The Dark Knight Rises Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman XXXI

The one thing that separates Batman from other superheroes is the rogues gallery, and I'm just glad we got great versions of these villains, there's not a bad villain in this series and every actor is fantastic. My hope is that DC actually takes a few notes from this series (especially Bane) and adapts some of what Nolan brought to film into the comics.
hope we see same in MOS his rouge's gallery is just as good

I think Brainiac could be the Joker of that series if handled well enough.

I still don't like the costume, in fact it's borderline pointless in the movie, but at least there's more Anne visible.

She should just run around naked then, and at least there would be more Anne visible. :wow: When it was cold during winter, she would be bound to perk up.

She's a similar character to Holly Robinson.

Did it actually mention Juno Temple's name in TDKR?

Anne's Catwoman is definitely the best interpretation on screen IMO. She is also the one who felt most like a real person and that, even in her Catwoman persona, people would still be able to relate to her.

I wish she had a cat in her apartment though.

Also, I feel like there was a scene missing almost when Bane destroyed the prison and the inmates escaped. I would've liked to have seen Selina escaping with trepidation and wondering what she had allowed Gotham to come to because of Bane.

I believe you Team Captain! :hrt: [BLACKOUT]He was about to die![/BLACKOUT] Gotta have some tongue action! :woot:

Exactly! He went into the breach [BLACKOUT]one last time[/BLACKOUT], he needed a sweet taste in his mind! :woot:

It makes me sad that we won't see Bale's Batman/Bruce and Anne's Catwoman/Selina interact again. I wanted to see more.

Me too, I absolutely loved TDKR but I can't help but wonder what it would have been like to see them interacting in a more straight forward Batman crime story where they got even more focus.

A lot. Oh, and in head to head match-ups the answer is always Hathaway #1.

I love the way Catwoman kissed Batman. Her right hand rested on his cowl, and then she wrapped her left arm around his neck and got right into it.

I'm surprisred this hasn't become a "Dat ass!" Gif lol.

I was stunned when I saw how much chemistry Christian and Anne had.

Christian is usually a wet blanket with his female co-stars, so I'd love to know how Anne brought that spark out of him. :woot:

The Anne.....Dudes dig the Anne!

Yeah, makes me wish that they had Selina in the previous two films as a more straight criminal and villain who progressed from that to hero at the end of TDKR. That would've given us more of Anne and we would've had 3 films with her to savour, or even at least one of the previous films. Not sure which one she would've slotted into better. We had Scarecrow in 3 films so why not Selina?

It's as if they hit on a brilliant idea a little too late.

You know that actually would have been really awesome.

Taking advantage of both the situations in BB and TDK and seeing her in action stealing from the mob and the Joker for example would have been great.

That's exactly what happened. :(

I think she was really hoping Bats could defeat him and rid her of the problem.

Batman want her to lead him to Bane---so she did fulfill their agreement

outcome 1, if Batman defeat Bane---Selina may feels good

outcome 2, if Bane defeat Batman---Selina may feels ok(start to feel awful after she learned Batman is Bruce )

I wonder if Hathaway will be part of Nolan's recurring cast in the future considering she did so well in this.

There were some rumors last summer when the film began shooting. :cwink:

Bale: I haven't felt anything down there for years. You make me feel like a man again.

Anne: It's not called The Dark Knight Rises for nothing you know?

Bale: I thought it was called "Keeping the British end up!"

Agree 100%, and I really felt that way as well. Honestly, Miranda Tate shoud've been kicking 'round the background for the last movie at least.

Yeah, I loved Hathaway's Selina, I just didn't feel like she was well developed. I never got a sense of her motivation, but she was a loveable b*tch.

That was my problem though. The beginning of the movie up until the last five minutes she's basically a b*tch criminal who helps out of necessity almost. When she kills Bane, she even remarks how she doesn't agree with his "no gun rule" (despite using his guns lol). So even though they kiss I never got the impression they actually liked each other, except in passing. It's almost like Bruce conned her into the relationship with the eraser-thingy, but how does he know she won't promptly screw him over first chance she gets? She did before, like two hours ago, and did it to every guy in the movie. I never sensed her having a desire to redeem herself, just a desire to survive, possibly to continue her mission. She seemed to relish in being Catwoman, like anything else was just to boring and pedestrian.

Had she been introduced a while back we could've seen more of a come around on this.

From one of my friends Facebook status...

The dark knight rises ............. WATA SHOW !!!!
P.S ANNE HATHAWAY .............
:hehe:

Just a taste of the thought from the very general public. :woot:

That is true, and it's definitely interesting on how Nolan has molded the holy trinity of Batman's villains in comparison from the other interpretations that I've seen in media outlets.

1. Joker doesn't want to really kill batman; not interested in money.
This isn't really anything new. In fact it's quite an old interpretation of the character. I'm pretty sure even the animated version was like this.

2. Two Face doesn't see himself as two different personas, not interested in money.
I don't see how this is an improvement. There are plenty of angry disfigured villains. Two Face's split personality made him distinct.

