Amy Adams is Lois Lane: - Part 10

We share similar concerns. Not that Amy isn't hot of course. (I have this undescribable qualm against the word 'hot' though - to describe actresses in action films that is..anyway different topic :P) but yeah, there isn't alot of raving about how hot she is in MoS - hmm perhaps a visit here is needed haha. I am also worried that WB execs might get a bit shortsighted in that aspect. Won't be the first time any studio execs be shortsighted...

The 'everyday/realistic' look they gave Lois in MoS by allowing Amy to play her without vanity is there for a reason. I fully have faith in the Snyders arguing their case for Amy :) Deborah Snyder it seems, mentioned a few times in various interviews Amy gave, was a particular champion of this iteration of Lois.

--
But yeah, till we get solid intel of Amy returning for MoS2 as Lois... I cant rest easy. It is a shoo-in that the role is hers if you ask me, but official confirmation is still good!

Well now you're scaring me

you're right. She's not the typical blockbuster " hot girl"

So much for hoping you would all tell me how ludicrous my concerns actually are :funny:

Now, after hearing Zack and Debbie Snyder complimenting Amy and saying nothing but good things about Lois in the film, and Amy herself stating that they would have to put a restraining order on her to keep her off the set of the sequel :funny:, I am certain that we will have her in at least in the next movie.

Also, Goyer seems to respect Lois and her relationship with Clark, and both aspects of the film proved to be fantastic.

As far as the critics go, they have made clear that they think the Clark&Lois relationship should have had more time dedicated to it within the movie.

Therefore, I dare say that we are safe for at least the next movie. Any kind of official confirmation would be very much appreciated, of course.:yay:

It's WB that worries me, though. I don't trust their judgment where females and sexism are concerned. I still hope they can put aside any 'hotness' contest and appreciate that, to this day, Amy's Lois Lane is the best portrayal of a female character in any comic book movie.

Again, why do you equate "spice" with a 3rd party? That's so dumb and cliche.

I can already see where there would be "spice" in the sequel. Clark not has to adjust to his new disguise as CK at the Planet. He has to hold back. Lois is really the "top" person at the Planet. She has power there that he doesn't. She may even be his boss. There are tons of dynamics to play with there as Clark tries to balance both of his identities and Lois tries to balance knowing the biggest secret in the world while also being the top journalist in the city.

There is zero need for a 3rd party.

Also, frankly, I've always found the Lois/Lex thing to be super insulting to Lois. It throws her under the bus for the sake of cheap drama for Clark. Lois is way too smart to ever fall for Lex's crap. I much prefer narratives that make it clear from the start that she knows he's full of crap just like Superman does.
My sentiments exactly. There are so many ways of 'spicing things up' without making the characters look bad in the process. Besides, they've practically just met! I would like for the sequel to focus on them getting to know each other before having to face too many obstacles.

I think Amy was pitch perfect for her role as Lois Lane and how she was written for this reboot, so I don't get why people were complaining about her. Was it really because she wasn't "hot" enough or was it the age thing? If so then those are quite shallow reasons, I think I'd rather have someone who can actually act and add depth to character rather than someone who is "hot" or looked the part but with subpar or mediocre acting ability. To be honest, Man of Steel didn't have the best script so you can just imagine if it were to be paired with bad actors...:BA

Btw regarding the age thing...sure she had some age lines but so did Henry. She looks younger than her age and Henry looks older than his, so it's quite a good match. I think if people weren't aware of the age difference then they wouldn't have any preconcieved bias when they were watching the film. Am I making any sense?
You are making a lot of sense. Not once did I think during the movie that Lois was older than Clark. I think they both look like they are in their early thirties. I could buy that she is 1 or 2 years older than him; but then I could buy her being a couple of years younger too.

Unfortunately, the existing double standard where men and women in Hollywood are concerned prevents some people from understanding that, as long as it is believable, it doesn't matter how old the actor is in real life. As a matter of fact, actors are more usually than not cast to play a younger part.

And they had combustible chemistry in the film, heck even in real life they totally look good together too, so IDG the complaints about that too.
Yep, I totaly agree.

