In the comics she goes by Dinah. In the show she just goes by Laurel. But a lot of us prefer to call her by her first name since that is what she goes by in the comic.

I don't think id mind if Dinah never became Back Canary or say Thea becomes Speedy, I want this show to unfold as it should and I don't mind a surprise. Look at Nolan's Bat films they changed many things but it worked for that version of the character and his world why shouldn't Arrow do the same?!

I'd perfectly fine with whoever suiting up as long as it's good. But the only character I WANT to see in a suit with Ollie is Roy.

I'll admit for now I just want Ollie solo but in future if he is to get a sidekick I'd want it to be Roy.

Nolans Bat films still had everyone turn into whoever they were suppose to. Bane was still Bane, Scarecrow was still scarecrow, Dent still became two face, Selina was still Catwoman, Joker was Joker.

They didnt introduce Selina and have her become the damsel in distress who is only around to be Bruces love interest.

Imo it is just a really big no no to take one of DCs best female heroes and degrade her by making her just a push over who has to rely on Arrow/Oliver. If they wanted that they couldve introduced a new character.

Yeah, same. I think mid-season 2 or later would be good. Introduce Roy earlier though.

Dick Grayson wasn't Robin and Ducard wasn't supposed to be Ra's Al Ghul. He made changes that fit his workd not with everyone but certain characters. I want Dinah to become Black Cabary but I won't lose sleep if she doesn't.

Dick Grayson wasn't in Nolan's films and Henri Ducard was a "cheap parlour trick to disguise [his] true identity".

Last episode was amazing, especially the flashbacks (which are now my favorite parts). All the fight scenes were great too.

And? Did u read my point? it doesn't matter what I'm saying is it doesn't have to follow the comic.

Does anyone else feel bad for Det. Lance? I mean it seems everyone is against him including Dinah but all he's really doing is his job and he's a pretty good cop. I hope that Arrow and Det. Lance will be able to develop a working relationship. it was nice when Oliver said thank you after he was released from the ankle monitor.

Your point is only half valid. You said he made changes to characters and cited Dick Grayson and Henri Ducard. Two characters that never appeared, Ducard however, at least got a nod.

Now for example, if he had Dick Grayson actually appear in the film and he never became Nightwing, I would see your point. But he never appeared.

Everybody became a close approximation to their counterparts.

Now, if Thea becomes a red and yellow archer called "Speedy" I'd consider that a John Blake situation. Not Ra's Al Ghul, because he was always Ra's Al Ghul. Dinah's situation doesn't apply here.

If Dinah is to become Black Canary in the series, I can see a version of her where she wears black with yellow stripes instead of fishnets and without the Canary Cry.

Ducard did appear yes he wasn't called Henri but he dud appear and I'm not against the plot twist it still validates my point of changing characters.

My point was Dick Grayson was never Robin in the Nolanverse so Thea could be Speedy. As for Dinah she might never be Black Canary in the Arrow universe that would be considered a change as im pointing out.

I'd rather Laurel not become Black Canary at all... her being a bad ass is fine enough.

Honestly, other than Diggle kind of being a side-kick/just lending a hand... i'd rather not have any other heroes at all, at least not regulars...maybe a couple cameos or couple episode arc involving one, but nothing more.

Nope. Guy's a prick and a pretty stale 'bad cop' imitator. I hope they kill him off. Sure it will predictably spur Laurel into more of a BC mode, but I'll take it as long as he is gone.

Am I the only one who didn't like this episode? I thought it was the worst one so far, save Green Diggle and the flashbacks - which were absolutely awesome.

If it doesn't matter what you say then why try to bring up nolans bat-trilogy as an example at all? The only thing Nolan changed in his batverse was making everyone he introduced more down to earth/realistic. They still retained who they were from the comics.

Im fine with dinah not becoming black Canary this season, but I expect to see it by season 2 somewhere. It doesn't make sense to introduce a known character and strip them of all of their traits. Might as well create someone new.

Grayson was never in nolanverse so use less to bring him up

Loved the nod to the fishnets when they were talking about halloween being the last time she was in his room.

He changed more than that like I said John Blake was Robin not Dick Grayson. How was that not different?

Why doesn't it? She can still be Dinah Lance without been Black Canary.

I personally don't think she would work as Black Canary. What I would've personally done is that I would've made Laurel an original character and then I would've brought in the real Dinah/Black Canary later on in the series.

Just watched the 5th episode. Best episode so far and by far. This episode took a major step up in the right direction. Also, I don't know if anyone else noticed but Oliver didn't kill a single person on screen during the very last fight and even used trick arrows. Also keep in mind that the whole theme behind episode 4 was the theme of murder and had Ollie being criticized by several people (Diggle, Laurel, Det. Lance) for the fact that he kills people. So I think it is fair to assume that he has quit killing :D. We also know from the description of episode 6 that was released a few weeks back that the next episode will be about Oliver being convinced by Diggle to expand his mission and help people that need him in general as opposed to just targeting the people on the list.

He is officially the Green Arrow that I love in my eyes now. He may not be exactly like the Green Arrow of the comics but I do think that now that he stopped killing people, is using trick arrows, and will bring justice wherever it is needed in his city as opposed to just focusing on the list, he has the same heart and intentions as the Green Arrow from the comics. So he is at least the Green Arrow of the comics in "spirit" IMO even if he doesn't have the jokey personality. All that is left now for him is to become more political and show his liberal side more. However, since he just got back and is currently in his rookie career as Green Arrow, I don't have a problem with it and I think it's ok for him to not fully be political yet, even by the end of season 1. Plus, they are starting to hint at his liberal persona. An example would be in the Deadshot episode where he wanted to open a nightclub in one of the worst neighborhoods of the city in order to rectify it. That sounds exactly like something Oliver Queen would do.

A big congrats to this show so far and especially on this episode. The show turned out far better than I expected it to be and definitely more intelligent than I expected it to be.

Why doesn't it? She can still be Dinah Lance without been Black Canary.

Johns name was v Robin but he wasn't robin. If anything it was just a little homage but nothing big.

Dinah lance kicks butt and takes names. She isnt co dependent on anyone. If she did that in this I would be fine. But here all she is, is a love interest and someone for arrow to save.

Laurel already gets too much focus.

Enough is enough. If anything, they need to downplay her. She doesn't deserve to be the second lead of this show. Give Diggs her screen time.

Giving Oliver a steady love interest right off the bat was weak. Making it so they've had this past relationship is even stranger. It ruined some the magic of Green Arrow/Black Canary's relationship.

They shouldn't have turned Dinah into Rachel Dawes.

anyone else think oliver should just wear a mask under the hood instead of paint? im guessing that is how Laurel or speedy is going to find out eventually... rain, water, whatever.. somehow the paint will wash off.

His facial hair is a dead giveaway. He needs a lower face mask. I'd prefer it.

That way he can operate outside the shadows.
