I'm hoping we still get flashbacks to his self-inflicted exile.

What was the point of sending him back to the island - a place of great significance - if they weren't going to have it actually mean something? He might as well have actually gone to Europe.

Yup,that was my take on it as well.It was supposedly 5 years in hell for him. That's the last place I'd expect him to go for solace.

I think they did it just to tease the Olicity people with that Tarzan scene.

So what is Ollie going to call himself now after looking at his weapons and contemplating a name change? The Pointy Tip? The Bow? The Archer? Crossbow? Because he sure as heck won't call himself Arrow let alone Green Arrow. That would be too lame for him and the writers won't give us that.

It's going to be Arrow. Then once Roy is his protege and in costume Green Arrow.

It makes sense. Who else but Felicity and Diggle would think to look for him on the island?

Before I saw the episode, I thought he went back because he wanted to push himself, mentally and physically, so that he could become a better hero.

I hope not, because that's a really dumb reason. :funny:

To expand on this I think they are trying to appease the Olicity people as much as they can while not losing all the work they put into angsting up Oliver's love life.

I don't mind them teasing it every once in a while. I understand why they do it and I even enjoy it from time to time. I'm just saying that if the whole purpose of sending Oliver back to the island was so that they could include that scene, they're wacko. I doubt that's the case, though.

I like the idea of using green/red to differentiate between Ollie and Roy. Then Roy can start using drugs or lose an arm, quit, and Ollie can just keep calling himself Green Arrow. :o

He went back to the island because it was familiar to him, simple enough.

Haha, I like the idea of him being called "The Tip"

Cop 1: Who did all of this?
Cop 2: It was The Tip
Cop 1: Did he have any help?
Cop 2: Not, it was Just The Tip...

Since he feels guilty for Tommy's death, he probably feels like that's where he should be.

I just took it as the only reason he left the island was to begin that hunt in his fathers book. Considering he failed, he just went back there. But yes it was wasted.

Should've had Felicity dressed like a jungle girl in a leopard or bear skin bikini.

Well I imagine when Ollie is wracking his brains to come up with a new name, somehow the most obvious one "Arrow" just won't come to him. Instead he'll see all these other things first and might call himself "Quiver" or "Sheath"... until Felicity tells him these sound like names of condoms.

I do hope that Ollie uses this as an opportunity to change his costume and get a proper mask now. He can't still be using this face paint. He needs a new image so that people don't just still see the Hood. Maybe he needs to be sleeveless too, although in winter I imagine that would be cold... unless he wears a thermal vest.

I'd be fine with it, if he doesn't change his costume at all. Except for the added mask. But if he changes it, I wouldn't mind if he moves a teensy bit into this direction.

Man, that suit looks freaking awesome, maybe just a different quiver and full fingered gloves so as not to leave prints behind.

Here's a picture of Roy fighting the copycats:

:funny:

I must've zoned out during that fight if it was that obvious. I was too busy wondering if they were going to have him do another wall move like that time he saved Thea last season.

Looks awesome. Way better than the "robin hood" costume we have now.

I just started watching this show (via netflix) and I'm loving what I've been seeing so far. But am I the only one that finds the women on this show a bit snide and self-righteous? The guy came back after being thought dead for five years, and both his sister and Dinah...eeerr Laurel..constantly whine and nag him to death about matters that, I feel, he has a right to indulge in after whatever tropical holocaust he suffered. Laurel's getting a little better as the show progresses, but his sister just seems inherently *****y....all the time. She nags him about letting him in, then when the guy says he just needs some time she nags him AGAIN about giving him time to let peoople in. He finds her at a club, and she, in a drunken fit of whatever the hell she turned into, she blabs about a relationship Laurel had with (generic best friend, forget dude's name.) It's like watching Lana Lang all over again..except turned all the way up. Am I the ONLY person here who feels this way? Anyone? ANYONE?

Oh, we went through that extensively. Most of the women are real b****es. And every time they get less infuriating, they go right back to ***** mode the next episode. I even disliked Detective McKenna Hall at first for a moment, because she'd be poking around in Ollie's past, trying to get him to talk about what happened in the five years, and then seemed somewhat disappointed with him, because he didn't want to share his hellish experience. Just get off his back already.

I think the writers feel the need to write angst ridden romances for the network but are no good at it. Or writing anything for the women that doesn't involve action or comedy.