Btw...my first post here..just had to delurk because reading all those "opinions" on random forums is giving me a headache. Whenever I come across comments like those I keep remembering this meme of a woman saying,"You are entitled to your own wrong opinion". :cmad:

Anyway, moving on to better things..that is the sequel, which I really hope to happen next year. Like many of you I'm hoping the main cast stays on board, especially Amy. And I hope her role would be equally as big or pivotal as it had been in the Man of Steel. I'm all for lighter moments too, especially i the Daily Planet scenes. I literally squeed during the last three minutes of the film!!! I nearly lost it when Lois said "Welcome to the Planet" with that knowing grin and Clark just gave off that super cute and teethy smile I nearly died, ahah!:woot: I know he said something too but all I could honestly remember was Henry's smile!
Welcome to the Hype. I lurk most of the time, too ;)

That scene was pitch perfect! I wish we had gotten a lot more of that. Then I was so mad that I didn't get the double meaning of that line when I first saw it! Lois's face and Clark's smile and line after that ("Glad to be here, Lois") had me giggling for several hours :woot::hrt:

I thought adams was fine in the role. However on maybe a superficial note i find it interesting how the last two lois's cast are both pretty fair skinned actresses when it seems the trend has been to depict modern lois with somewhat darker features or a bit ethnically ambiguous.

I actually like that look for lois.

should they have some adult scene in MOS2 like they did in SII? :D

Those little moments brought me so much JOY and I realized at that moment how much I loved the Daily Planet dynamic and how important it is for a Superman story, I would have traded 10 minutes of the last Metropolis fight for a few more minutes with the Daily Planet crew.

I'm so excited for a sequel because this is when the the reporter Clark, the Lois/Clark dynamic and the DP crew will be front and center. And this time it's Clark and Lois as partners with LOIS knowing everything, it's something we've never had in movies before. So many exciting possibilities :woot:

This is my ideal Lois, no one in live action has ever come close to that. I wonder whose features this was based on.
As for Lois looking exotic, I'm fine with a non white Lois, heck I wonder if she even has to have loved in America all her life.
Also I think Lois in the Doomsday movie did look Hispanic, it would have been easy to imagine she was if I didn't keep having Anne Heche pop into my head.

Olivia is actually more on the fair side (when she avoids the tanning bed or isn't covered with orange goop).

Maybe the late Elizabeth Taylor in her prime? She's the only celebrity I can think of with violet eyes. Plus she had the dark hair as well.

Emanuell chiqrui and nina dobrev both have a vaguely similar look to that but their acting leaves much to be desired.

To which look? Animated series or Doomsday version? Animated version looks more like a younger Courtney Cox to me.

I love the violet eyes but I honestly thought the artists just made that up, but perhaps it was Elizabeth Taylor. In Superman Unbound Lois has red eyes.

It's violet there as well.

In some shots, I guess it does look sort of red though.

Any suggestions guys for what Lois's individual arc should be in MOS 2 or what you guys would prefer seeing for her character to do aside from exploring her relationship with Clark/Superman?

Speaking of which, given that Lois already knows the secret, you think they would go the route where they would pay homage the nostalgic banter where Lois treats Clark in a bossy way like she did in the George Reeves/Christopher Reeves era? Or do you think that it'd be better if they allowed her to just treat Clark (in front of others at the DP) as her colleague where they can openly express their affections for each other?

I'd like to see some banter between the two, although I can't imagine under what circumstance...I'm trying to think if Lois can actually boss around Clark knowing that he's Superman.

Maybe we can have Clark not knowing what to do with random things in the office like troubleshooting a printer (those things are always tricky)and the Lois will go and help him with it...? haha I know it's a pretty bad script and maybe OOC but it'd be funny to see Superman struggling with technical stuff like computers

Just a little question...I haven't read the comics so I don't know how Clark/Kal is. Is he super smart? I know he's got all the xray vision and what not, but that doesn't make one automatically a genius. Or is it that since he's not human, that means his intelligence is really superior than average?

With all the actresses mentioned above...I still prefer Amy over all of 'em. I'm not willing to trade acting chops with looks, but I'm speaking for myself here as a moviegoer and not exactly a comic book fan. I understand why fans wanted to have Lois sport some dark locks since it's part of her trademark looks. But I guess Snyder really wanted to set the difference for this reboot.

I guess we (me at least) will never get why people complain about her. Amy is definitely hot enough for anything but then again, Superman's significant other need not to be hot. Srsly, I think they are just not getting it. At all

I believe one of the regular posters here did some very valid and very great posts debunking the silliness of people who complained about those very shallow aspects of the casting. Welcome! I just recently delurked myself after reading everything from pg1. Good stuff indeed.

Yep you are making sense :) Also, no casting can please everybody. So when some actress got casted and wasnt so and so's "ideal choice", things like age and whatevs gets picked up and nitpicked upon by the irrational ones amongst said group of people who didnt get their "ideal choice". Well let them waste their time being unhappy about it, I couldnt care less

I squealed too :highfive: That was so good. He said "[BLACKOUT]Glad to be here, Lois."[/BLACKOUT] Honestly, I only saw that sparkle in Amy as Lois' eyes but yeah his teethy grin is pretty awesome too!! Hehe.
