The war plus it's the WWI ,it will be dark. Personally I like that
World War was a dark moment in history.
A pretty good portion of modern Wonder Woman stories have dealt with themes of war and peace, or serious issues faced by women and the downtrodden or persecuted. Darker and serious makes perfect sense. She's very much a symbol of hope in a troubled world.

The setting of a movie does not define it's tone. Not all war movies or movies depicting armed combat are dark. In fact there are dark movies without much violence.
Yes it's set during a war but:
Will the movie have dark filters or will it have a standard color?
Will they show blood and gore or will they just show soldiers falling down like in many other war films?
Will Wonder Woman kill, snap necks, etc. or will she just knock enemies down?
Will the movie feel joyless and depressing or will it feel inspiring?
Will the ending be dramatic or will it be a happy ending?
These are all options filmmakers have and both are equally valid, regardless of the setting. It all depends on what kind of movie they want to make.

Get a fresh pair of panties, cause some critic screenings take place today. Allegedly. Enjoy yo panic mode, you bastahs.
I've got my popcorn and GIF's ready.

The fat guy in charge of RT mentioned a screening tonight, but he later deleted his tweet.
This may sound petty, but between all the rumors, the talk of this film being a 'disaster,' one insider report to the next, the armpit discussion, the stigma of it being in the DCEU, the articles about lack of marketing...
The closer this film comes to release, the more I'd just like it to shatter expectations. Not meet them. Not exceed them. But shatter them. I know that's akin to the whole 'shatter the glass ceiling,' but this movie has had such an uphill climb from critics and every person out there with a keyboard that if it caught fire, that would be so satisfying, even my guess on this film's performance is as good as anyone else's.
I don't mean caught fire like, say, The Dark Knight or Avengers level, but if it ends up being something memorable for the right reasons, that would be great.
Plus, as far as who this appeals to, there's gonna be tons of young girls who'll see this and no doubt hopefully become more intrigued in Wonder Woman.

Got my tickets for a showing on the 31st. I'm sort of excited, just hoping the DCEU wont burn me once again.
I don't think the color of the film is a secret; we've all seen a pretty large sample from the released materials so far. As for the rest of your list, I kind of felt GotG2 fit a majority of that criteria, and I doubt it was considered dark. I think the most important thing is pacing of relief breaks in the narrative and balance.
Anyway, I just bought my tickets!
You can see the scenes on the Island have very bright colors.
They can't show blood and gore because it's rated PG-13.
The rest you'll just have to wait and see...
In my opinion a movie can be both dark and have funny sarcasm and light harted humor. As someone who lives through a war every few years and have been in the army I think as sense of humor is important in order to deal with the dark parts.
Yeah its clear now rhat "dark" means different things to different people. Myself, ill settle for "good" and "entertaining".
