If I were cockney, I might think this show were about a posh public boys school in North London. :hehe:

Green Arrow fans, I have a question.

I'm rocking a modified/mixture (part comics/part tv show) Green Arrow costume for Halloween strictly from what I just bought at a few thrift stores. I bought long green gloves and I could've sworn I found something that said Ollie in the comics had the thumb and pinky parts of the glove cut off but now I can't find any evidence they're like that. What do Ollie's gloves look like if they have fingers exposing?

I really like what I've put together so far for the outfit even though its far from perfect, but I want to get the gloves right.

There's nothing wrong with strong female character...the problem is that Arrow doesn't seem to have any at the moment. They're all just cookie-cutter cut-outs: Dinah (and I will only refer to her by that name) is never actually shown doing any real work, though she and her sassy friend certainly talk about it, and she of course is an expert martial artist. Ollie's sister is a teen with an attitude, although her character seems to have far more growing potential.

And don't even get me started on the mother. She's a walking cliche. Now a character like Diggle's sister-in-law has enormous potential. A lot of interesting opportunities can come out that (although her acting certainly wasn't the best).

That's what I'm saying, the show doesn't right now but could develop both Thea and Laurel into stronger characters if they allow them to deviate from their angst.

I dunno... I think having Laurel as a legal aid rather than working in the DA's office is useful in that it allows a wider variety of cases for her to handle. In theory, she could be defending the wrongly accused as much as going after the corrupt and guilty. Where as if she was with the DA, then prosecuting the guilty would be the only kind of cases the show could feature her in.

Moreover, I think it helps cement her motivation better; especially in contrast to Ollie. Both fight crime, pursue justice and right wrongs. However, Ollie does it to punish the guilty where as Laurel seems more focused on helping the victims.

As such, this diversity helps the show better explore and flesh out a plotline much more easily.

The problem is that the current role for Laurel does not see her crossing paths with Arrow much and in truth legal aid is not going to come into the same arena as the guys Ollie is going after very often.

This pic makes it look like Ollie is in a SWAT formation with them. :D

Who's training who? I think it would be a good idea for Arrow to have a better CQC weapon like sticks rather than use his bow, as hitting people with it and blocking strikes would probably damage it for it's real function.

For me I am not really interested in the bringing in all comic elements and killing his family members just to fit into the mould. I say this because Green Arrow has only had a handful of good comics.

Giving him a family brings a unique dynamic that very few heroes have.

I feel the same, in truth I have no investment in the character beyond this show so I'm in no hurry to kill off the current crop of characters, I'd rather see them developed.

Google some photos from the tv show and comics. I think having the fingers cut out wouldn't look bad.

Are you wearing a mask or using painting over your eyes as Arrow does on the series?

I'm getting obsessed with Arrow and I've only watched one episode so far. I've already begun downloading the digital comic (which isn't the best but I need my kicks) and I've just ordered Green Arrow Year One. All I want to do is talk about Arrow and I'm constantly on the net looking for info, interviews etc. I haven't been like this since Smallville.

I hope they dust off the Super Max script now and get that film made...especially if DC had a similar film universe to Marvel.

Yeah heard that was a really good script but sounded like it needed an origin movie to set it up. Maybe Arrow can be the first modern superhero show to develop the character into a cinematic movie or at least a TV movie (but I doubt they could budget for the Supermax script), then again maybe they could use the Supermax concept for a season story arc or some portion of it.

This would be a really good year for DC to do a Green Arrow dtv. Time for them to stop with just giving us Batman/Superman/JL every year.

Maybe they could do one based on Supermax?

Infact as I said above about using Supermax as a season story arc wouldn't it be a great way to introduce Amanda Waller to the Arrow universe.

I might be wrong but I think only the police need to obtain evidence through legal means. A 'concerned citizen' is allowed to voluntarily steal something and hand it over to police. Of course, technically, the cops would then be supposed to charge said person for theft as well.

Of course, in the case of the confession, a good lawyer would point out that it is unreliable as it was made under duress.

Yep. A private citizen can acquire evidence through heinously illegal means, its still perfectly admissable. And while a defense lawyer can, and certainly will, call to issue its credibility, that's not the real problem for the criminal in question: said evidence can serve as probable cause. So, if the writers are on the ball, they have Vigilante Man acquire evidence illegally that points the police to other, confirmatory evidence. At which point, the defense is screwed, because the claim that the evidence was doctored looks rather thin if the guy's house has a half ton of cocaine in it.

"Green Arrow: Escape from the SuperMax" is pretty good, but it's based on the fact that Oliver Queen is a human stuck in a prison filled with superpowered beings. It wouldn't fite the tone they've worked so hard to achieve in "Arrow".

They could always loosely base it and have him just get locked up with all the criminals from the first two seasons or something. Also the world wouldn't have to know Oliver Queen is the Green Arrow if it has to do with Amanda Waller and Checkmate.

One of the main concerns I have is that when you have a 22 episode season its very hard to keep quality up.

I know the writers have mentioned they have a 5 year plan, should the show keep ratings. With that said, I really don't want to see this show continue past that. Looking at smallville I just felt like 10 seasons was way to much. They could have had 5 great seasons if they condensed the story and had less filler episodes.

I think some of the actors, writers, and production team would disagree with you. A paycheck is a paycheck and last time.....when was the last time you heard Tom Welling's name? And you see Kristin Kreuk ultimately made her way back to CW programming.

I don't mind 5, 7, or 10 seaons. As long as they are good, I'm all in. The thing that went wrong with Smallville is that the writers weren't exactly sure when they wanted to make Tom more "Superman" like or keep him more reluctant young hero trying to find his way. They kept teasing it, but then would retreat from the issue.

If they would have turned the show into a full blown crime fighting, drama, he is superboy/superman that is a crime fighter and isn't second guessing himself each season it would have been good. That's where Arrow succeeds in that Ollie knows what he wants and is doing it, now all that matters are the challenges facing him as a crime fighter and him living up to his father's name.

That's interesting to know

10 seasons probably was too much but when people keep watching a show the networks see money signs.

Just saw the preview for next episode, looks interesting since DIggle doesn't seem to approve of Ollie's activities.

I really love the idea of a season set in a prison. Or at least part of a season. Hopefully we'll get more super powered beings in the future as well. Someone like Killer Frost would be great.

Yeah I think it'd be fantastic, as I don't think they'll ever make Supermax so why not adapt it as a season story arc. Would be different from the norm aswell to radically change the scope of a series like that. I think even if it was for something like 10 episodes would be good too or even a TV movie.

I would love to eventually get some super powered characters into the show. Maybe start small, just with someone who has super strength. Nothing too special effects heavy or hooky looking. Maybe portray super powers like they did on heroes. Nothing cartoony like Smallville.

Like I said I think they'd probably wait until around the 3rd season or if the ratings start to slip. Personally I think they should introduce someone like Vandal Savage in the 3rd season and use his immortality to start off the supernatural elements. I think it'd be quite cool to have Ollie hear of a man who can fly in Metropolis etc so he knows the game is changing.

Vandal would be great. Would be cool to see him pull Ollie's arrow out of his heart.

I doubt they'll introduce superpowered characters.

I don't think they will right away but you can guarantee if the ratings start to fall they'll do it sooner. I'm convinced as they start to run out if ideas we'll see some super powered characters appear.

Interesting video on Arrow here are digital spy "The Action of Arrow"

Vandal would be great. Would be cool to see him pull Ollie's arrow out of his heart.

That'd be the perfect way to start the fantastical elements (if they are to ever do it) then Savage could give some speech about how there are things out there that can't be killed by a single Arrow.
