The Dark Knight Rises Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman

Reaction to Hathaway's Casting

  • Purr-fect.

  • Stinks like kitty litter.

  • Haven't made up my mind yet.

Selina should be an artist for a cosmetics company...ugh, nevermind.

Yeah, the blacked out eyes are kind of par for the course these days though. Hell, just look at Bats himself. I don't really think it's necessary for Catwoman either, but I wouldn't be surprised if we see it regardless.

Almost none of the past versions of Catwoman have gone for the blackened out eyes look. Every version that's been in live action has gone for more open looking eyes, and IMO the best looking ones have always had her eyebrows visible (although the visible eyebrows are not a necessity). It looks sexier and lets us see more of her feminine features.

The only version of Catwoman I can think of where they went for the blackened out eyes look was her revamped character design in Batman: The Animated Series. And I did not like that design much.

Michelle Pfeiffer has such killer eyes. They are sexy and evil.

Never was a fan of this either. They should have kept their original design for her and just made it sleeker like what they did for Harley. It seems like they were trying to do an animated version of Pfeiffer's Catwoman with this, considering the pale skin and solid black costume, but that design worked much better in live action.

It's too bad, because some of Bruce Timm's alternate designs were pretty good.

He's even done drawings of Catwoman's modern costume. :awesome:

The top one she looks like Willy Wonka. Not a fan of the exposed hair if she has a cowl, I like the bottom one best though.

How so?

Thanks. I figure her hair's not gonna be exposed in TDKR, but I like how it looks, so most if not all CW manips are gonna have hair from me.

The paleness and the glasses I think. Yea the exposed hair does look better but I doubt she'll have it out in the film. I like the colors on the bottom one

in the minority i guess but i've always preferred the hair sticking out of the cowl look

I wouldn't say you're in the minority. I also prefer the open-backed cowl, and many people I've talked to as well. However, even though I think it's great for comics and it looks a lot sexier, it's not very practical for film, which is why they'll probably go for the closed-back cowel.

BTW, I bought Get Smart on Blu-Ray today. If that movie doesn't convince you that Hathaway is perfect for this role, nothing will. :)

I guess as a girl with long hair, I know how awkward it is to wear a baseball cap over my hair without wearing my hair up - it just doesn't...flow. Makes me feel like I'm wearing a mullet or something. So as result, the "hair outside the cowl" version just looks awkward and impractical to me.

But otherwise, I love those manips, Majik! If we got a cowl, goggles and suit like either of those, I'd be thrilled.

I think they'll go with the no-hair catsuit, but anne looks better with long hair.

The hair out of the cowl isn't the only thing unpractical about that piece of art. :D

She was great in Get Smart and yes the infrared laser dodging sequence was Catwoman-esque.

I think thats because those are Timm's drawings of the redesigns. I dont think he was the one responsible for the TNBA redesigns.
