Like I said, nobody starts opens a non-smoking bar because it wouldn't make money. That was my point with the strip club analogy. If it did make money, people would have opened non smoking bars. Now, with the ban, we have non smoking restaurant bars and smoking stand alone bars. And why should my rights be limited for you not to be inconvienced to go outside and smoke? See, it's a two way street. My right vs. your right. The smoking ban is the compromise, so how come you can't see that it's fair?
How about if anytime someone lights a cigarette up next to me, I can throw a beer in his face to put it out? Would that be fair. Don't I have the right to throw beer in people's face?
We have designated areas away from people so people can take a ****, so shouldn't we have designated areas away from people so they can smoke?
But that makes no sense. The majority of people do NOT smoke. So I'm sure a nonsmoking bar would do well. Here in Florida we have both and both do rather well.
You're still not getting it, the owners of an establishment have rights too. If they wanted to open a nonsmoking bar I wouldn't go in, you would. See how that works? I'm not limiting your freedom, I'm only asking for choices. You're actively trying to limit mine and the private property of bar owners because of your choice. Can you see the difference in that?
You're literally saying the same thing I did with the rights thing but I don't think you understand the point. If a bar owner chooses to open a smoking bar but you make a law to ban it, you've infringed on the owner's rights and since no bars can be smoking unless they jump through insane hoops then mine as well. If a bar owner chooses to open a nonsmoking bar I get to choose not to go, you get to choose to go, the owner isn't regulated and everyone wins. By making it illegal to have that option you've stricken the rights of everyone but people that agree with you.
You've really got it out for smokers huh? You want to throw beer around? Take it easy, I'm not insulting you or nonsmokers, but this thread is about America (USA to be specific) and since it was founded on freedoms, then I can't understand your want to limit them just because you don't agree. But then you are in the majority, so you can supress me and stifle my choices if you don't like them. People like you already have. You won, congrats. But please don't try to tell me your imposing your will on me is fair, it's not.
If you really want to throw beer in people's faces that's fine by me. But you should know that physical contact constitutes assault and whomever you throw it at then has the right to kick your @ss.
The piss (it was piss you were typing right?) analogy is just silly. But you know what if someone wanted to open a piss bar where people can just come in and piss on the floor, that's fine by me. I'll just make the choice not to go there. That's how choices work.
