Here's a newsflash for you, not many men here were gushing about Hathaway's appearance in that movie because most of the men here are straight and that movie either just didn't interest them or its subject matter flat out made them uncomfortable. As a matter of fact, based on some of the comments I was reading here around the time Heath Ledger's casting as the Joker was announced, I would say that only a handful of straight men here had seen the movie. That number was bumped up significantly AFTER he was cast, but then people were watching it to focus on Heath's performance to try to gauge how well he'd do as the Joker, they weren't watching it primarily to oggle at Hathaway for the few minutes of screentime she had.
Having said that, I'm very nitpicky about appearances when it comes to Selina. I admittedly went to some very silly extremes in my opposition to Marion Cotillard getting picked for the role in an earlier rendition of this thread... but I never had anything negative to say about Hathaway's appearance, because she looks like Selina. I don't give a damn if she makes other guys pitch a tent in their pants as soon as they see her, just to look like the character is more than enough for me. I'm just going by looks here, though. I haven't seen many of her movies, but considering how many people had egg on their faces about Heath (I saw BBM, so I never doubted his talent), I'm just going to assume that Nolan picked her for a reason and hope her performance blows me away when I see the movie. Now, if people want to talk about the reasons why she doesn't look like Selina, that's just fine and dandy with me... but this is a movie role, not the Miss USA pageant.
The stuff you said about her pictures being airbrushed and so forth is a moot point, because this can be said about 95% of young Hollywood actresses. They all have an image to sell and all use similar means to do it. This is pretty much common knowledge. You would have been able to say the same thing about anyone who was in the running for this role.
Also, she had a pretty high number of votes from people who wanted her as Catwoman in an earlier rendition of this thread. I don't remember the exact percentage, and she was still a good deal behind Cotillard, but there were people who wanted her in this role before it was even known that she was in the running for it.
Agreed. Anne Hathaway wasn't specifically who I had in mind for Selina Kyle/Catwoman, but once she was cast, I trusted in Christopher Nolan and his casting director John Papsidera, and I think she is a good choice.
Anne looks great but somehow I don't think that will be the final look. Hair can be changed up until the day of filming and how do we know she's even really filming anything at this point? Sure the film crew is there, but maybe she really is just enjoying a holiday in London. I just have my doubts as to this being the final look. I mean even for "One Day" Anne changed her look several times, it just seems unlikely she wouldn't do something rather drastic for what is sure to be the biggest role of her life.
Then again, I'm just speculating. It's possible this could be it, I'm sure she'll have numerous stylists on set and of course she'll look amazing. But I can't help but think that until Nolan & Co. are committed to releasing an official photo they may ask her not to change her look right away as to not really give anything away.
If they do stick with the long brown hair I hope they darken it a bit a give it a little wave like this for example:

Or perhaps they can do a little more volume, a la Lee Merriwether...

In other words...volume, volume, volume....

^.^
She is beautiful.
Exactly!
It's funny how she's wearing tight leatherish looking pants (cut me some slack, I know nothing of fashion) and sunglasses. Seems like it's been a trend for her over the last few months. Wonder if it's conscious or subconscious? Part of getting into character?
Or she could like wearing leather. Who knows?
