As with the thread last week, i'd like a place to discuss the current issue on it's own merit. I appreciate (most of) you guys respecting that wish, and hope we can have the same for this week's issue as well... :yay:

So Dan's arc is now complete....whatcha think?

Well, so much for the Spider-Mugger subplot being used to echo the death of Uncle Ben, huh? Sounds like that was the least predictable moment in the issue. Cause everybody reading has figured out who Mr. Negative is practically since the first issue of Brand New Day, right?

Also, I don't know about you guys, but it appears to me that if Joe Q and JMS had brought back Gwen Stacy like they wanted to then she'd be in the place of Carlie Cooper, considering how it sounds like her dad was a cop as well and most likely died in the line of duty, just like Gwen's dad--at least that's what I'm guessing. Plus Gwen, being a cop's daughter also but scientifically minded, could have easily gone into forensics had she lived. So Carlie is just nothing more than a substitute. Just take Gwen, put glasses on her, change the color and style of her hair, call her a different name and PRESTO!

Oh, and here's my theory who the person is that dies next issue...it will be Hobie Brown, a.k.a. the Prowler, and Menace will kill him.

Hhaha, kinda sticking your fingers up at the BND thread aren't ya Cap,.

Me, Nicky D- I prefer dissecting the issues in separate threads.
Easier to keep of track of it when I have been away from the Spider-boards for a few days.

Hell, i hadnt thought of that....man, i hope not. i love The Prowler.

I just get tired of looking to discuss the current stuff, and reading the same thing over and over again.

It gets old. And boring. (kinda like my father-in-law :yay: )

Yeah it's mostly arguing, pretty boring.

I'l read #547-548 by Friday and post thoughts.

I just read it, and it's good... some things predictable, some things unexpected...

I like that for the first time in what seems to be DECADES is that an arc is concluded, but questions are still up in the air... it's an awesome feeling that I haven't felt since I was a kid... and I haven't felt like a kid in a loooooooooong time. :cwink:

This is NOT Spider-Man In Name Only... this is Spider-Man!!! :word: :word: :word:

:yay:

I just got done reading BND part 2 and it dfenitley was enjoyabe. McNiven's run whent out with a good ending. I am also loving the amount of action and gripping stuff in this story. Also, as Themanofbat said, somethings were predictible and somethings were unexpected. I'm defenitely looking foward to BND part 4. :yay::up:

Could it be that we now have a more Spider-Man-ASM, in tune with the core of who Peter is? ...

I mostly found BND1 pretty nauseating because of the reset, but the art was awesome and as an out of continuity story, it was quite readable. Why can't we have storys that resonate with us on a day to day/personal level, as well as getting Peter's character right, without Spidey's rich history being butchered?

It seems it's just one or the other.

The portrayal of PP/SM has been way off for the last four years in ASM, and the storylines were all geared around inane or laughable agenda driven event arcs. Now maybe we're getting back to what made Spider-Man fun to read and relevant to us, but at the cost of the integrity and gravitas that came to define the series (the on going story of PP's life), to which the series had perhaps barely managed to cling to over the last four years.

Bummer, we could have had the cool new teams and fresh take on single Spidey without making as much of an incalculable/undefined mess as OMD did. I'm not going to be buying the series again until/if this 20 year ret-con Harry being alive BS is vanquished. Still, as an out of continuity series it might prove to be a pretty good free read in the comic store.

And THIS is why I will never buy another Spider-Man comic for as long as Joe Q is in charge.

 :whatever:

Rockin' issue. I dig Mr. Negative lots! Dittoe Spidey on the cab and his comments at the end on how screwy his life is in the classic Spidey way.

If you're not enjoying this stuff, it's your fault for reading One More Day. This is stellar Spider-Man.

Nice to see an editor who gives a crap about the mags again, the art style, the footnotes, the "Marvel club" vibe, and doesn't just sit back and do absolutely nothing like Alonso.

I enjoyed it. They really did bring back the essence of fun that the comics used to have. Some things were pretty cliche and hard to swallow, but it's the first arc, and I'd say it had enough good in it to give it a fair chance.
I like how Negative has leverage against spidey in the future, and how he intended to murder women and innocent children.
But seriously... What is Negative doing working in a soup kitchen?
I don't like how they are writing Aunt May at all! JMS's Aunt May was a much stronger character, in terms of personality and especially health. Although I did enjoy how she outsmarted that druggie thug.

That's supposed to be a compliment...

So, any ideas on the identity of the body that Carlie found a spider-tracer on?

Well,i guess it would have to be someone that the spider-mugger killed while he had the web-shooters-the question is who he'd want to kill, and why.

I guess it'd have to be someone that the spider-mugger killed while he had the webshooter- but was it accidental or deliberate on his part?

crap-i didn't mean to do that-i'm sorry---still learning =)

It's a good way to get your first 5 posts in... :woot: :woot: :woot:

Welcome to the Hype.

:yay:

I'm wondering will we see the mob family supporting Spidey? I want to see that :D

"You're family" The face of that woman who said that is...horrible. What happens to McNiven when he drew that page?

And does every issue have to start with Spidey/Peter kissing/almost kissing someone?

Aloha,
Reminds me of the old days with Joey Z. As a result of his actions, the mob has a duty, to look out for Spidey from now on.Which should prove interesting when it comes to dealing with certain super villian types.
Spidey rules

I can't believe people are buying this stuff.

It's the end, the end of all comics.:csad:

That... makes no sense.

I think he's trying to say that if people hadn't read OMD, then they might nor have gotten so bent with this current fun story.

I see his logic, but the new status quo would have left you wondering how and why we got there, so I also see the "no sense" logic.

But I get what he's "trying" to say...
