Technically the first Gundam series aired in 1979, but close enough. The original Mobile Suit Gundam series.

I've never seen Code Geass, but I know he has the power of "Geass", whatever it is, and unfortunately I don't know the last one.

Super Bonus GAH question: Ralph gets the instructions in an episode (and seriously kicks ass) only to lose it again. How does this happen?

Two different episodes I think Kev. But I LOVED that about the show. It was building it's own mythology. He does meet an old man that said that he had been chosen by the aliens too but 40 years or so ago. He says his suit looked different than Ralph's. I always assumed that meant he was more in line with a look like the Shadow or the Spider. A more 1930's pulp look. I still think the property has great potential. You do a modern version with a Chris Pratt type as the the lead and you would have a MIB/Ghostbusters type action/comedy hit on your hands I think.

LOL, that was pretty much the plot to Jack Black and Robert Smigel Green Lantern treatment that WB had approved, before Geoff Johns stepped in to stop it, and rush out the "serious" bomb.

Goofball down on his luck artist with crazy cartoony imagination, based on the Kyle Rayner origin, gets alien ring without instructions, and has to figure out how to use it, and save the universe on his own.

Honestly it probably would have been hysterical and hugely succe$$ful hit, which is what WB saw.
But it shows where WB was and how they saw their DC superhero properties (besides Batman Superman) as a joke only, while Marvel was already running full steam.

Pretty much. A producer named Si Rose got involved and being involved with Sgt. Bilko made MN into a Sitcom.
