Comics Amazing Spider-Man #569 NWTD pt2

Must...resist...Gwen Stacy and Goblin nads joke...hurrrrgh....

go ahead and make your Nads joke but if you mess it up TMOB and I will have to disown you.

From the looks of things, I honestly believe Brock will never be Venom again and he will be this new Anti-Venom (and so far it seems to be working). If it ends end doing justice to Brock's character, I honesty don't mind.

As for Venom, while I don't mind Gargon being the new Venom, I really wanna see him become Scorpion again. So me thinks either the symbiote will either be destroyed by the story's end or it will leave Gargon.

Now saying that, this story has an opportunity to making the symbiote its own villain. After reading Reign, I really enjoyed the aspect of the symbiote feeling abandoned from Peter and feeling he didn't address "his responsibility" to the symbiote. I feel if the symbiote lives through this arc, it should continue on swapping hosts. That way for the future the symbiote should be the main focus of "Venom" and not whoever is under the suit.

Agreed Venom1988.

I think Gargon has potential...but not as venom.

I dunno maybe having Pete easily beat him by dropping a building on him killed the character for me. Because I thought it was a cool idea when he first came out...until I read that part. It all feels like he has big shoes to fill.

I mean the guy was a private eye plus he was stronger and faster than Pete in his first appearance. why did they have to dumb him down? he could be a GREAT villian.

When Gargan first got the suit, I was too blinded by my disappointment of Brock getting yanked out of the villainy circuit that I didn't even focus on that. I gotta agree that he shouldn't have been that easy to beat, when it all comes down to it he's got an advantage with the symbiote; he had powers before and he should of had a longer, climactic battle. Overall, I only realyl started liking the character when I read Caged Angels in Thunderbolts, I kinda wish he'd bring back the tail though it'd give him some more abilities and make him more scorpion-like.

I agree about the tail. I personally still think he should STILL be called the scorpion. just my opinion though. :cwink:

personally i feel that would give him some well earned respect. he may have a previous A listers powers and costumes but he still is his own man.

Didn't the process that gave him his suit and powers originally (as Scorpion) mess with his intelligence?

I wouldn't mind Gargan/Venom symbiont taking on a more Scorpion-like appearance. As far as respect, I wouldn't count on it. Sadly he seems to have been suffering to the Goon Villain Syndrome. That and in Thunderbolts it seems to be at the base of his characters story at the moment. Not that there isn't room for him to grow as he seems to have a lot of self loathing which might drive him to change.

In his first appearance Scorpy lost his mind because after he "defeated" Spidey. He was overwhelmed with the power he had and felt he could have anything he wanted....

as for Gargan being dumbed down for a specific reason....hmm I'm not really sure. I remember it happened in the 90's cartoon series, but I don't know beyond his first appearance in the comics. :o

I always see him as "a loser dressed as Venom" ever since he got that building dropped on him...:csad:

I wonder what would have happened if Gargan obtained the symbiote INSTEAD of Eddie Brock to begin with.

I miss the scorpion before he became a mandated punching bag. When I read choosing sides was the first time in a long time Mac Gargan seemed badass again (well last stand too really).

So what's the deal with Mac-Venom claiming to know Spider-Man in and out, but not knowing that Peter is Spidey?
And also, if he can feel when his previous hosts are around, like when he found Brock, how come they weren't warning him about Peter?

Maybe we'll have to wait'n see about that one...

Yeah that really made no sense to me, especially since he was standing about 10 feet away from Peter last issue. Come on, "magic" can't beat instinct!

I thought that was funny, too...until I thought about it for a couple minutes...

Venom assumes that he still remembers who Spidey was. So when he felt the presence of one of his past hosts, he assumed it was Spidey. Turns out it was Brock, another former host.

Why didn't he get the little tingle when he was in the room with Pete? Simple! Because Venom (the symbitoe AND Gargan) don't remember who Spidey was, so they can't recognize someone they don't remember.

Slott seems to get all the postive buzz about these new Spider-man books. Does everyone who reads the new books think he should just get his own monthly Amazing run?

Seems logical. They could still rotate the artists. :bh:

Too many transfats in Pete's diet. :csad: They don't just block your arteries, but they block symbiote senses. :woot:

That would almost make sense if not for the already established fact that hell magics don't work effectively on the symbiote when joined. And I'm curious what the symbiote thinks happened the last however many years. Was it just a blank spot? It was in an alien jail then the next thing it knows its bonded with this guy named brock and trying to kill spider-man for some unknown reason. Perfectly reasonable to not question that. It isn't like Peter is the most integral part of the symbiote, responsible for teaching it emotions and feelings, so important that even when bonded to others the symbiote still craves it's true "love". Good stuff.

With the revelation in ASM #569 that Peter had help with someone to clear his identity (and you know it won't be Mephisto), you could say that "hell magics" were NOT used.

Exactly what I was going to respond with, but you got to it first.

But we know that no matter what reason Pete thinks this happened, it was really just mephisto.

Not necessarily... I think Mephisto had a hand in maneuvering people around so that the bargains agreed upon could happen.

Ok, that's not what Joey Q said about the issue and what happened at the time, but that's plausable enough in a ******ed way to be used.

I haven't posted in here much, as I'm not reading the arc. However, I think that Mephisto caused all of this...however he arranged things so that they could appear to have happened without having his devilish little fingerprints all over it, which would attract the attention of Dr. Strange, and tons of other mystical powered heroes and villians. He changed an event in the past that was inconsequential to those not involved (the marriage), but, when the ramifications from Peter and MJ being married never happened, the ripples and changes caused events to transpire to make the desired timestream effect.

It's basically the whole, "When you step on a butterfly here" thing.

Basically, the way I'm seeing it NOW (thanks to Peter's comments in ASM #569), he remembers not getting married, and everything up until BiB happened as it was presented, and then other things happened in the 4 month gap from OMD to BND that will explain all the "unexplained stuff" that we are reading now.
