I'm not much into little chats, but have been around forever. In other words.......Gimme my big avatar!!!! Just kidding. I'm fine with my teeny, tiny itty, bitty avatar.

I fell ya man. I fell ya. :(

Would Option 1 also include things like the "Ghost Rider Countdown Thread"?

Why not simply say that if a post has 3 words or less it doesn't count towards your post count? (and quoted posts, images and URL links are not included in the word count).

- Problem with this idea is I don't know how difficult it is to set up.

I'd definately go for both... good ideas and an easy way to sift out people who do the threads just for the fun of it and those who spam for the avatars... there are both types of people out there

Both great ideas.

Anyone with any involvement in coming up with them is a genius. :D

Those are two very good ideas, especially the second one.

I like this, but it would easily be worked around by spammers.

Posting instead of "teh r0xers!" would end up "u suck, teh r0xers!"(forgive me, i don't know how these posts are typically worded...I don't post them or read them)...easily worked around. Option number 1 to me is great. Games aren't discussion, which is a forum's primary fuction. They shouldn't count towards post count. I've posted a few times in those threads myself, when bored, but they tend to make me even more bored, so i have no problem with it not counting towards post count.

Option number 2 is another good thought, and I'd willingly support it.

And once again I need an "other" option... Or better yet the choices should have been broken down a bit more.

Option 1:
A. Games Forum = good idea - however, be prepared for Community to become very quiet if this is done.

B. Doesn't add to post count = bad idea - the people who post to those "games" threads are making a contribution. It may not be one you appreciate, but it still takes them time and effort to put in their posts. They are usually not swearing, they are confining their "spam" to the proper threads, and they are having fun. Some of those "game" threads actually teach you something about the other posters (favourite foods, music they like to hear, things they care about, things that tick them off, etc.) By learning about our fellow posters we learn a little bit about society too.

Option 2:
A. "Rewards" should be based on both post count and length of stay = yes

B. Do I agree with the number of posts and the length of stay = no, I would have set the bar a little higher for both for some of the "earlier" options.

You and your "other" options. Do you ever pick "A" or "B", or do you always have to be this difficult? :oldrazz:

I know Community would become kinda quieter, but this is something I'm more than prepared for. With luck, with fewer games threads, people will be more willing to make GOOD, SOLID, threads than can honestly be discussed, as opposed to the passing by "Hi! How are you?" "Good, you?" or 15 posts in the "Last thing you wore on your head" topic. Bring back the community feel to the place.

It seems that a lot of people are wanting posts to count. Maybe another thread would be in order.

The beforementioned requirements are nothing final, but just an idea, so that people understand what I am trying to say. If the idea is approved and executed, it will go under the looking glass to adjust how we see fit.

I didn't vote on option 1 because I could really care less (seeing as how I don't visit the Community Forum often).

I voted yes on option 2. However, I do have one thing I'd like to see: the 20kb limit on 50x50 avys raised to at least 30kb. It's an uber pain in the a$$ trying to do decent animated GIFs for people when you've only got 20kb to work with.

You're preaching to the choir, my friend. I've been making avatars since 50x and 20KB was the only size you could make.

I'm not sure, but I think this IS an installable mod for the software, but personally, I think it better to just leave the idea as it is. Generally, the fewer installed alterations to teh forums, the less that can mess up.

why not just lower the amount of posts needed to gain a larger avvy or a quote? in my opinion, the wait is too long and if you don't like people making one-word posts in "what's the last thing you ate/alphabet" threads then don't force people to wait out some arbitrary postcount/vetting process. it's silly.

I don't know why Drakon just doesn't draft up this resolution put under a bunch of stuff for Mirko to sign and just be done with it. It's not like he's going to read it. :o

I like both options. If we can only go with one, I'd go with the 2nd.

I know we can vote for both (which I did). However, if you're only going to go with one, I'd rather see Option 2.

I can't do a turban well, you insensitive pussycat! :cmad:
