I like the idea cause its good for the style of the show and how they're handing his origins and evolution. We're seeing his evolution from Ollie to vigilante on the island, and now vigilante to hero off the island. Its parallel almost especially how most of his past is coming back to haunt him (Slade, Sara, Chyna White, etc).
I can see this as his descent into darkness and after this he emerges a true hero. Some **** like that.
Also I thought of something earlier: you think its possible Ollie could have used the Hood identity during his time off the island, like during his travels? Its farfetched but I can see the writers doing something like that. They've already had him in Starling City, why not? It could be an event that really made him consider being the Hood in Starling if he ever got off the island.
