Meh, get rid of Felicity and Curtis. JMO.

And focus on the bad guys and how the good guys overcome them. Throw in some "neutral guys" so that the good guys have foils. And focus on the drama the stems from the action/crime/overarching story instead of stupid ****ing wedding showers.

The show went from good, to really good, to bad, to average. The bad and average trend began with the Olicity basket.

I think this season is pretty good (I wouldn't call it average), but it is just that I know that it can be better, because I have seen season 1 and 2.

This season has been good so far, but it's not quite on par with 1 and 2.

It's definitely been bogged down by said ****ing wedding showers. I don't think Arrow has ever been great. But back in season 1 & 2 I thought the potential was there. I don't see that potential anymore. The show is very schizophrenic in the sense that one scene I'm all "**** yeah" to the next scene making me want to change the channel.

Well David Ramsey said the rest of the season is as good as Season 2. It was only second half of season 2 that made it strong. I don't see why Season 4 can't match it because of one character. There are still episode in 4 that are better than 2 but not enough people acknowledge that

It's what happens when you decide to make the sidekick tech chick that was suppose to be in 1-2 episode in S1 the co-lead and pander to shippers

At least they didn't take the Smallville approach and have him marry her drunk in a Hangover styled episode.

There IS no pandering it just part of the story. Sound like it a weak excuse to trash Felicity.

IDK .. when the first batch of photos you post on Twitter to promote the new season is not Ollie's new suit, but rather a collection of Olicity vacation photos, it kinda comes off as pandering.

It's not "trashing", as you so fondly put it, if it's true. If I didn't care about this show I wouldn't still be around since the end of season 1 and I definitely wouldn't waste the time or thought I put into my posts. Telling me to stop watching because I don't agree with the direction the show is going sounds like stanish fanboyism. That's like telling me to stop liking Superman or Batman because I might not like the current writers of the comics. Check yourself homie.

Agreed. You (and lots of posters here, including me) have been mostly positive about the show. There is nothing wrong with a little criticism.

I don't see how, that relationship is one of the main aspects of the show.

Yeah, I look forward to this show a lot more than I do Flash, but even I can't say that Arrow has been on par with the Flash for the past season in a half. It really sucks watching my favorite show and thinking that its best days are behind it.

I'm not against Olicity for Shipping reasons, I'm against it because it the last 3 1/2 years, I've grown very attached to many of the characters and it's very disheartening to see that 75% just aren't considered important until the plot calls for them to be. I noticed it with Roy last season (when I was really excited to see where they take him) and now Thea and Laurel this season,(again, very excited to see them). For the most part, these "team members" are just wallpaper, rarely contributing to the show, or moving it forward. Instead, they just disrupt the status quo momentarily so that we can spend an episode or two getting it back to where it was, with little to no growth.

This season so far is far better than last season, but it's still lacking in many areas, and it's not hard to see that the fact that the more time and focus they give to one thing, the less they have for everything else.

Yes, it has been because it's being forced down our throats. It was not the main aspect of season 1 or season 2. It was the main aspect last season and the show suffered greatly for it.

Tell me, if you didn't watch this show, but were interested and asked for a synopsis, and were told that this show is about a superhero that occasionally fights crime, but more often than not spends time judging his teammates until his girlfriend calms him down and he realizes that he totally loves her on a weekly basis, would that interest you, because that's the show they're promoting. The same show that had intriguing storylines and bad ass action scenes and was a must-see comic book show just two years ago.

I'm a bit fan of Thea and I think she has gotten some good development this season, but I don't expect the supporting characters to feature as often as the leads story, it's the same with every show in the genre, for instance Agents of Shield spends way more time on Coulson and Skye/Daisy's storylines than on May and Ward, but they still get their eps.

I agree with this statement.

I don't see it as forced down my throat at all, there is plenty going on every week on the show, good action, development for the main characters by turn and I like Oliver and Felicity's scenes together. I don't particularly want a show where all there is each week is a guy in a costume beating baddies up.

Meh. There was a way for them to keep the show the quality of S1 & S2 and still appease the shippers but they either have no interest in doing it or can't do it.. Either way pandering to the shippers and making the sidekick tech chick the co-lead has hurt the show

They have taken the characters in their natural direction and I like season 4 better than season 1 quite comfortably.

The worst part of season 1 was easily the forced love triangle with Tommy, Oliver and Laurel. And of course, this is the CW, so you have to expect that.

But my issue with the past two seasons is not that Olicity is a thing. I'm not saying it needs to end. But what I will say it needs to be handled a little better. Olicity was pretty much absent between episode 1 and episode 9 last season, but it was when it became the main focus, that the season suffered.

Smallville had the same issue where Clana was its bread and butter, but after a few years, it was tiresome and it felt forced to the point where no one really wanted it anymore, and it took Kristin Kreuk leaving, as well as Miles/Gough leaving, for the show to go in a different direction. But even then, her 5 episode return killed all momentum in season 8.

There are ways to handle relationships and characters, and when it comes to Felicity, they've dropped the ball badly last season and they come close to picking it back up, but they haven't fully recovered.

Can we get an Amen?

Well with all due respect to David Ramsey, he's not going to say the 2nd half of the season is bad and he also doesn't speak for me, so i'll judge for myself.

S2's first half was stronger than S4's..

So what if there are episodes in S4 that are better than some episodes in S2? S3 had episodes that were better than S2 still doesn't change that it was a overall subpar season compared to S1 & S2.

That's the problem to me and why I drop the show in season 4.

Personally, Felicity was funny to me, but now she is like the most important character on the show and her drama, her lovelife, her flashback, her mom, her story about the company she got for free, her unbelievable godlike skills in hacking, the way everybody said how great she is, really bored me a lot.
