Is there anything you can tease about the new Arrow villain Damien Darhk? — Darlene
It’s safe to say that Damien is the reason Oliver returns to Starling City to suit up once again. “[Oliver] left the city in very good hands,” EP Marc Guggenheim tells me. “He entrusted Laurel, Diggle and Thea to mind the fort. Damien represents a threat that three heroes are not enough to combat. When we’ve written the villains — the big bads of the season — we always took the approach that they were heroes of their own story. They were doing the wrong thing for what they consider the right things. That’s not the case with Damien. He’s not nearly as moral. We wanted a villain who was pure evil because we’ve never really done that on the show before. That’s what Damien represents. He’s the prince of darkness.”

Hope Anarky isn't as annoying/lame as the version on Beware the Batman.

I'm glad Katie is getting rewarded. To go from a character that's alienating the fanbase to being one of the best things on the show is astounding.

Totally agree. I'm glad Laurel is getting the treatment she deserves. I've always liked Katie, and I'm happy to see her getting more good material.

Arrow Season 2.5 Finale First Look: Malcolm Plots Sara's Murder

As revealed in our sneak peek of the last edition — written by executive producer Marc Guggenheim, with art by Joe Bennet, Craig Yeung and Jim Charalampidis — the Dark Archer begins to formulate the assassin’s demise after Sara (cheekily) refuses to help him in his battle with Ra’s.

This is something that they should've showed more of in the actual show.

I've never read the comics, but I feel like a lot of the major stories and developments in between seasons take place in those.

Also, why does she look more like Laurel?

I am very happy about this, it is a nice change. I have been hoping for a while that we would get such a villain. The villains we have had so far have not necessarily been "evil" but rather people who went about seeking justice (or at least it was justice in their minds) the wrong way. I did not agree with them, but I could understand them and why they did what they did. They had redeemable qualities and shades of grey. A villain with no redeemable qualities (like Heath Ledger's Joker) and with very little grey will be an interesting change and should bring different dynamics to the show as well as providing a different type of threat for Oliver.

I hope that they focus more on the main characters of the show like Laurel, Thea and Diggle etc this season rather than bringing in characters like Ray who is mainly there to expand the universe. It would be nice to see Thea, Diggle and Laurel have their own enemies/rivals for them to struggle with and eventually overcome rather than having them tag along with Oliver to be defeated easily by the villain of the week before Oliver eventually takes them down (ie the Roy treatment).

Also, hopefully this time the villains minions are more of a threat than the LOA minions (who were just cannon fodder) were and are not just army of motiveless papier mache henchmen.

I have a strong feeling that we're simply going to hear about what a good job the current team has been doing in Oliver's absence. Then we're going to see them fail miserably against Darhk and they're finally going to have to call Oliver back.

Also, since the show begins 5 months later .... Does that mean Ray has been small that whole time? It doesn't sound like he will play much of a role until Legends begins, but that's still months away. I assume he will appear in the season premiere and then be written off, but there's been no mention of what he's been going through for 5 months, presumably by himself.

Well from what I'm hearing in Season 2 of The Flash [BLACKOUT]Barry may be like Bruce with the lone wolf thing, I guess DC wants almost all there heroes be like Batman first Oliver, now Barry? [/BLACKOUT]

Yeah that threw me off. I thought this was Laurel. And I was wondering if this was Damien Darhk, not Malcolm.

I thought it was Laurel as well. It's the costume that confused me more than anything else. It doesn't resemble Sara's at all.

They wear black leather jackets and black pants/boots so from a side view, they would look the same. But not from the front.

Yeah, she seems taller and slimmer like Laurel, not to mention, the most obvious difference in their costume being the open jacket and the shorter sleeves. Granted, the open jacket is shown in that pic, but Sara's arms weren't completely cover up.

Also ... why are they releasing a first look at the 2.5 comic now? I get that they wouldn't want to spoil certain things, but people are hyped for season 4 now .. unless it's to be released along with the season 3 DVD, but even then, I feel like it would make more sense to see what happened in between seasons while the season is coming up.

Frankly, I'm surprised 2.5 is even still going. Why should anyone even give a **** when 1) the events of the comic (at least to my knowledge) weren't even referenced on the show and 2) season three is over?

Probably because it was a big moment in S3 and this is the finale of 2.5. And 2.5 is the same as 1.5, they come out once a month and lead up until the new season before they transition into 3.5.

But what I'm saying is it makes more sense if things went:

Season 1 (TV) - 1.5 (Comic) - Season 2 (TV) - 2.5 (Comic) - Season 3 (TV) - 3.5 (Comic) - Season 4

I get that releasing something that spoils the premiere might be bad, but at least release that sometime after the premiere, not after the entire season is over. The timing just feels like I'm reading a prequel to the season that already ended. Why not deliver some content in the 5 months off to build up to what's about to come.
