What happened to the shadowed woman from last season? The one who wanted the plane destroyed?

well they did say this was gonna be a more super heroic season

They do have to save some evil masterminds for future seasons. If they can use him I think he would be one of those.

So, we have three potential mastermind villains who are all quite different.
1. Isabel Rochev-Corporate mastermind/schemer.
2. Sebastian Blood-Street level mastermind/cult-like leader.
3. Ra's al Ghul-Global terrorist leader.

I bet Isabel is working for Ra's.

No, I think Isabel is independent.

Her backstory in the comics was heavily tied in to a relationship with Ollie's dad. And they did establish last year he slept around a bit.

I also think Blood is actually a good guy. And I doubt we'll actually ever see R'as. I think I read one of his lietuenants is coming down.

I think that Blood is pretending to be a good guy. He doesn't really give a damn about the Glades or it's people. He's just using Malcolm's actions to rally people and gain more power for himself. It could be this show's take on the "cult" aspects of his character from the comics. I also think that Isabel might have slept with Oliver's dad in the past. As for one of Ra's lieutenants, I'm hoping that it's either Cheshire or Lady Shiva.

Ugh, I hope not. If she were played by an actress a few decades older maybe but not one in her thirties. I was thinking that she's be an illegitimate daughter of Robert Queen, which would be a lot more palatable.

Did they pronounce Ra's the same way they did in The Dark Knight Trilogy or did pronounce it like the Batman: The Animated Series?

I'm a big fan of this show, but I feel the "borrowing heavily from tdk trilogy" argument just gained some solid traction tonight.
For better or worse. I mean they couldn't have invested in a different big bad?

So, I think 5 different uses of "52" including the detective's callsign being "DC52" is a bit much :D

At least we are getting the League of Assassins instead of the League of Shadows. Plus, despite what Dennis O'Neal said, the correct Arabic pronunciation is "Raz" instead of "Raysh". They even got the name of the character from an actual Arabian figure that lived in the Arab parts of the world a few centuries back. So I don't think it is fair to say they're using "Raz" to rip off the Nolan films. Plus, it's not much of an unpredictable twist. I predicted Malcolm was trained by Ra's and was associated with the LOA back in 2012. I was right :woot:.

Other thoughts on today's episode:

-Really annoyed that they're calling him "Arrow" instead of "Green Arrow". They waited an entire season to give him a name and didn't call him Green Arrow. Plus, there's arguably been more buildup for the name "Green Arrow" than just Arrow. The final shot at the end of season 2 episode 1, Roy's line about how "[he] heard he likes green ones", Malcolm calling him Green Arrow, etc. It seems like a huge missed opportunity for no reason.

-Laurel confirmed for stupidest person in the show. Took her 5 entire months to realize that it was her fault Tommy's death was there in the first place and that her vendetta against Green Arrow (yes, that's who he is despite what the show thinks) is completely illogical. Everyone's reaction in the show itself and in real life is essentially "No ****, Sherlock. About ****ing time."

-Cool Ra's/LOA setup at the end. I wonder if this means they can do more Batman characters including Nightwing. Ra's would be the third time they brought a Batman villain in the show (Deadshot and Firefly being the first two).

That's more denial than stupidity

There's something similar to that going on in Jeff Lemire's current GA run. Oliver finds out that Shado and his dad were involved in the past and that Emiko LaCroix, the supposed daughter of this new villain Komodo, is actually their daughter, his half-sister, who can kick his ass.

So with the prison ship being named AMAZO...any chance we'll be seeing Professor Ivo?

If Ra is now an official entity on the show, along with the flash, what about DC's biggest heroes, Superman and Batman especially?

Honestly, if they do establish that somewhere out there, Superman and Batman exists, I wonder how they'll incorporate it.

No offense to Green Arrow on the show, but he's definitely not the larger than life presence that Superman and batman have been presented as.

And with ra's now existing on the show, wouldn't that imply that Batman should make a visit soon?

Unless they make Oliver into a very lucky person, there's no way that a fight with Batman would go well since Batman is supposed to be much better at hand to hand combat.

Batman could be mentioned. If one single network had all the tv dc properties then it would be like one marvel universe, with inter-series crosovers and references.

But to skip confusion they could just say Batman and Superman don't exist at all or do not exist YET on this universe. I doubt the other dc shows are going to connect to Arrow outside of The Flash.

See, this is what I don't like, Arrow vs batman, In my opinion Oliver doesn't have to be lucky to win against Batman, if they do introduce batman, I want them to be evenly matched. If we go by the comics, batman can beat superman, which is just stupid, that's one of the reasons I don't want batman on this show. If they get into a fight, and lets say they draw or Arrow wins, it will piss of the batman fans, and the writers will probably make Batman whoop arrows ass.

At least if we are going by live action portrayals, arrow would destroy batman in hand to hand.

Well, I hate Laurel as much as the next guy but people do this all the time. It's called being in denial so you don't have to deal with the pain. Like a protection mechanism.

And he WILL be called Green Arrow, just give time.

Apparently it's too comic book-y for them, but "Flash" is okay. It is kinda baffling. I guess they were worried because Green Lantern and Green Hornet both bombed, so "green" in the title is a no-no.

That moment where Malcolm suggests the name would have been a perfect moment to introduce it, since the chief of police or police captain was at the dinner. It could have been dropped at the news conference he went to.

After the latest Episode, I hope Felicity will receive some self defense lessons in the future. I don't expect her to kick ass like Diggle and Ollie, just enough to get away from attackers.

I think with the Ra's namedrop it's clear that they want Arrow to be Batman in a big bad way. I'm hoping they'll realise that what made Green Arrow so cool was that he was a slightly crazy left-wing liberal shouting from the rooftops, kinda like what this Blood character is doing.

Maybe they'll use Blood as a template for how Oliver will be later on in the series. He's a bit too mopey for my liking and he (and the show) needs to lighten up a bit, probably by getting some new writers in or at the very least moving away from the daytime soap opera style of storytelling.

Yes soon...being played by Dylan Neal.

On a side note..with the way this show is going. I see no reason why they can't tie this in with the Supes/Bats/JLA movie-verse.
