Some MG Q&A
splitsunshine asked:
"Why did I have to die? If you wanted to be me, you could’ve. I didn’t have to die." Wow. How rude. You know that's basically what the whole fandom thinks and what? You're mocking us? That's just low.

Our intention wasn’t to mock fandom. This was Laurel’s subconscious speaking. That said, Laurel’s subconscious did sound a lot like some people on Twitter after Sara died. #coincidence

teenytinybabyhands asked:
So I'm a little confused.. Before, Roy wanted to team up with Malcolm, and now he's against it because of Thea? What are his motives?

He was willing to team up with Merlyn to stop Brick, but is against Malcolm being in Thea’s life if Thea doesn’t want him to be. I don’t see the contradiction.

As I assumed, when things change for a character or characters, some viewers would claim it was some kind of apology by the writers as opposed to being plotted out before production. But whatever. That's not anything we can really know unless we're told. I'm personally not going to assume it's all reactionary.

The producers like to plan ahead:

SSN: Arrow has implanted hints at things to come as early as the pilot. Why is laying such groundwork so important to the fabric of the show?

Kreisberg: We believe firmly in having a plan.

Guggenheim: We like to plan ahead, and we like to plan for success. We’re playing a long game.

But it doesn't mean they won't adjust if necessary, we just don't know unless they tell us like they have done several times, the best example being Felicity, who went from guest star to regular because of her popularity.

Easily the best episode of the season. So many great moments. And I loved how Thea handled learning the secret. I'm also now really liking Laurel!
9/10! :)

Is it terrible of me that in the scene where Oliver first revealed the Arrow Cave to Thea, I really REALLY wanted her to exclaim "So, this is why my power bills are always so high!" :D

Truly appreciated Thea's reaction to Ollie telling her. The expected thing was her freaking out.

Yeah. Amell played that great. He was like an audience member, waiting for Thea to go all Katie Ka-boom. :woot:

I don't get the problem of the DJ not having a big part. That's actually what we were fearing, wasn't it? A long protracted CW drama with the resulting emotional trauma for Thea after the break up. It was nothing special, but more importantly, it wasn't over played.

Yes. Easily defeating Oliver with basically one arm behind his back and sticking a sword clean through and pushing him off a mountain makes him incompetent.

Also the Thea thing was far from incompetent. She had been clued in that the League was coming after them. Then she remembers some of Merlyn's training about the cyanide and put 2 & 2 together even then he got the upper hand on her but Roy and Merlyn showed up.

Again, Oliver didn't die because of bad writing, it didn't make sense, a lot of people made the same criticism in this forum. And Chase failed miserably, all he needed to do was break her neck, done.

They released images of a Ray and Felicity scene that (assuming it was from this ep and not accidentally released) was deleted. It seems a bit odd to me to completely cut a paid guest star from an episode.

I wonder if this means that Ray will get to appear in an extra episode because of his scenes having been deleted from this episode.

I didn't see anyone mention it yet,but Comic Reference:

Waller says something like "Your sister might be found dead in the backseat with a needle in her arm...Poor Speedy.

i forgot about the one

Correct me if I'm wrong, but was tonight the first time that someone actually called Laurel.."Dinah" within the series?

I don't think so. I think someone (probably Tommy) called her Dinah Laurel Lance in the first season.

She's been called it at least 3 times now. Twice this season.

Hmm...I must have missed those other times.lol

Now that Laurel has established to herself that she shouldn't be like Sara's Canary, could she please be allowed to change some of the makeup used for her BC getup?lol

Her current look doesn't flatter her that well when compared to her mask-less/sleeveless look.

I always thought that it was actually funny on how Sara looks better in her BC makeup when compared to her regular look as opposed to Laurel who looks better in her Pre/Semi BC makeup as opposed to her full look.

It's funny because Cassidy wants BC to look more feminine but she does look perfect when she is sans jacket/makeup/mask. They should ditch the dark lipstick and soften up the entire look.

And I'm kind of surprised that they didn't have her don Saras outfit while she was having a vigilanti crisis.

And yet the leader of the ancient society of ninja assassins who's whole life has been dedicated to killing people somehow failed to kill Oliver despite all of that. See this is why going with the explanation that they did instead of just dumping him in the Lazarus Pit was dumb. It DOES make Ra's look incompetent. You mean after all that, Oliver just flat-out survived (no resurrection needed), and Ra's didn't even bother to confirm his death apparently.

What if Ra's only wanted to defeat him? That he knew he would survive and run to Malcom Merlyn. Just playing devil's advocate here but it's a distinct possibility.

Another good episode. Thing I don't understand is how Thea has suddenly turned against Malcolm? Can someone explain that to me? How has her learning Ollie is the Arrow so drastically changed her perception of Malcolm?

Finally got to watch this(blasted college basketball!) and it was great. I actually like Felicity more this ep than I ever have before.

Well, basically Malcolm tried to turn her against Oliver, saying he couldn't be trusted and she should run away from Ra's with just him. But now that Thea knows that Malcolm knew the truth about Oliver and still tried to make him look like a bad guy, she feels betrayed. Malcolm said he was the only one she could trust and she realized that she can't.

That's a theory I had. It all seemed too convenient that Maseo found him and helped him out by calling Tatsu to meet him in a specific location. Also, how did Maseo know that Starling was in trouble? Yes it was the DJ, but why would it be so important for him to know and mention to Oliver?

If there's something the last few episodes have shown us, it's that Maseo is really deceptive and has lied to Oliver repeatedly with ulterior motives.

I was wondering why Maseo didn't take Ollie with him and his family? It's weird, like "Hey, we're leavin' town. Sorry to leave you stranded in a foreign country and all, but try and reach a pay phone and maybe someone will find you here before Waller....and oh, if you get captured, I'll come back to help you, since I'm leaving you like a babe in the woods out here....."

Not really the best laid exit strategy.

Ra's sent people to fetch Oliver's body. He didn't just assume that he'd died.

Thea was under the impression that Merlyn was the only person capable of keeping her safe.

It turns out her brother is a superhero, and Merlyn knew all along. He deliberately lied to her in order to keep her away from her brother.
