Ok, guys. Focus, focus. Theres a China premiere tomorrow lets talk about that. Lol

C. Lee is going to delete a bunch of posts in this thread, take this talk elsewhere to BvS threads or Civil War threads.

You are making assumptions here, there's no indication that Diana is taking part in War just to fight 'Germans'.

I'm sure she wants to end the war, and that she is unbiased. Why don't wait till you see the movie before jumping to false conclusions ?

One, I'm not *assuming* this will be the case. I'm *worrying* that it *might* be. There's a difference. Why is it a worry? Because its a very easy failure mode to fall into if you don't bother to pay attention to story details. Because they've talked about taking inspiration from Cap 1. Because when your trailers show a whole lot of evil Germans, and all the heroic friends are coincidentally British or allied, it implies stuff. Because WB has a habit of being lazy, and "Just like a WWII movie, only in WWI" would be quite lazy. All these make it a plausible failure mode. Note "plausible", not "definite".

Two, because given WB's track record, I'm not going to give them money unless the movie is actually worth it. This means finding out beforehand at least the more obvious failure modes, and whether they avoid them. This means that, yes, I'm going to ponder and talk about the various ways they can screw up the movie that make it unworthy of time and money.

If they are on the side of gasing innocents then a hero would. Also, she's impartial?

The side in favor of using poison gas is "every side", so. . .

( Also, to the best of my knowledge the Germans never gassed "innocents", they used poison gas as a weapon on the treaches. Nobody there but other soldiers. Likewise for the French and British. )

Except in this case it takes place in a fantasy world and Ares the god of war is on the side of the Germans.

Which would be a failure on the writing level. Resolving a character issue by making one side in WWI black hat villains would be, generously speaking, throwing away all the useful thematic material the setting provides. Less generously, its insulting and offensive, pretty much basing the movie in contemporary-to-the-period propaganda that was rather malicious in its degree of wrongness.

Its also almost certainly *not the case*, as some early spoilers claim that Ares' human guise is in the *British* command, not the German one.

This, is assumption I was referring to. They are Not treating WW1 like WW2.

OK, save your time and avoid the movie if you want to do that, no problem but don't jump to baseless conclusions.

Does anyone know when the embargo lifts?

I based my comment off of the trailer and what Dr. Poison and the general are up to with the orders German soldiers may be following. But whatever.

This sounds exhausting, but do you.

Wonder Woman would be shown as a warrior fighting for peace. Now, I'm no expert in history but in WW1, both sides were fighting a war that killed thousands.

As the both sides are having villains in this movie, I'm sure that some sort of balanced approach will be shown and they will not turn it into WW2 like situation.

I sense the ban hammer coming for Captain Cold yet again.

Reviews are really coming out the Wednesday before release? That has me a little worried...

Placeholder, what's the point of holding reviews that long when early screenings take place on Monday, Tuesday, Weds. and the premiere is on the 25th.

Just saying that typically when a films embargo lifts day before wide release, it's not a good sign.

No one knows...since they havent announced a date that is just what is being said for now.

People need to relax about this...the critics havent even seen it yet. (well most of them) When they do WB can lift the embargo whenever they want. You all are wasting too much time trying to find reasons to worry...

I hearded too many things on both sides. Dont know who to believe. One says "mess" the other says "genius."
