Assassin's Creed Syndicate

I ended up using the 20% off code that came with my PS4 to get the Gold Edition for just about $40 on PSN, and returned my physical copy to Best Buy.

I finally started playing and, coming off of Unity, it's a little hard to adjust to the new control scheme and style. It's very clear Ubisoft was trying to do things different.

With that said, there's a few things, mostly visually, that feel like a downgrade. For starter's.the lighting is very inconsistent. I tried adjusting the brightness settings in game, but the contrast seems horrible at times. The characters are rarely lit properly, so you lose a lot of the detail in their faces mostly, and the models don't seem to look quite as good as they did in Unity. The world can look good at times, but moving it's very off-putting to be on a rooftop and see a bright and beautiful blue sky, only to see it completely white-washed from street level.

I'm still new to the game and I'm sure I'll enjoy it regardless, but as someone who is very attracted to things visually, it seems like a step down from Unity.

ok two thing here Assassin's creed won the most of ward ofthe night at the CVGA's and new DLC on it's ways.

So, has anyone heard about the recent rumor that Ubisoft may be releasing past AC games in a possible collection for PS4 and Xbox One?

It's based off the domain name "Assassin's Creed Collection" being discovered. They already have Chronicles, which are their smaller games, but I'd love to be able to play in a re-mastered version of AC 2. Would be nice if they took a break for a year and just released a collection instead, especially since the movie is due out in a year and it would be a nice way to bring new gamers into the fold.

Nah, I havent heard that. A collection wouldnt be conducive to bringing new gamers to the series. The games currently are standalone and require no prior knowledge or playthrough of the previous games. The PS3/360 games however were not and were all connected to a common story thread which built upon the previous games. I think its easier for a new gamer to just jump into whatever the most recent AC released game is as opposed to going to the past and working from there. Theres so much story, characters and content that it gets unnecesarily confusing and none of that even matters today

The thing that I don't get is that it's being said that it may just be AC1, AC2 and AC3 ... Even if they were to make the games look better visually, there's no changing the fact that compared to the rest, AC 1 is kinda boring is empty.

But I do see your point. Right now, the games have some similarities, but in terms of overall arc, they've gotten very far from the original "trilogy".

Finally had a chance to play and complete this game, really liked it, especially the twin assassins, they were awesome.

And now it's time to wait for May 2016 for the reveal of the next AC game, really enjoy the story of every AC game, it's what gets me hooked to this series.

And in terms of folks losing faith in the series mainly for it being an annualized franchise, one user from IGN had a brilliant idea that in my opinion would honestly work really well for the series.

If I were in charge of Ubisoft, I'd give my team a pat on the back for recovering the Unity release, then put AC on to a bi-annual release schedule, possibly rotating with Watchdogs.
The extra year will give the developers more time to work on the gameplay rather than simply attaching new skins and rushing a new story onto what is essentially the same game year after year.

One year of AC and another year of Watchdogs sounds great to me, with each game getting a two year development cycle.

Or you know they could go the CoD root and have a total of 3 developers working on the franchise per year thus giving each studio a total of three years of development time to fully refine their own game which i believe is a brilliant move from a technical standpoint, take Treyarch for example, their latest game is Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 released this year on 2015, their next game from them doesn't release till 2018 since Infinity Ward have 2016 while Sledgehammer have 2017, thus 3 years of development time which is great. Wouldn't mind it if Ubisoft go with that approach.

But honestly the thing about Ubisoft in general is that they have some good ideas for some beautiful looking Video games, it's just that their technical quality constantly sucks. :\

Im guessing you dont understand how the AC development cycle works? There are already multiple teams working on the games. Each game has about a dozen studios working on the games to help with varying aspects of it. The development cycle is not 1 year. It takes about 3-4 years to make each game but they have so many people working on them that they can stagger a steady stream of releases

Fair point then.

Anyone think that 2016's AC game will tie in to the 2016 film? I.E. during the Spanish renaissance, would be a great tie in to the film.

I think it might but it wouldn't be a good idea.

From what I heard though, they are using real (fictional) characters from the lore in the film, so I wouldn't mind if there are Easter Eggs across all mediums, but I just don't want sa game based off a film based off a game.

Rumor: No Assassin's Creed in 2016, 2017 set in Egypt:
http://www.gamereactor.eu/news/371763/Rumour+No+Assassins+Creed+in+2016,+2017+set+in+Egypt/

A developer said this on 4chan:

"Egypt. There won't be an AC in 2016. You may screencap this and refer to it when nothing is shown in E3 2016. You'll have to wait until 2017 for it. The reason: It will be a complete revamp of the series. The game is going for a Witcher feel, with player progression, freeform combat system. Horse is back, and boats too. It's made by the Black Flag team. You may leave any question you want answered."

Don't know if this should be believed but I hope this is true. Egypt would be awesome and I have been wanting that for a long time. I have been really tired of this series and haven't bought Unity and Syndicate yet. I started Black Flag few years ago but still haven't played it much.

That Assassin's Creed Collection rumor sounds interesting. ACIII on PS4 would be great. My favorite of the series.

An extra year for quality? I'm down with this.

Hey Ubisoft listening to their fans. Good for you Ubisoft!

I wouldn't be opposed to them taking a year off for a new installment, but I would love it if the rumor of a PS4 Collection were true and that that was their release for the year.

Also, Egypt huh ... the article says they want to revamp the series and have more of a Witcher III feel. It kind of makes me think, is this the "leaked" Prince of Persia/AC reboot game that was rumored a while back. I almost feel like they might be trying to go back to that original concept of both series.

Well I for one am glad that it might be egypt.

Honestly i'm getting bored by the constant settings of either europe or the americas (except AC1 of course).

I feel like that rumor pops up every year but is never actually true

I like all of this. The break is perfect seeing as how there's a movie out this year and they've been teasing ancient Egypt for a long time. Also an ancient Greek Ezio style trilogy would be amazing for me as a: I'm Greek and b; we got shafted by the AC: Revelations storytelling.

I was just listening to the Funhaus guys break this down on The Know, and this is pretty much sounding like a reboot. It's supposed to before the first game and will predate the Assassins and Templars. So we may seem the formation of the groups there. Also, this gives them more flexibility in terms of historical accuracy.

I wouldnt mind them going back in history. They are getting a bit too close to modern times for me. Syndicate almost felt GTAish with the carriages essentially functioning like cars and it even had trains. The series was at its best when it was in Italy during the Renaisance. Something about that period and setting resonated so well