3. Selina Catwoman...more of antihero than straight up villain when compared to her other media outlets...let alone on how she ends up with bruce in the end.
Again, not new. Catwoman has always switched between hero and villain. It's the basis of her and Batman's romantic relationship.

Wasn't it refreshing to see Selina in

the color blue at the end, well besides the orange prison jumpsuit haha? It was like a whole new Selina before our eyes...i thought it looked like Anne's personality

I loved that too. And yes, it seemed like Anne's personality, as if Selina could actually become a normal girl like Anne and do normally things like go on vacation and sit at cafes on a date.

One of the things I'm disappointed in though (and this was just my wishful thinking) is that Selina didn't say the line "what a forward young man you are!"

There were plenty of opportunities for that, either with Bruce or even Blake.

I think Brainiac could be the Joker of that series if handled well enough.

It's funny because before TDK came out, I proposed Brainiac as the next villain and primarily focused on the idea of presenting cruel, impossible situations and turning the public against Supes. The TDK came out, and it was like "Well...there goes that." But yeah, aside for the sci-fi and big-action elements, something like Brainiac should be cold and cruel, someone that put Superman through the emotional wringer as well as the physical.

Just adapt the Superman: The Animated Series version of Brainiac... and you've got a movie.

I think so. I can't wait to hear what Nolan is doing next.

In the empire article they mentioned trepidation over trying to bring Catwoman into the story. I think it was better we didn't see the character until now. It might of been too much.

I think Miranda could of fit into the Dark Knight but they might not of known if they were going to use her character.

Batman trusted Catwoman towards the end because he knew she was trying to start over. He mentions this in the ballroom. He knew she betrayed him to save her own ass but was banking on her not making the same mistake twice.

people need to realize that side characters like catwoman, venom, elektra are side characters for a reason they are not as interesting without the hero to interact with

Support literature, read some comics.

You'll find many "side characters" with their own stories.

Looking back there really isn't a place for her in either of those two films, which is in contrast to Tate who could have been adapted into film one. I'm just glad they managed the holy trinity of Batman rogues in this series, Joker, Two-Face and Catwoman, if she wasn't in this film there would always have been a bit of 'yeah but..' associated with the film.

Yep and it's hard to imagine anyone doing those three better (well at least Harvey Dent becoming Two-Face in his case). Really the only major Bat-villain I feel like we didn't get in this series for me is Harley Quinn. Never cared for Penguin or Riddler and got the five I always liked best (Joker, Two-Face, Catwoman, Ra's Al Ghul and Bane).

They did a great job of that in this series.

There were certainly lines to suggest that redemption was in her nature, I just felt like they never properly followed through on this until the very end when they had to. The conceit of the movie is that she is reformed, but judging by her actions she still seems on step away from going back to her old habits. Her cartharsis seemed very forced, like because Batman wanted it so bad it had to be so, which incidentally was his mistake with Rachel. Had she been around, or maybe had they cut out guys like Foley or Blake perhaps they could've spent more time showing them come together. Like I said, prior to the kiss, they only seemed to have a very passing sexual attraction. In fact I never really seemed to get the impression she was interested. I think when Bruce visited her house something more concrete should've happened between them. They should've made a clear pass at each other. This gets kind of wasted on Miranda Tate, and I had trouble believing that romance too.

The romantic subplots felt immature and undeveloped.

Miranda Tate pretty much just straight up banged him like a ho, and now it's true love.

The movie almost half suggests Batman was a virgin. Like "hey look, instead of being the friend zone he finally got some p***y, now Batman doesn't seem so fun anymore".

Honestly, that may be the most believeable aspect of the movie, lol.

I actually would've liked to have seen the Riddler. He could've been more of a serial killer in the vein of Kevin Spacey's criminal in Sev7n leaving all these clues for Batman to solve. It's a shame there wasn't a fourth entry in the series. This Nolan franchise almost seems sometimes like a crime TV series like Law and Order or CSI, so having Batman do some detective work would've been great. Not sure when he could've done it though since he was on the run for the past 8 years having been branded a criminal. It would've been nice to see Batman actually working with the police as the World's Greatest Detective. Maybe in the next Batman franchise hopefully.

I noticed that in the end, Selina Kyle had no explanation for her costume and why she would dress as she did with a domino mask. And the audience bought that. Normally Nolan would try to justify all these things, but he didn't bother. I think this is the way to go with other costumed heroes. Instead of us obsessing over why they would wear such things, just do it, and do it with confidence, as the audience accept it. Sure, she could potentially look like a sex fantasy, but because of Anne's acting, she was a real person that we liked and could even relate to. And that made her the best thing about this movie, and for me, the best thing in the trilogy.

Puuuurrrrrrrrfect

I've said it before and I'll say it again; Anne's Catwoman was by far my favorite character in this movie. She's right behind Heath's Joker for me.

The Riddler and Catwoman would certainly have made a great duo for a Batman crime drama, the only problem is that this being a finale, I don't see how both of these characters could escalate the stakes from the second movie. I just don't see the Riddler being capable of causing widespread damage and bringing Gotham to its knees.
