I'd like to see Green Arrow face off against a villain with full on super powers...like, towards the end of the season. That would really show off his skills. I just wish they would call the character by it's name. It's easy...have the newspapers name him Green Arrow and Ollie is fine with it...everyone then starts calling him the Green Arrow.
There's a reason for this:
Comic Book Movies Don't Use Codenames
Basically, the crux is that superhero codenames are very often seen as too 'campy' or 'superhero-esque' by today's standards and can potentially prevent viewers from taking the show seriously or worse, be an outright turnoff. Meaning, using the superhero codename for the wrong character can actually, directly harm the success of a superhero show/movie.
Moreover, even if they do decide to formally bestow the superhero codename to Ollie, I reckon they would wait for a significant moment in the show's timeline; e.g. the season 1 finale or some such.
I'm glad that they let Dig in on the secret early, rather than later.
It begs the question though,Dig being a capable ex-military bodyguard, why doesn't he suit himself up and go out there with Ollie in the future?
Because does he have a reason to? I mean, one doesn't just do this just for the hell of it (at least, not normally). With Ollie, he's running around with a hood and spray-painted mask to right the wrongs his father was a part of. Why would Diggs do the same?
As for Diggs finding out Ollie's secret so early, I like it too; rather than having it stretched out over several episodes. Maybe it's just because it's still the early few episodes. However, I hope they keep the pace fast and have the twists coming one after another a la TVD.
P.S.: Anyone wonder how they will show Thea in pre-island flashbacks? That time period has too much story potential to never explore. With Ollie, we know they just kept with the same actor but with a different hairstyle. However, the same technique wouldn't work for Thea as she's 17 now and would be 12 below in flashbacks. But on the other hand, using a different actress for her, while keeping everyone else the same, would seem just as weird and out-of-place...
