you responded to, can be so confusing given that fact.

There's an interview from Gal from earlier this year where she stated this movie was "pretty dark." I'm sure her and Jenkins are probably not allowed to utter that word anymore but I do think this movie will continue the serious tone of the DCEU movies.

That framing could be both at the begin and the end of the film. It's possible that the sequences will be like begin bookend (melancholy-like) -> Themyscira (hopeful, utopian environment gradually becoming despairing, dystopia-like) -> WWI (dark, brutal punctured by few light moments like the Etta Candy scenes) -> end bookend (uplifting along with some forewarning that may alluded to the next instalment in JL).

Which is great because a movie should have the tone the story requires. It shouldnt be just light or dark depending on what the fans want or just because its cool. When the story/subject matter demands it, the tone should be dark. There are no rules that just because its a cbm it should be humourous or should have a certain quota of jokes or vice versa. Lets just stop this light/dark BS and focus on the story please :)

As I showed in my other post, CGI can be improved as the movie gets closer to release.

My complaints are about the shot composition when Patty and the team used green screen. It makes the CGI look unrealistic and without depth.

So does this movie seem the most "Marvel-esque" out of the DC movies? I'm talking about general tone and cinematography. Obviously it's not going to be as light or humorous, but I'm just asking in comparison to all the other DC films we've had.

I don't think it feels like a Marvel film in the slightest. Other than the bright blue's and gold's of Themyscira, the action and war sequences in tone and context remind me of Man of Steel, just with less grit and grime. Maybe more like the Smallville fight in Man of Steel. They really made her standout though. The world has a nice gold/blue washout color (theme of the DCEU) but Wonder Woman really sticks out and shines. Superman looked like this in his Smallville scenes, but lacked it in the final Metropolis battle with Zod. I think it looks like a mixture between maybe The Wolverine and Man of Steel with elements of SSQuad mixed in. Not even close to being as dark as BvS but the distinct color pallet of the DCEU remains.

I'd day almost every modern movie has that color palate.

Yeah, that sequence was the only one that seems off to me, the slo-mo didn't help. But these are minor stuffs for me as I'm not overtly bothered by them. lol

Those Amazonians have contingencies for everything. "What if I have to glide down between two large cliff walls with my bow and arrow?"

Over preparedness is hot.
